She's on fire, flying high and delving deep igniting every nook and corner with blazing energy and intensity... certainly an outstanding performance uniquely hers, defying any comparison with any other performance. For me, the best. The one I will listen repeatedly.
This performance surpasses that one she performed in Seoul a couple of years ago, which was also excellent. This one seems to have more energy. I think the orchestra has a lot to do with it; it is the synergy there. Nice to have her perform at this level while the pandemic is still raging in Europe. Bravo.
It is said she also owns a Stradivarius. I have never heard her play with it. But this Guadagnini (perhaps a late version made in Torino) is just as good as any of the masters made in Cremona. The sound engineer captures its beautiful tone so well.
Regretfully, it must be admitted that no Western violinist achieves Soyoung's prowess! I would like to find on youtube her interpretation of Prokofiev's second concert 👏👏😍😍
Her Beethoven in Poznań in 2016 was excellent. It was in the opening concert for the 15th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition which she won the first price in 2011. She performed with the music in front of her. It led me to think she was the last minute fill in. Yet, it was the best Beethoven Violin Concerto performed in recent years and probably her personal best till now.
