Cal indeed was a much better person than Jack. Lets recapitulate: He was ready to literally share his whole wealth with rose. As you said already Cal did a lot of work to impress her (maybe even for a year , etc - because back then it needed quite a time, to have the fiance-status).
And Rose was his fiance. And for the time, 1912 , Cal was super chilled to Rose. He let her go whenever she wanted , to meet other guys, dance with other guys, etc - literally the second day on Titanic. She was absolutely not loyal to Cal , at the first opportunity.
At the first opportunity she got naked in front of some stranger , and slept with him on the third day he met him (thats how easy she cheats ) - because he had what to give ? 10 Dollar in his pocket ? Every guy could have that.
Or that he saved her in the first day ? Thats called civil courage... every one would do that ,even Cal.
As you said it correct : she played everybody. Even in the last moments, the whole reason she goes to that ''research-ship'' (or whatever it is) to waste their times with a story no one asked for. She gave nothing to the crew. They spend probably a lot of money, just to get her on the ship - and then she throws the diamond into the sea.
Even in her last moment she was selfish. She could have sell the diamond, and help so much homeless people or poor children with that. But no ... the diamond of Cal was just there for fun ... just for her ego ... to show 'i got his diamond in the end haha''
I also agree with the audacity in the door scene, when she says ''i am freezing'' ... almost like she is complaining to Jack , that he doesnt warm her up xD ... And even in the ice-water he is the one, who comforts her , and says to her: she will have a lot of babies etc...
Lets get it straight: she f***ed a stranger she only knew for 3 days for a fast pencil sketch. But she didnt give her fiance Cal even a kiss on the cheek , not even for a million dollar diamond. Of course he is pi**ed. He even arranges a lifeboat for her (thats not Jack who does that) . And she cant even follow orders by Jack, because she jumps out of the lifeboat. If she wouldnt jump out of the lifeboat, Jack would have the door in the water , and would be still alive. But no , its everything about ''how she thinks what right and wrong'' ... She literally listens to nobody, even though she is the youngest of the bunch.
And whats about her ''hard'' life , why she acts like she wants to make s***ide on the first day. She literally complains: that her life is boring when she is around rich people, doing rich stuff. 99% of the world would envy her ''boring life'' - espescially back then. She knows nothing how hard life can be for a woman in the early 20th century.
As you said it correct: she took advantage of Jack. How nice he was. Even when she says ''i dont even have a picture of him'' ... She didnt thought for one d*mn second, to ask him for a selfportrait and pay him for that. Instead she thought how she could insult Cal in the best possible way (getting a naked drawing, and put it in his safe). She never wanted to have a picture of Jack - otherwise she would asked for a selfportrait, he could easily do! He even could have drawed himself and her in front of a mirror. But no - she wasnt interested at all to have a picture of him. She is a big f*t liar ... acting as she would care having a picture of him.
She only wanted Jack to f*ck with him to make an insult to Cal with that. Thats it. After she had done the damage, Jack was allowed to die... and she didnt even thought a second, to give the diamond back to Cal , or to her mom to make her life a bit easier (because mom said: she has nothing, only her good name).
Maybe its even better Jack only had 3 days with Rose. He definetely would have suffered more when they would be together for some years. As we know Rose, she would have cheated on him with every random dude.

      Absolutely! Well said 💯
Everything was about “her” when in actuality, given the hand she was dealt, her life wasn’t that bad. Like it could’ve been worse… Hotley really cared for her, like you said he arranged a boat for her when he could’ve BEEN got onboard to safety. The next day after he gifts her that diamond and tries to get her to open to him she chasing Jack around smh. She was more so mad at her mom for forcing her into an arrangement and took it out on Hotley smh. Using Jack along the way!
If she loved that man so much she could’ve at least got a self portrait
      Terrible.
😂😂😂 but she DEFINITELY would’ve cheated on Jack had he survived tho

Cal and Rose were already sleeping together, much to her chagrin. It's true Rose shouldn't have slept with Jack, but Jack? I mean, he fucked a girl he had only met for three days. 3 days! And he didn't give a damn that that girl was engaged. I mean seriously what type of man does that? But Jack and Rose had redeeming traits, they loved each other so much that Rose was willing to sacrifice her life of luxury for him, and later on, she saved his life by risking hers when she went to save him from the ship prison. And he in turn gave his life for her in the freezing waters. A beautiful story of love and sacrifice. Nobody was perfect.

You hate Rose. I just realized that. Your emotions are interfering with your reasoning

    • @PygmalionFaciebat
      @PygmalionFaciebat 6 місяців тому

@@Brenda-ny1gw To get it a little bit straight: Sure its not the finest gentleman-move to f*ck the girl after the third day. But first: man arent to sensitive about f*cking someone 'to fast' ;) .. Second Jack was far away from a gentleman (at least BECAUSE he f*cks around after third day ;) ) , but also he doesnt respect the slightest her fiance Cal (he never saw wether he threated her badly or not - he doesnt cared, he just f*cks the girl of another guy , because ''he can'' ) ... Very much NOT gentleman!
Rose doesnt even told him a lot about Cal ... whenever Jack asked, she said ''thats not your business'' - so there is not a lot reason to think: Jack knew everything about Cal.
He probably only knew she doesnt love him (otherwise she wouldnt chase Jack all the time).
So you see - i am not hat*ng Rose. Jack also wasnt the best. But i agree with MzDarry: Jack was far more better than Rose.
You forget also: Jack didnt had any obligations. He was single ! Rose wasnt single ! (thats a very important fact you ignore).
Also from where do you pull, that Cal f*cked Rose ? Back in those days - espescially at high society there was no f*cking before marriage (it would even ruin Cals reputation, and his families reputation).
In the whole movie you dont see even a kiss between Rose and Cal. Not even on the cheeks (although that was allowed back than, was far i know).
You accuse me of : my emotions interfering with my reasoning. Do you really think ? In all of my postings i backed up everything i said. Attack my arguments. Dont come with ad hominem. Proof me wrong. Where did you see Cal and Rose kissing ? Adress my points :) Or adress MzDarry's points - because her points are at least as strong, as my points. I dont say, i am right - but i dont accept that i am wrong, if the best the other one can say is ''your emotions are interfering with your reasoning'' . Thats called circular reasoning my darling :)
Now yes - when Rose tries to safe Jack thats a good and strong point of you. But does she really risk her life ? I admit: she gets in danger. But she was free to go whenever she was really fearing for her life. Where could Jack go in the freezing water when he was afraid of his life ? HE was truly risking his life for her. She, out of some admittlingly nice gesture made some axe-moves, when the water was not high enough to endanger herself (there is no proof she wouldnt left Jack alone, when she was really in danger due to the raising water) .
But we shouldnt forget: what Jack is for her. Jack is the best insult for her to Cal and her mother she ever got.
Also dont forget: she literally spits on Cal when Cal wants to save her life :) Thats your beloved Rose :) Not only a ladylike spit... No... the real deal deep from her throat ;) Thats how she thanked Cal for trying saving her life twice, and giving her a million dollar diamond ;) Not to forget, that she literally says with her own words she wants to be (rather) Jacks wh*re than Cals wife. Says something about her standards as a woman ;) ''rather a wh*re than a wife'' ;)
Also you judge Cal maybe easily. Cal was very soft spoken and calm in the beginning. Also we dont know how Jack would have reacted when his beloved Rose would have cheated on him (Rose seemingly wanted to f*ck everyone in that irish dance location on Titanic ;) - she literally danced with everyone, and even showed her feet to stranger men she literally knew since few minutes ;)
We only know Jack in the condition of ''getting everything he wants'' ... we dont know how he would act, when Rose cheats on him. And we know Jack is also ready for violence (he throws some punches in the movie. You could argue: only in lifethreatening situations... do we know that for sure ? Homeless people like Jack were quite violent in those days - just saying. And they were not as gentle as Cal...
Remember: Cal even wanted to save Rose' life twice even after he knew she cheated on him with some random dude after 3 days of seeing him. Thats Cal ! We dont know Jack would have done the same in opposite situation.

@@MzDarry Hey thank you for your fast comment :) Absolutely agree with you... i forget to write another point:
What exactly was Jack bringing to the table if we compare him to Cal:
Jack was homeless, had no job , he literally lived from his pocket and he was dependent by the pity of other people (giving him cigarettes, or a peny for his drawings, etc). He literally not even tried to learn some real job, like carpenter or whatever. From all we know, he is living a life like a child... drawing.. playing cards and hope for a win.
      Oh and almost forgot :
He can spit ... and he likes to teach girls to spit. Wonderful ..What a man xD
And he f*cks other mens fiances - wonderful.
We dont even know wether Jack is even into children - because at the irish dance location on Titanic, he says to that little girl (6 year old or so) , that ''she is his number one''... alright xD ... And given, that in the victorian era child pros*ition wasnt uncommon (and we know that Jack made a lot of drawings of pr*stitutes ) , we cant know whats in his brain ;)
On the other hand - we have Cal , who is a business man, ... who cares about rules. Who cares about loyality. Who doesnt speak to random 6 year old girls on a ship. Who doesnt f*cks other mens fiances. Who even tries to arrange a boat for Rose after he knew she cheated on him, and wrote him a discusting textmessage on a very insulting drawing from Jack (let that sink in).
He cares so much about her , that he even tries to find her when he was on Carpathia. He gifts her with a million dollar diamond (i assume even Cal had to work much more as a business man for that diamond, than Jack needed to work on his fast sketch). And Cal never got even a kiss on his cheek for his effords. Hell he didnt even got a ''thanks'' from her for the diamond. But Jack got her p*ssy for a 30 minute sketch. This makes me think, that Rose didnt do that the first time... she probaly already has a high bodycount.
So to sum it up: Cal brings much more to the table, than Jack. xD

@@MzDarry Don't gaslight her. Hockley was violent with her (breakfast scene?) And he slapped her across the face after he saw the drawing. He hit her. That's despicable behavior. On principle, before getting with Jack, Rose should have left Hockley on the basis of dignity. Sadly, social customs didn't permit her to. I see her both her and Jack as a victim. It's my opinion and it deserves respect, so no denying facts or gaslighting.

I just watched this movie an hour ago, and I gotta say Rose definitely could have helped Jack. She felt like she was a prisoner with the arranged marriage to keep the money and she wanted to feel some freedom which was why she chose jack. She definitely should have given the diamond 💎 to the the explorer instead of throwing it in the water 💦
