I believe this was the wonderful nativity special we as kids used to watch on Christmas Eve afternoon, except in black and white. How wonderful and simple it was with very few special effects. Brings back a lot of warm memories. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for posting this very special movie. This Nativity story by the Mabel Beaton Marionettes was and still is a treasured part of my Christmas celebration. It is among those very special events which I look forward to each year. I am delighted that PBS in Philadelphia will air the program. Unfortunately, I usually miss this film which I love very much.
I remember watching this years ago on the PBS channel back in the day. It was a great Christmas little play I guess you can say. I wish PBS continue to play this, PPS used to play a lot of great Christmas specials at one time then all of a sudden they stopped. I have a pretty good idea what happened here, ever since the streaming and downloading and everything else when it came to the computer everything just pretty much stopped. The other thing I was told is when it comes to PBS people have to donate to keep the shows going, now if this is true I don't know. All I know is Pbs played some great Christmas stuff and it needs to come back. Bad enough we don't really don't have nothing to watch during Christmas now. At least Hallmark channel does Christmas movies yet, for how long who knows. Miss watching the Peanuts holiday cartoons Snoopy,Linus, peppermint Patty Charlie Brown and all them. Now you only can stream them on Apple TV.
The puppets are absolutely gorgeous! And the movement is so fluid! I was actually arguing with myself about whether they were puppets or live actors! Beautifully done!

That's not right they show the wise men in the stable before the wise men got to the Christ child Joseph was warned in a dream to take the child and Mary and flee to Egypt, the child 's life was in danger by Herod the king.
