In Thor's defense, you can't _entirely_ blame him. You see, like people are saying, Thor wanted Thanos to die slowly and suffer for what he did. Plus, no one told him Thanos had or was about to get the last stone, the Mind Stone. But Thor should have cut his arm off first. Alas, he was too focused on revenging, not avenging.
I think this puts way too much weight on Thor's actions. The reality is that when someone wants to do terrible things, no-one is to blame for them doing that, but the one doing it. You can't blame the victim.
Its sort of a running theme throughout the movie. The other time where Thanos nearly lost was broken up by Peter Quill trying to get revenge for Gamora’s death.
According to me, Stormbreaker could sustain that blast because it is made of the same metal the gauntlet is made out of, Uru. If Thanos applies the full energy of the stones to melt stormbreaker/destroy it, he risks melting and disabling the gauntlet as well. Thanos is a guy who is too focused on his mission even if it meant sacrificing his friends or himself. And his mission was to eliminate half of every living thing in the universe. So saving himself from Stormbreaker was not in the list of his priorities. OR perhaps Thanos didn't apply the full energy of the stones because he thought that the blast that he sent towards Stormbreaker would be enough to stop it. He was just wrong.
The last line of the movie does not get enough attention. Steve Rogers, Captain America, THE symbol of all symbols. He explifies bravery, hope, and tenacity in all his actions. He has been knocked down several times and always gotten back up with his trademark "I can do this all day." But right at the end... he lets but two words out in the most defeated voice you've ever heard.
This moment of inevitable incoming doom was EPIC to witness in theater in my 40 years of watching movie. What an experience. The loss. The fear. Spiderman sense telling him he was next was terrifying.
Was the end of infinity war one the eerie deafening silence and creepy ending the World for you on place 1 ! ? Should i watch infinity war ending too in cinema or a Bit dangeroues ! ??
I love how Thanos acts in the red world vision. He sees Gamora as a child, facing out into nothing. He stumbles, moving slowly, and asks “Daughter?” In a choked voice, likely due to the fact he thought he’d never see her again and feels great remorse at having sacrificed her.And yet there she is, when he first found her, this tiny girl who he took and grew to love like he never loved anyone else. She asks him did he do it, and he says it quietly yes, because while he feels accomplished at having done what he set out to do, but realising all he’s lost, and the thing he misses the most is right in front of him. Here I think he genuinely doesn’t feel happy, because he’s realised he’s lost the person he loves the most, and now his victory seems hollow. And then she asks him what it cost, and he says everything, looking at her. He’s lost his black order, and most importantly of all, he lost her, the person who he loved and saw as the daughter he always wanted. And his last memories of her are of throwing her to her death, as she desperately tried to escape.
That old saying delling your soul to the devil right? I don't see as literal thing, more is a metaphor personally. But that is exactly what Thanos did. His grief over the loss of gamora drove him to seek the ultimate power to alleviate his grief. However the power he gained destroyed himself. He ended up never getting gamora back and wrecking the lives of half of the beans in the universe in his rage. And in the end he got nothing he wanted nothing at all. And the only thing he was left with was his ultimate sorrow of his loss and actually made his grief worse. And it is very much about human nature, the moral and plot of this movie cuz it's very deeply into the human soul in my opinion. People used to see used to see superhero movies as more about you know the comic lore or okay yeah hype characters bit of good acting but not on the level of other genres of movies right? Action drama suspense, they were all based on more acting and addressing the human condition far more than these gimmicky superhero movies right? Well in my opinion, infinity war proved be on a shadow of it out that that is not always the case with superhero movies. This was a profound movie weather you ever read marvel comics, whether you enjoyed superhero movies in the past for various reasons or not. This really was a Hallmark movie for what an awesome movie was like any other movie! Of course now that the Infinity war saga is over, a lot of people feel the marble movies do not approach anything close to this level of great acting plot and lore/ 3:29 action combined togethe. They feel marvel is really sold out to post Infinity war hype and are mainly doing it for money and riding the wave of the popularity of the avengers saga. I can understand that but at the same time to a certain degree I say how do you even top this? Maybe you can right? They're always movies that seem like the absolute pinnacle of acting and drama and quality that people say will ever be topped, but then eventually they are topped because that's how life works! But even then I don't know how marvel could immediately follow up with another grand epic saga and series of movies that were even close to Infinity war. So I'm okay with what happened after this and I am still very happy that Infinity war was such an awesome movie!
The most powerful, central and final villain of the Infinity Saga is - according to you - "one of the all-time greatest villains in the Infinity Saga"? Hot take.
He is so relevant even now. Literally every movie and show after Endgame is either a direct consequence of Thanos' actions or he is referenced to. Best villain in the MCU imo. Phase 4 is a total mess of multiverse. It's a different direction and I am enjoying it, but having an overarching big bad just hits different. We waited many years for Thanos to finally appear. That fear when the trailers dropped and he spoke in such a cocky attitude, I miss that feeling
Its so masterful how they circled back to the beginning of the movie here with this moment, paying off the conflict that Thor took so personal in the beginning. For Thanos to have achieved his goal, Thor showing up and proving here that HE IS the most powerful avenger......only for it to ultimately mean nothing. These movies are masterclass in story telling.
Did you guys know at 2:42 when Steve said “where’d he go” they thought about killing off Thor instead of Bucky… after Cap asked where thanos went Thors last line before he perished was going to be “he vanished.. I failed…. I’m sorry” before disappearing and then Bucky would live in exchange but they shut it down almost immediately because Thor was an original
I know Avengers endgame first 2 hours were so good with thor and won't be that good with Bucky but imagine thor was gone and then How Freakin Badass he Again Returns Against Thanos Army in Endgame After Hulk Snap...oh gosh 😊
That 2:25 axe/hammer thing dropping to the ground - sounding the bell toll just as people start disappearing Tiny detail but still one of the many reasons why this movie made $2 billion worldwide
What's creepy is the directors said that those who vanished on a plane would return on the ground, but Wandavision showed that even that is utterly terrifying
This movie had everyone in a chokehold. Kids were crying in the theater and after we all walked out it was like being in limbo. I heard someone say "Did they just lose"? Chills
Just imagine this being the second MCU movie you have ever seen... I didn't start watching the MCU until Black panther came out, which was the film right before this one. Since then, I have probably watched every film at least three times, especially doing the corona lockdown Nothing will ever be better than the infinity saga
Yeh I say Zemo was the best mcu villain until Thanos because of that. They're usually weak, or a copycat of the hero or dont have anything deep. Zemo was so cool in civil war if you think about it
Unlike Star Lord, I can't say I blame Thor for his decision when confronting Thanos. He watched Thanos stab his old friend in the heart, slaughter his people, and slowly choke his brother to death in front of him. He wanted to save the universe, but he also wanted to watch the life leave the Titan's eyes just like Loki.
Anyone who watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 knows Quill is an unstable hothead who could never deal with the loss of his mother. When Ego admits he killed Quill's mother remember what his immediate reaction was? Within seconds he was trying to blast Ego to bits lol. Gamora was the same deal. When Thanos admitted he killed Gamora it just set Quill off again and that hot-headed manchild anger resurfaced again.
@@hitmanyr2kHQ would you react that way if you learn that the deadbeat dad you're reconnecting actually killed your mom? And on a sidenote, T'Challa as a "better Star-Lord" is just badly stupid, pandering, and gratuitous, no matter the effort brought by Chadwick Boseman. It's almost like the way the universe revolves around that T'Challa is like a grotesque parody of how Mar-Vell in the comics was respected by even his enemies.
I truly didn’t think they had the balls to pull off the Infinity Gauntlet storyline’s most iconic moment. Even with all the brilliant work the MCU had brought us up to that point, I was expecting a half hearted attempt at the snap. Actually, I didn’t think Thanos would do it. I had convinced myself that this was too far for even this series… …but as soon as those fingers snapped… I knew I was wrong and they were indeed going to do it. As each character morphs into ash, I was thinking to myself in the theater “Holy shit, this is happening. Thanos won…” Truly a punch to the gut. My friends and I… we were all in tears, comforting each other knowing we have a second chapter to go… but, dude, I can’t explain it… Leaving the theater that night… man… that’s a memory that’ll forever stick with me.
Thor metaphorically fumbled the ball at the one yard line. Could have prevented the snap, but let his revenge get in the way. Him and Star Lord deserve each other.
Nah groot hands can be that powerfull because it has merged with strombreaker and strombreaker got power from Thor so yeah. And you know powerfull Thor is.
It was not broken, if you see it again when thor threw the storm breaker and hit thanos you watch closely it's not broken. It has thor's power so it's also going to be strong.
All the characters' clothing got dusted too, so they seem to be using a more magical definition of what it means to be a living being than a literal definition. Otherwise Stormbreaker's handle should have also dissolved since it was made from Groot's arm.
The arm is technically part of Bucky because he can move and use his arm however he wants but maybe if the vibranium was not connected to the rest of his body it wouldn’t had disappear
It's not literal, the entire thing is caused by the user, so it's all up to Thanos. If he wanted to he could have only killed the upper half of all life (a.i. literal waist up, entire torso gone)
The biggest factor of this scene. The silence. No dramatic music or special sound effects. Just the real world silence. It makes us really take in what is happening cause our hearing isnt distracting us with the music. All we could do was just watch and observe over a decade of characters just turn to dust

Agreed, should have cut off his gauntlet arm, then keep him alive to fully witness his defeat.
I think this puts way too much weight on Thor's actions. The reality is that when someone wants to do terrible things, no-one is to blame for them doing that, but the one doing it. You can't blame the victim.
The thing was getting his arm wouldn't have been as easy.

The truth is stormbreaker has the ability to absorb energy used against it.
I figured Stormbreaker was just transporting the beam using the Bifrost and not actually absorbing it.

Fantastic Explanation 👋
That's what I go when I saw this scene, such a deep description of this scene. Great job
