This is an ASMR style video with two repetitive parts: soft spoken and then whisper. I’m discussing the World War II Victory Plan and wartime manufacturing - it is a ramble/discussion video to help distract a busy mind and hopefully help you relax. I’m not a historian, just a curious person.
*Gibson hired over 200 women - I was a little off on that fact.
*Assembly Line was the word I lost.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

Correction - Gibson hired 200 women - I was way off on that stat. Ford’s Willow Run plant was built especially for the bombers, not the Model T.

Your videos are literally perfect, I wouldn’t worry too much about maintaining the typical idea of an asmr channel! You have a naturally soothing voice and a calmness about you that lends itself to asmr, but the asmr crowd clearly love your stuff despite not having the all the ridiculous tapping and mouth sounds 😂 I for one have always preferred soft spoken asmr and I love information so for me these videos are perrrrrrfect! Don’t change just because you think that’s what a hypothetical group of people would probably prefer!

Just today they monetized me! I ran around high-fiving all my kids! 😂 I’m still not sure what that will mean exactly - it’s all a bit of a mystery. I turned off mid roll ads - I can’t stand those, but you may seem them at the start of a video. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Hey Linda, super interesting topic! One thing I know about it (being a train enthusiast) is how the war impacted production of new locomotives. The railroads were of course a huge asset to the war effort, and railroads needed new locomotives to keep up with wartime traffic. However, the war production board restricted things in a couple ways: no new locomotive designs were allowed, so this led to some railroads borrowing designs from each other (many railroads had proprietary locomotive designs). Another aspect that was restricted were materials, so some of the locomotives built during this time period ended up being some of the heaviest ever built due to more lightweight metals being restricted from use. Thanks for an interesting discussion and a relaxing video!

    • @Nofrillsasmr
      @Nofrillsasmr  7 місяців тому

That is really interesting. Did the fact that they borrowed designs from each other end up being a net positive for the railroads? Thank you so much for this comment. When I have time I'm going to have to investigate this further.

You make the most absolute random shit but a lot of it is stuff I have wished people would make in ASMR form just because it’s my interests but a lot of my interests are such a weird niche lol. The War production board and defense production act are some of the most badass things of American history imo. I also liked the interstate system video. I genuinely could not believe I finally found an Asmr video about it. I appreciate you.

In my hometown in the UK the factory producing Spitfire fighters in WW2 was bombed and the production continued in small workshops around the city. Lots of small businesses making components, its an interesting story.

I am a boardgame publisher and will, at some point in the future, make a group game exactly about this...the regular homefront citizens that helped win WW2. One player will play as English citizens in the tunnels during the London bombing raids, another will be the factory workers in the U.S., another will be the French Resistance. The title will either be "Homefront" or "Their Finest Hour." It's a fascinating time period.

I've been listening to your vids because of your voice.
Just to add to your info, I recall Chrysler made thousands of tanks and trucks during the war. Packard car company made the licensed version of the RR Merlin engine (for P-51s and other aircraft) as well as other engines and equipment. Of course Jeeps were made by Willie's, Ford and some other company (could it be Chrysler?). I recall Good Year made aircraft including a licensed version of the Corsair. Studebaker made trucks, but they probably made other war materials.
That's as far as my fading memory can remember. I'd better hit the books again, or google them, ha.
    Happy New Year.

You should do an entire video on watch companies during WW2 like you mentioned around 22:07 Watches were actually an important piece of gear for soldiers on both sides, so many now iconic Pilot’s or Field watches were designed during that time. Since most of the watch industry was already based in Switzerland, many famous watchmakers like IWC and A. Longe and Sonne actually made watches for the Nazis, while the allies were mostly supplied by Hamilton, Omega and Bulova

Staying along the WW2 and history route, and based on some of what was discussed in this video, I remembered the topic of companies and businesses that are alive and well today, which started by or were affiliated with the Nazi party. It's super interesting to me.

@@Nofrillsasmr I second this, there is also some great history behind les paul and the invention of the electric guitar, and the accident that created the distortion effect thats so common now.
Acoustic guitar history goes much further back and may be more hit or miss on the actual facts.
