Yes! Not everyday is a good day! That’s when we remind ourselves how fortunate we are to be living this dream of ours! And some days we just wake up in pure amazement! Dave is constantly walking around with a huge smile!
Grass always looks greener from the other side, Mark. Nomad life has got to be hard and then add tech to do a YT channel and it isn’t all rainbows and unicorns. But hey, nice job well earned through persistent and consistent hard work. Reminder that 99% of the world would look at your life and say the same thing.
25 years ago, my wife and I sold everything and lived in our sailboat for a year. One of our favorite spots was Manatee Pocket which is just around the corner from Stuart. We've taken our boat across Okeechobee several and spent some time at IndianTown Marina. Great memories!
What a gorgeous campground! We have been in the Winter Haven area for the last week. Scotty would love to explore the Okeechobee area. This looks like a fantastic spot to plan for. We saw you at Nomadic Fanatic's Meet and Greet on Thursday...but it was so crowded I didn't want to crowd y'all anymore. Lol Hopefully there will be other opportunities to say hello.
Dave, in my world a paddock is where the rich people keep their horses and a corral is where people keep horses you and I can afford. Looks like a nice place guys and it's not even too far from my sister's house if I go to see her. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
It’s a Bull shark. They like to hunt near river outlets. The only shark that can survive in freshwater, and they are the most dangerous shark that attacks humans.
Ahhh! My wife & I would have loved to run into you guys while you were in our town of Stuart. You portrayed the area great. Posted many UA-cam shorts of that marina at sunset. 👍😎
It's our favorite too. That's the exact spot we parked too. Beautiful birds there. I saw Belted king Fisher belting his little fish against a branch. There were Green Herons, blue herons and so many blue jays etc. Hope to meet you today at tiny home festival.🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐
We haven’t been there since 2017, but back then this was all dispersed camping (no numbered sites) and the showers and toilets were in a different area (+ looked a lot different) and just finished. This was our fav camp spot in South Florida, we spent LOTS of time here 😊 because it was dispersed, there were a lot more openings and it was easier to get a camp spot back then. We also didn’t need reservations then. You could pull in and ask the camp host for a spot and they would let you stay as long as you went online and filled out the form 😊 it looks very different now!
The main building for hot showers was locked up and not being used anymore. It's a shame. We do prefer not making reservations and being more spontaneous. 👍😀 Safe travels.
@@oneadVANtureatatime WHAT!! That’s crazy!! It’s just as beautiful as we remember though!! Sometimes reservations are necessary in this life🧡 We have to reserve often cause of Zachs work, we have to have showers when he’s working 👎🏽 booo!! Safe travels to y’all as well!! 😊
Fantastic video Carrie and Dave!!! We are definitely going to add this spot to our list of must do’s. Again thanks so much!!! I wanted to extend an invite to our place on Norris Lake at Waterside Marina, in Andersonville, TN. We live 30 minutes from Knoxville in our Travel Trailer right on the water. We have a pontoon so we could show you the lake you could relax Roodle could swim and have a ball playing with Mako! Thanks again for making these wonderful beautiful informative videos!! Amazing and wonderful area. Thank you for the info and video of how to look for these beautiful places and make reservations ahead of time. Enjoy watching your videos 🙌👍💖
Thank you, Febe! Florida has been a challenge. Thankfully we just found another opening in a water district where we want to be. They were all full last time we checked. 👍😀
Definitely a great campsite. The amenities are amazing. Great you got so many days. We went to Stuart last year and walked the boardwalk too. Neat town. We love driving the back roads of Florida 👍🏼
Dave & Carrie, @ 19:26 did you happen to see what looks like a shark or dolphin? On the right hand side of the screen you can clearly see a VERY LARGE fish as the drone moves over it. My guess is a shark. Just wanted to share. Carol and I are going to Dupuis in late April.
Fantastic video Dave and Carrie. You now have Pam excited about our upcoming stay there. Enjoyed the drone footage. Pet Roodle for us and thanks as always for making such beautiful Saturday mornings.
+Lawrence Canright it’s going to be very hot in August! Also be careful and on the lookout for rattlesnakes that time of year. The camp host told us there was one living along one of the fence lines.
@@oneadVANtureatatime Thanks for the heads up on the snake. Just kidding about August. We will probably be camped along the Mississippi in Wisconsin in August.
Yes be ever so careful as 🐊 will hide near tall creek and lakeside grassy areas as well as nest in such. Thanks for sharing this free camping area as I was unaware of such here in Florida.
Thank you for the heads up, Linda. One of our Florida van life friends was bitted by a raccoon a few weeks ago during day light. She got out to help direct the van back in a parking spot. It had rabies! She had to go to the ER. I guess you never know what's hiding in the bush here in Florida. Stay safe. 👍
Gosh Dave-I really enjoyed your drone footage in this video. My late honey & I stayed free in Ortona Lock & Dam for documenting manatee using the locks to pass through the state. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome "documentary". Ah ha ha. Those gators can be very vocal especially in mating season 😂😘🥰❣️
Thanks for the address and other good info! Dogs are a favorite of alligators so please keep Roodle far away from any bodies of water. We've got gators everywhere in Fla.
Could definitely see you guys living on a boat after van life. Roodle was SO CUTE trying to shop the tables at the market. 😄 Perhaps a big benefit to alligator infested waters is that they keep those waters more preserved for wildlife. People have encroached on and destroyed so much natural habitat. It's nice when some is set aside just for the wildlife. Thanks for another great video. Take care guys!! 🥰
Thank you, Meg! That marketplace in Stuart was great fun. Now we want to check out more and what a great way to learn about mushrooms 🍄 Yes! The alligator are keeping the land and swamps wilder. 👍😀😀🐊
I was surprised to find you two in Florida. I was down there the last week of October and beginning of November. The traffic and humidity just about did me in. I wanted to give it more time, but there was a hurricane on it's way. I really didn't get to explore much. I met family in Orlando. My kids were so worried about me, I ended up staying at Cracker Barrels. Yuk! Maybe next year!
The camp host there is great and really does a great job checking permits and enforcing the rules. We went into the kill zone to check it out. Hunters bury their carcasses in a deep hole and somehow the Turkey vultures are able to drag those carcasses out and pick them dry. Pretty cool but definitely smelly.
My brother inlaw took his million dollar brand new boat across from the gulf to the Atlantic through those lochs and promptly blew an engine through the hull and had to be choppered out he and his family 😢.
I live on the north shore of Montreal Quebec Canada and wish to finally realize my snowbird dream in Arizona BLM but would love to get away from our severe winters here in Quebec and come to Florida at the Water management districts but when checking out their websites I’m wondering whether us Canadians can since it requires a US Zipcode in their online inscription? I guess I’ll have to contact them? Maybe just for US citizens? A real summer feel in Florida! Warmer than Arizona!
@@oneadVANtureatatime OK thank you! I guess I'll call them! Can't wait to start my nomadic life next year! My apartment will be taken over by my 25 year old son and his girlfriend who work and who'll pay my very low rent since in the city they'd struggle with the very high city rent! My rent is super low! They're super happy to take over my place while I'll travel and basically live in my upcoming ProMaster 2500! I think I'll opt for the shorter 136 wheel base Diesel rather than the longer 159! Does your van park in regular car parking spaces? I think you guys have the 159 wheel base one? So great to be able to keep my nice apartment ! Cool! That'll help the finances! The one I,m eyeing in Montreal is the Diesel 139 also because it has the captains chairs to be able to install the swivels! The 159 ones I've found have the captains chair driver one and the double passenger side one so it can't swivel! I'm getting a 2015 used one! Or 2016 since the new ones are more expensive! It would be amazing to be able to meet you when I head to the states!
We love Florida but I’m (Jen) allergic to all blood sucking insects and it makes it hard to enjoy some locations. Any tricks you have learned along the way to combat them would be an awesome gem of info!! ❤️❤️
+Wisdomseeker we have enjoyed Florida…. Lots of planning involved! January has been reAlly hard to schedule anything as EVERYTHING is booked up. We’ve stayed at a few Cracker Barrel’s
Fantastic video and extremely well done! What an amazing free camping spot. The only thing that bothers me about Florida is the alligators in the fresh water. How far do they travel out from the water? I really enjoyed seeing the shots of lake Okeechobee and learning some things about it. That was really interesting. Imagine, only 10 ft deep, wow! Very interesting video. Carrie, you looked extra pretty in this video. So glad you are finding wonderful places to stay for free... Outstanding. 👍😁
I wish you had recorded the creatures sound. I wonder if you could rent a boat and do that water way from one side to the other? It's amazing how hot it is in January. Wouldn't want to be there in the Summer. Great Farmers Market. Did you go swimming in the Ocean? Thank you for all you Great information.
I tried to record the sound but he/she/it only did it twice! I first time I was totally caught off guard! We just waded in the water. Dave wasn’t feeling well…. Still recovering from a cold he had during Christmas time. He is all better now!
19:18 the drone caught a shark swimming. It's on the right side of the screen (top from bottom) for a about 8 seconds or so. I just assumed Dave saw it, but wanted to play ball with Roodle so he just flew over it.
There is actually another one at 19:32 that comes from the top down, headed in the opposite direction, before the scene cuts. If you still have the raw unedited footage, you would be able to see that one longer.
+Wuj Bradski I went back to look at the unedited version and there are definitely two sharks!!! It’s really hard to see them on the small screen when Dave is flying! We once caught a moose and didn’t even know it until I was editing the video!
Flying under the bridge following the boats (around 16:43) would have been fun to watch. I don't think I've ever seen a drone flown under a bridge. Any particular reason?
First video we've seen from you guys and we loved it!❤ We are planning a trip there this winter (part of January & February). Where would you suggest to stay on the day out of the park after the 8 nights maximum before returning? We haven't been to Florida in years.
Yes! There were two restrooms/shower houses. The newest one was being worked on and should be back up and running by the end of January according to the camp host 😃
@@oneadVANtureatatime the bin on the end..while she was talking about the pink oysters...that white thing was quickly rocking around.....weird. lol. At about 22:41. You pointed at something and asked if it was local...just after that
Quick question for you regarding Dupuis. When leaving with your van for a day trip do you leave anything on the site to indicate that the site is occupied? We have reservations in February and are really looking forward to it. Thanks.
🚨 Y’all might want to 🦆tape a mirror onto a yardstick and lower out the door prior to exiting one’s vehicle as a gator, poisonous snake or coyote might be lurking beneath. As I get older I’ve become ever so paranoid of such.
Yes! We didn't realize it until we got a few comments. I can't wait to check it out on a big-screen TV somewhere. We once didn't even notice a moose until later in New Hampshire. 😂👍 Good eyes!
+Craig Betts he does not pay any attention to coyotes singing but will bark his head off if he sees one! He also notices other wildlife…especially deer 🦌 I’ve been trying to get him to not chase them😃
@@oneadVANtureatatime my last dog was a lab and we lived out in the suburbs and deer would sometime walk thru the back yard, he would go crazy wanting to get out, I don't know if you ever break them of wanting to chase deer or cats

+James Bene cool! Now we just need to play the lottery!
That is a KICK Butt free camp ground!!!
Do they have buses 🚌 out that way , we do on the west coast, there nice !,
Indiantown is A LOT different than Stuart. I wish I could afford to move to Indiantown because there is still virgin land there.
👍 Are the public bathrooms cleaned regularly?
Yes! There were two restrooms/shower houses. The newest one was being worked on and should be back up and running by the end of January according to the camp host 😃
I live close to that campground, always wanted to go. I tent camp. What site # were you on? Thanks
+Robin Underwood I think it might have been #4
Big shark at 19:26!
We didn't notice the 2 sharks until we got some comments. 😂😂 Our screens are too small for our old eyes.
2 Sharks spotted in the rocky reef area at 19:40!
How many other free campgrounds do you know of in FL and other states?
Lots! That’s pretty much all we do is free camp 🏕️
I'm in OLD TOWN....it hasn't been hot here. WHY was that white mushroom thing in the bin MOVING?
I didn't see it move but we did notice a couple sharks in the drone footage.😂🐬
@@oneadVANtureatatime the bin on the end..while she was talking about the pink oysters...that white thing was quickly rocking around.....weird. lol. At about 22:41. You pointed at something and asked if it was local...just after that
Minute 19:29 shark minute 19:39 shark
Quick question for you regarding Dupuis. When leaving with your van for a day trip do you leave anything on the site to indicate that the site is occupied? We have reservations in February and are really looking forward to it. Thanks.
+On The Off Ramp we left our chairs out and a blanket on the table with no problems
🚨 Y’all might want to 🦆tape a mirror onto a yardstick and lower out the door prior to exiting one’s vehicle as a gator, poisonous snake or coyote might be lurking beneath. As I get older I’ve become ever so paranoid of such.
Came to see you today at the tiny house festival but they want to $20 to get it so I left too bad I wanted to meet you guys😢
+Selene Inparadise so sorry to have missed you!
I think I saw a shark in the drone water shot.
Yes! We didn't realize it until we got a few comments. I can't wait to check it out on a big-screen TV somewhere. We once didn't even notice a moose until later in New Hampshire. 😂👍 Good eyes!
There are two sharks!
Make sure he doesn't step on fire ants. They are horrible. Our little Winkie got into them and had to take her to the vet for shots. Take care!!
+Anna Larson oh no! We were introduced to fire ants on our last Florida trip! We are on the look out this trip!
did the howling of the coyotes bother Roodle at night or does he not care about the wildlife
Hi can you use a generator here?
Yes you can! You cannot use it all night…. They will come knocking asking you to turn it off.
@@oneadVANtureatatime thank you , will definitely check this out next year, we have April left and i found a campground for the whole month. Near cocoa beach, close to shopping, at a decent price. We are canadain so our money is not worth a lot. Btw great video.
That's the only problem with flying by the seat of your pants. You don't have money to eat at the restaurant by the pier.
What is the address?
Can someone give me a numer to call my son had a trabsplant and we want to go to get away. Please help
Northerner
Actually a westerner😂
Dogs must be leashed at all times? Oops.
