Jamie can you list out the wire to purchase. I both 50lb test wire and it would not bend easily. It seemed to keep flexing back to original shape. I got the hooks you recommended but I guess the wrong wire. Please help... Thanks John U
Sounds like you might have been using titanium wire which is not what you want for that stinger rig. You need traditional stainless wire leader. It’s brown in color. I prefer #7 size wire. American fishing wire is a good brand
Incorrect statement. Been fishing this rig for decades with great success as have most of the top fishing teams in South FL. If rigged properly it swims better than a bait with a stinger rig outside the skin
Awesome tip. Looks really clean
👍 nice, thanks for a short & clear video, very useful tip
do you use it also for slow trolling, targeting king mackerel? And why you don't use treble hooks? Thanks
Yes, works great for slow trolling too. A treble hook will work, just prefer the cleaner presentation of a j hook.
@@fishbluewater and did you saw a noticeable different form the normal way to rig live bait?
What size and type of hooks are those? what size wire? do you have a vid on making the stinger?
We made a video that shows how to make the rig and answers all your questions. Check it out in our gallery!

It was titanium. I tried wire but it was stranded not single solid wire. Can I use trolling wire to make stinger rigs?
Thank you very much. I got the wire you mentioned and it works like a charm! Love your teaching videos.
great video!!
Those haywire twists are very compact! Are you twisting them by hand or using a tool like the Dubro?
Using pliers to make the twists.
@@fishbluewater thank you for the reply!
nice rigger good video
Right on with this rig. Fish on.
Tight lines & thanks for this info !!!
Great tips as always
AWESOME RIG!!!
Thanks!
good episode poor fish lol
For the stinger do you use a stif wire? What number?
Yes we use traditional single strand wire. #6 or #7 wire
Useful video
Thanks!
Nice technique
I imagine this technique can be used with mullet as well, correct?
not sure this technique would be as effective with mullet. Their skin is scaly. It's worth a shot though.
I couldn't tell how the hook connected to the wire in the nose
The lead hook is just inserted through the opening on the eye of the stinger and then through the bridge of the nose on the bait
Not clear what u done
Should be called Dr Mengele rigging…
Why so?
@@fishbluewater Because he was experimenting on live subjects…
Bait is going to die faster and not swim properly strong
