I love how you congratulate people - its a real recognition of the skill and dedication it takes to do what David has done here.

Fantastic, and what a superb use of easy Vallisneria (even if a bit of a biotype cheat) leaves, cobbles, wood, etc., looks better than many tanks on steroids - which to be honest my main tank is - CO2, high light,. Really great fish, understated but the male is quite something and with only one species of plant what an impact. Lesson here for all of us, has me thinking hard. Thanks George, absolutely super.

Beautiful composition, like a piece of minimal music. We tend to keep adding to whatever we create in order to achieve the perfect result. But often reducing the unnecessary is much more effective.

I was going to set up an 'English River' biotope, until I realised the size of aquarium I would need to fit in a shopping trolley and 8 traffic cones 😂😂😂😢

I assume this is no CO2, low tech. Hope to have something similar in the future. Not bored yet of my current setup ;-)

This is beautiful! I love the way you did the hard scape! And it’s perfect with simple plants contrasting with those beautiful swordtails! Thank you to David for sharing and thank you to George for bringing us along with you.

Those are some nice X. montezumae.
Also, nice and simple tank layout. I got back into the hobby watching lots of aquascaping videos, but I find I'm drawn more and more towards these kinds of tanks.
Looking forward to the video from the other tank as well. 👍

Love this! Can't wait for a closer look at David's next one! I won't quibble with the others over the word "biotope." I just love the low-tech, low-maintenance style, natural style. The challenge of trying to build a stable and self-sustaining ecosystem is really compelling!

Super flot! Enkelt og me get effektfuldt!! Love seeing wildtype swordtails. Looking for some myself atm, but I’ve decided on the “ordinary” green variant. Just have to find it somewhere. Love watching the males doing those backwards swoops when they are showing off!
Thank you Mr. Farmer for taking us along for the ride.

Both aquariums are wonderful. If you are ever in Canada, would love to have you pop by and we can discuss my 2 Florida Blue Springs Planted Tanks - one is 65 gallon, the other is 75. The hard scape is Florida Marco Rock - which is typically used in reef tanks. Its quite dramatic. They both suggest released aquarium species now native to Florida in some places. You'd like them I'd bet. On the 75, the rock breaks the surface and growing on the rock is Hens and Chicks Succulents.

Great tank, love tanks that got only one or a couple of plants in the water looks way more natural that way to me.

It’s beautiful, but we can’t call it a biotope. Plants not from the river, just representative. Shrimp not from the river, and some fish not from the river too. These aquariums are inspiring and should be referred to as “natural aquariums”. That doesn’t make them any less, just a more accurate description.

      Call it Biotope style.

Completely agree, but this tank is actually very impressive and I suspect the sort of tank that could run for a decade or more with limited intervention.
