Hello, Please help? Is your sky Orange from smoke where you live? I believe it is Methane that is causing the orange color? Because it blocks blue light waves. And i have never seen orange from fire smoke?

I experienced this in 2020 here in the west. One tip that I haven’t heard mentioned is taking wet towels and putting them at the bottom of your doors to keep smoke out. It helps!

i live between 2 of the fires on the north coast of Quebec, Canada. We dont even have that much smoke here. the smoke is rising here and going back down in the U.S.A, you guys are getting the worst of it.
This is a regular occurrence here in Seattle and where I grew up in Northern California. It’s unfortunate that it’s happening on the East Coast but I hope this wakes some people up in regards to climate change. It’s easy to ignore when it’s not effecting you.

Wager the station has archive film of days like this in the 60s and 70s without any forest fires. We don't realize how much cleaner the air is compared to 50-60 years ago.

@@Maya-dc8cb How bad the city's air used to be, and how much of a drag on quality of life it was. And that people were actually killed by a smog cloud in Donora. My intel is that the air still kinda sucks in Pittsburgh, but I guarantee it's nothing like it used to be. I grew up about 2 hours from there and in the 80s, no one wanted to go there. Was dirty, smoggy, just yuck. Now it's much better, but a friend of mine is moving bc she has had breathing problems still.
In my province , it was started by lightning strikes. We just had an ice storm not too long ago, we had casualties and a lot of our trees damaged homes,cars,etc. A lot of trees fell down.
I’m in Canada, 40 minutes north of Toronto, my mom lives about a 3 hour drive from some of these fires and quite honestly, I air hasn’t t been nearly as bad as what’s happening in the U.S. it’s totally bizarre. I don’t think we use the same scale for measuring air quality, but yesterday it was at a 5 and today it was at a 3. I could smell smoke yesterday and today but today no trouble breathing, no eye irritation.
It has to do with wind direction. If the smoke was traveling through Toronto you'll feel the same and as hard as they did in NY yesterday. I've already experienced it in a different province. Just count your blessings it's not near you. It really impacts day to day life
I'm from Maryland, there's been haze since Monday actually but Wednesday and Thursday were the height of it. As soon as you'd step out it'd just smell like smoke. Has felt colder as it blocks out the sun and definitely an orange tint. Hopefully one more day of this
I think this is the first time I have seen such kind comments from youtube commenters towards others and their plight. I am in NYC and my throat is still burning from Wednesday's smoke in the air. I am an adult and have already had the chance to live 4 decades of life so I am more worried about the little kids and I hope that this event won't have any long term effects on them since they are so young and vulnerable.

These problems are getting worse seemingly every year. And i dont feel like mainstream news is addressing any of it. There is so much information being left on the table. Now, and especially after the “all clear”, be sure to exercise ( in doors for now), get 7-8 hours of sleep, and drink lots of water. Those are the things that help our bodies get rid of toxins. Otherwise the toxins could hangout in your body and cause inflammation which is the underlining cause for almost every health condition. You’re welcome.

A bunch of idiots were careless with a bonfire during the hottest day of a heat wave. Other factors contributed as well, but this is what started one of the bigger fires that moved the smoke down south.
Laughable! After mandating health warnings on all cigarette packets, and banning smoking in many public areas - New Yorkers are inhaling the equivalent of 50 cigarettes per day - and Canada, the instigator of the wild fires - wants to print each cigarette with a health warning!!
I live in Alberta and I’ve been to BC for many times. Smoking on outdoors near the woods is illegal. I’m sick and tired for the people who dont listen. I’m lucky tho that live in Alberta, we got the Rocky Mountains that changed the wind south

Not that bad in my part of central Ontario (northwest of Toronto). Can definitely smell smoke and see a haze on the horizon but nowhere near as bad as some parts of the U.S.
Count your blessings many Canadians already experienced same level of smoke as NYC did yesterday. Y'all remember 2 summers ago the wildfires in BC were so bad the smoke was felt all the way in Vancouver, the city covered in thick haze. Count your blessings and let's hope this ends soon

A bunch of idiots were careless with a bonfire during the hottest day of a heat wave. Other factors contributed as well, but this is what started one of the bigger fires that moved the smoke down south.
