- Here's run number 2 with the all new Kraton EXB!!! Things got a little rough, but she finished strong in style. So impressed with this latest release from ARRMA. Great handling, power, and brute durability right out of the box. Big thanks to my bash Brothers Ian, Victor, and John for an epic New Years Day session. Shout out to Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA and M2C Racing.
What size battery do you run & about how much run time do you get?
I run Zeee 5200mah 50c on sale from Amazon. Also had good luck with Ovonic compact 6s single packs. I usually get 15-20 minutes of run time depending on outside temps and throttle use.
Where is the motors cooling fan?
I took it off. It starting cutting out after my skatepark bash so I pulled it. Took off the front mud guards too. If the truck doesn't need it, I just take off the extra grams.
Rich! I can't believe it, the truck is no longer for sale. I just got off the phone with Arma and they have discontinued it!!!!! What do you think about that!? I.

That sounds nuts. Such an awesome rig 😱. My only guess is they already have an updated version they're gonna release in the near future. I would still shop around online for one. There's got to be inventory floating around. 🍻

What setting do I adjust for reverse to react quicker? I’m trying to front flip but the delay is huge. Is that just the punch setting or is brake force needing to be adjusted? New to this sport of RC.
There's a table in the ESC settings that enables you to adjust the brake force. I generally set mine at around 37%. Refer to your manual for the table page 13. 🍻

I’d probably like an m2c chassis anyways, but the newer 7075 from Arrma does seem better than in the past. Been sending my 8s kraton hard since it came out and it’s still perfectly straight, unlike my previous exb roller.
I think arrma did a great job with this rig and you definitely showcased how well it can perform 🚀💪🏻that’s one hell of a way to start off the new year brother 🍻

My son must had gotten a dud all ready lost a servo and the steering linkage screw keeps coming out even after using Loctite to keep it in place.
Bummer about the servo. I would clean all the steering linkage screws with 70% isopropyl alcohol and try using Permatex Orange threadlock.
Impressive! Looks like that new EXB RTR is pretty solid and definitley an upgrade from the previous versions.

Probably the Outcast 8s EXB. While not a true 1/5 scale, it's big enough and takes a pretty crazy hammering.

Thanks so much Brother 🤗. I forgot to mention I disabled the AVC (hate it on bashers) removed my front mud guards and the motor fan. It was cutting out after my skatepark bash so I just yanked it. 🍻
Awesome video and awesome driving! I did break my wing mount on mine already bashing like that but still a solid rig! Arrma did a great job on this truck. Gonna take it for speed runs tomorrow!

This is the video I’ve been waiting for! Awesome job! I’ve only broken a wing mount and bent an axle, but all around being stupid with my EXB V2. I’ve had much worse hits than Do RC in 25°F weather, I think he just had really bad luck. Good to see it standing up to your driving style!

I can attest that Arrma got it absolutely right on this one. Got mine in. Put 500k fluid in the center diff. Replaced the stock shock cap bushings with m2c bushings. Added cooling fans to the motor. Loctited a bunch of screws and bolts for security. Then proceeded with 100 foot plus sends. I'm 3 packs in. Not one break. No chassis bends. Nothing. Gonna go back this weekend to see how many more packs I can run through before it needs anything. I did also replace the hubs with Hot Racing hubs just because I know the stock hub bearings will only take so much. But this rc is worth every bit of 700 bux.
That’s what I’ve been doing with lsd center , just adding 500k , but you have to change it frequently, I’m going just order a couple shim sets and take plates out , a main has the treal cups for 13 bucks limited supplies. I wonder how long before the outcast , exb v2

That's awesome Randall!!! You likely picked the best all around RTR basher available 👊. Take it slow if starting on 6s. Give yourself time (and space) to adjust and get familiar with control. Very easy to hit curbs or other solid objects because they're so fast 😱. You're gonna love it!!! 🍻

The metal pivot balls can come loose if inadequate thread locker was applied during assembly. All metal to metal fasteners need it. I use Permatex Orange. Holds like red, but allows disassembly. Now that I read your comment, I recall having to threadlock both sides of the steering links where they attach to the red metal plate at the hubs 😂. Again, supposed to be done right during assembly, but assemblers don't always get it right. 🍻
What diff gears do you use mate? just had my centre diff give up on me. Standard exb diff gears or you got any tips to make it stronger?
I'm impartial with the center diff whether EXB or standard. I'm running the stock EXB center diff (minus the LSD plates). Just added the 2 large washer shims that replace the 6 friction plates. The standard ARRMA center diff works great in my opinion. I just replace the planetary shims with larger diameter Mugen Seiki ones, #E0206. Also add the little ARRMA outdrive bearing shims if they're not already there.

What are your thoughts on this vs the sledge for bashing?
Like I mentioned in my breakdown vid, I genuinely think the EXB is a WAY better value than the Sledge. Unfortunately, Traxxas did a horrible job engineering the motor mount and mesh system. Guaranteed to blow through gears unless you upgrade to an M2C Racing setup. The Sledge A arms are brutally durable, but the truck fell short in many other areas.
What's your favorite out of the 8s Kraton and 6s Kraton? What's faster and what do you think will be more durable?
You can make either too fast to handle with enough money haha...6s will be faster out the box though.
6s is much much lighter so less breakages just because of that.
Buuuuut the 8s has that "it's huge" fun factor which is hard to beat, just gonna take more money to make it bulletproof.
Love the 6s and 8s about the same 😍. They're hard to compare because the 8s is huge by comparison. The 6s is far more agile and can take more punishment being lighter, but the 8s is no slouch 👀. Comes down to preference in the end. I wouldn't part with either truck because they're both awesome. 🍻
Question. How on earth do you know your landing upright when it’s out of sight doing those massive jumps? Your an insane driver.
Thanks Lucas 🤗. I do my best to level off when landing especially with blind landings. It takes practice and use of sound to gauge speed and wheel rotation along with visual inputs. The key is not making sudden changes with throttle or brake once the car is level and beyond field of view. The bigger thing is safety and being certain the path is clear by having a friend spot for you unless bashing alone.

The ones I love the best are your last millisecond save landings . Just so sweet. Also your tips on shock and diff oils and set ups to even motor size with pinions , sharing them is really generous.

Do you ever do max speed tests?
I do sometimes, but stock gearing is generally conservative and too slow for my preference. I gear my rigs to around 55-60mph top speed, but don't need GPS to confirm when the truck feels good. The bigger thing with gearing is finding the sweet spot to maximize power with acceptable temps. Generally the motors potential is reached around 140-150F.

Water vs not using, Simple green (degreasers) vs not using, electric duster for computers (datavac) vs air compressor, WD40 vs not using, Protecting bearings and electronics when cleaning, etc. I figure you know what works the best at this point. @@pizzomedia7261yeah I give my rigs a pretty heavy wash down after any wet/mud bash. I don't blast my electronics perse, but spray everything else with a garden sprayer, spray with 50/50 Simple Green/water mix, and rinse everything off thoroughly. Then I use my shop blower, towels, air compressor, and a space heater. Once dry, I shoot the bearings and hinge pins with WD-40 Silicone Spray. Lastly I plug back in and run the rig. Plain wd40 works great for water displacement and cleaning parts, but it's not a lubricant. I also use bearing oil when doing maintenance...etc. 🍻

ARRMA , one of the higher priced RTR , still has known issues with parts that break far too easy , still have the same old odd ESC related issues . NO I THINK THIS IS NOT OK , NOT for one of the higher priced RTR RC'S , all are still made cheaply in CHINA , definitely this is NOT OK for ME . ARRMA is still classed as one of the higher price bracket RTR , while still has a reputation for breaking all too easy with the same old odd ESC related issues 🤔 🤔 🤔 . SO I STILL THINK NO , THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD ENOUGH .
All the RTR's are expensive now in my opinion regardless of where parts come from. This truck is a far better value than the Traxxas Sledge at the same price. Plastic parts break easier during the cold months regardless of brand. No ESC issues for me with this one. You can make generalizations about parts breaking, but all RTR's break something if you bash hard enough or spike them into the ground like I did this run 😂. The biggest thing is owning it when driver error is the cause.

I think they fit, but I'm not 100% positive. Believe both use 17mm hexes.

Thanks so much Paul 🤗. The Big Rock 6s looks great, but the body is too heavy for my taste and I don't like the wheels/tires. It's designed more for scale appearance than speed and agility. I'm happy with my Fireteam and Orange Darling Kraton XL 😍.

I hear you on the body and the weight, but it is still a beast! I have a display body and a send it body myself! Love this truck I put the 16t pinion in mine and now its perfect now no more shutting off for thermal protection.
