Eating dinner early has been a huge benefit to me. For the longest time I would have nightmares and I could not figure it out. I went to work one day and it was 3:30pm and a coworker was like I need to eat my dinner. I said its only 3 and she said if I eat to late I get night terrors. So I did an experiment and thats when I figured it out. If I could eat dinner between 4-5 that would be optimal but it doesn’t accommodate my schedule so now I eat between 5-6pm and a light meal and I get an excellent night sleep. If you have to eat late eat something light. Just doing these things has helped tremendously.

I completely agree. It’s a constant battle with my partner over this. He wants to eat at 9pm and I want to eat no later than 6pm as it makes me feel so bad when I eat later. Think the only answer is separate meal times!

Sometimes I go out for a "late lunch" (4ish) with my night owl friends, but it's really my dinner.

This is what I've been doing and it works for me. When I'm alone. The problem is socializing. It's hard to find others who dine at 5:30. Also I eat whole food plant based and I can barely find a restaurant with healthy whole plant based fare not to mention someone who will accompany me.

This makes sense. The American infrastructures (economics, education, business, jobs) prohibits a lot of people from consuming dinner early because many do not get home until after 6:30pm. Many parents pick their children up from after school programs after 6:30pm and arrive home at 7pm or 8 pm and have no other options of eating time for their family except late. However, where there is a will there is a way. I will start this lifestyle change today.

I just recently was In Sicily the whole population eats dinner at 9 and 10 pm on a regular basis , they even bring children and babies out at this hour . If you show up to a restaurant at 4,5,6 it’s usually dead . I feel they are not as fat as most Americans like myself . Help me understand this ? For me personally I agree with you Dr. A

Hey Christina, thanks for writing in and great observation! There are many reasons why a population may be more lean than another. Processed and artificial foods run rampant in the U.S., as well as a more sedentary lifestyle. So even though they may enjoy dinner much later, their overall lifestyle is probably healthier, which allows them to consume later into the day. Eating, and more specifically dinner as ONE meal, is just a small part in the larger equation of a healthy lifestyle. Great point though Christina!

Doesn't many European countries have a siesta? At least that would help the digestion of the mid-day meal.

I know, and this has become a MALHABIT THE LAST YEAR. yOU OMIT ALL THE MENTAL-EMOTIONAL REASONS AND positive ATTEMPRTS one has. And when not having got more than breakfast , one is hungry at night. And with disease, grave burnout and insomnia, without support and treatment and more, one needs food. Underweight, one may really need 3 meals a day and not go ro bed hungry and weak.

You still eating before 6pm, I just started 1 week ago and I feel better already, if I'm out and about at 5pm and over 10 miles from home I just go to a drive through and get something, better to eat before 6pm, I can still eat a little junk food as long as its before 6pm, my bed time is 11.30 so that's 5 hours

Dr. I just came across your videos. I just ate dinner after 9pm last night, (before i saw this video and I had the worst night sleep. Very disruptive. I also just had a colonoscopy. With that prep, i had to fast a while and I liked the way it made me feel both physically and mentally. With listening to your videos, I want to start intermitent fasting. I also want to eat dinner no later than being finished by 6pm. I also want to do cold plunges. I loved hearing about the benefits of this. Thank you so very much for what you are doing to help all of us! Can you tell me how to get the best cold plunge and for how long if I dont have an actual cold plunge container? Also, Im not trying to lose weight. This is why I didnt initially want to fast. Is there a way to do intermitent fasting without losing alot of weight? I want to keep my face full. It gets slimmer when i lose weight. Bless you for your content!!
