As a flat wood worker entering turning I appreciated the good lighting, good camera angles and clear explanation. Thanks!!
The toolrest placement tip was something I had never heard before....Thank you so much....BTW very nice project.
Mike does a great job explaining every step of the way. I’ve been away from turning for some time and really need the extra help.
Thank you for the project. I just chucked up a 2-3/4 x 6 piece of poplar thinking I was going to do another project but you just changed my mind. Thank you for all the tips and tricks.
Another outstanding video from you Mike! Love all the little technique tips and tricks you mention throughout the video! I always learn something new (or get a refresher :-) ) when watching your sensational videos!
3520с действительно очень тихий и стабильный станок. работая за ним получаешь только удовольствие.
I think a non-leaking sort of container rather than a piece of sheet plastic would be an improvement. Otherwise, water will sooner or later reach and damage the wood.
Mike, would you please state somewhere in the video what your bevel angles are on the gouges and scrappers. Also what the grinds are on the gouges. Thanks, great video!!
They do have a full video on how to sharpen your turning tools and what degree bevels to use on all the different gouges and scrappers.
Bowl Gouges are 50 degrees, Spindle are 35 degrees with double bevel grind, and Skew is 25-30 degrees. 😊 -Mike
Can you share the manufacturer of the French curve scraper you used on the inside?
CSUSA has a Cryotek M2 French Curve Scraper for about $99. The Henry Taylor M2 French Curve Negative Rake Scraper ( easier to control and won't self-feed) for about $128 Both are very good.
Here's a link to the scraper we used in the video: www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/129/1936/henry-taylor-M2-HSS-Jumbo-French-Curve-Negative-Rake-Scraper
However I ground the negative rake off of mine. -Mike.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate the info.@@CraftSuppliesUSA
I'm surprised to hear you say Scratch Free is suitable for a final finish. I guess if it's mostly wax, I suppose it is.
So can anyone like give me a recommendation of a lathe that’s like below $1500
This is a great lathe under 1k: www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/216/7390/artisan-1420-EVS-Mini-Lathe
Has 14" capacity and 20" between centers.
@@CraftSuppliesUSA thank you I’ll check it out
I dont know that the plastic sheet would be necessary. Succulents take very little water, and my wife waters her plants with a spray bottle misting the leaves.
Edit: Showed my wife and apparently i was wrong. The plant i thought was a succulent was not. She said succulents like being drowned, but in a pot that drains well, then let it dry out for a month or two. As is the nature of desert weather.
