    I had no idea so many of the guitarists I listened to growing up didn't play with a pick (especially Lindsey Buckingham)! Personally, I love the versatility you showcased of playing without a pick. Also, I find that playing with heart can be more important than shredding (depending on the scenario) as it can lead to a more personal kind of feeling. Also, while you won't be ditching the guitar pick altogether, would you still be open to playing gigs without a guitar pick?

      Awesome observations, thanks for the comment! Absolutely I would be open to playing more fingerstyle on electric moving forward. It won’t be my go-to, but I do see myself incorporating it into my playing here and there depending on the musical context.

    So I know I am a bit late these last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy with school. But oh my word Lonny! This exactly demonstrates the differences from a musician and a professional musician! You are so talented and I love seeing this! I have been working really hard with my music stuff this year and am currently working on learning Tenor cleft which is a lot of fun as well as preparing with the rest of the trombone choir for ITF (International trombone festival) this summer! So excited to play in Salt Lake! I hope your doing well and having a blast on tour!

    Great video, Lonny! Playing without a pick, is a good tool for any guitarist to have in their arsenal. You should check out some flamenco guitar techniques. It's all played with no pick. I'm sure you'd enjoy it! Glad to see you back with another video

    I learned finger picking when I first started with an acoustic and dropped my pick inside and couldn't get it out for a few days

    Minus the pickless guitar and gig, I’ve also been delving into learning more about one of my instruments: my flute. Saw something about quarter tones on Facebook and have done a little research into it. Not easy to do, but it’s something I want to work on. It’ll definitely help with future covers.
    Been working on playing with the back of my throat being more open too. It’s harder to do with higher notes, but the way it affects the timbre is worth the effort. Gonna be doing it on a MIW cover I’m hoping to drop this month (Ritual by BVB is coming along; solo on that one is gonna take more time than I thought to work out).
    Have fun in the UK, Lonny, and stay safe!

    OMG but Lonny how did you forget your picks haha? That was a great challenge! The times I've played practicing guitar, the truth has been without picks and for me it's been a bit painful for my fingers, to be honest... but let me tell you that I'm very proud of you since it's been a great challenge for you! but I know that you will always find a solution to everything! I just hope you didn't hurt your fingers, how are they? good ? Thank you for this incredible and risky video that you give us today! and I hope that next time you don't forget your picks hahaha! Take care and take care of your precious fingers! ✌🏻😅🎸🔥

    Hey, Lonny! I can play my acoustic without a pick. Now, mind you, I'm a beginner, but I never could learn to use a pick so I fingerpick. My mom taught me how. She taught me how to play a song by Peter, Paul, & Mary.

    I am a bass guitarist, and I don't use picks when I play my bass, however for the benefit of others in my college course, on both my bass guitars, I have a Dunlop pick holder on the back of the headstock where the neck and headstock meets. I fill them with, I think, four picks? Although i don't play with plectrums, it is nice to have it there for others and if I ever feel like attempting a song with them to see if it's any easier. These holders are really cheap, hold four thick bass picks, stick onto the instrument (they stick real well too), and don't leave any damage when removed or repositioned (at least on mine they dont).
    Oh btw, we met at the Glasgow concert on Monday and that concert was amazing!! 🔥Thanks for the fields of bone bass playthrough that I played for an exam ahaha

      Yea those holding tools are very convenient, my brother used to have one on his first acoustic as a kid. Glad you had fun at our show in Glasgow, hope we can come back soon!

    Hi Lonny, Silver Sky looks brand new after 1 year. Jeff, Lindsey and Mark. I've learned their tunes and prefer no pick. How do you present your playing at a solo gig ? Backing Trx, looper ? Thx Lonny, Tucson, AZ.

    Awesome video. I love watching people use finger style to play guitar. Although usually i see it on an acoustic guitar. I grew up with russian bard music and romani music and other acoustic guitar music and they all use finger style on acoustic guitars. Which is why i when i started learning acoustic i put down the guitar pick. I wonder what are the differences between using finger picking style on acoustic vs electric guitar?

    • @LonnyEagletonMusic
      @LonnyEagletonMusic  Рік тому +2

      Yes, WAY more common on an acoustic guitar. The technical approaches would be the same between both acoustic and electric, I suppose I was approaching this video more from the point of view regarding the stereotypical type of parts you’d play on an electric (leads, solos, etc) and how that would apply to fingerstyle.
