He watched it happen as he say his mum and father die. He then sat there on his body mourning him. He survived the full blast of the power stone. He then forged stormbreaker, cam to wakanda and was thirsty for his revenge. He overpowered all six infinity stones from thanos and beat thanos. He had him at his mercy but his vengeance and feelings had got in the way and he paid the price. He knew he was the strongest avenger and that he was the only one who could stop him when he had all six but he failed non the less. That’s why his victory was no victory at all. Every time I watch clips from these two films, I'm reminded what a great privilege it has been to be alive and see these characters brought to life so masterfully in such a moving, emotional way. These films, Infinity War and Endgame, are the pinnacle of superhero cinema.
This was honestly the most terrifying scene in all of the MCU movies to me. To see Thanos that helpless and casually getting his arm cut off before getting beheaded... it felt incredibly surreal in cinemas to the point I thought this must have been an illusion.
@@blackirontarkus3156 He wasn't the same, as he even says in the scene, he used the stones to destroy the stones, and it nearly killed him. I remember watching this movie opening night and how impactful these scenes were to watch the characters we grew to know and love over the years go through such struggle and hardships. The Russo Bros really know how to tell a story.
I somehow get the feeling that, after the snap, Thanos would have been a much better father to Gamora and Nebula. Like if he ran into them on that garden planet and they were little kids, he would have been a better father. He found them when he was on his life's mission, so it was "Help Daddy with his job" or...well, there was no other choice. Even how he acted, you could feel like he changed. Like he might have spent a lot of time reflecting on his choices in life.
yep, now that his goal was completed he was willing to just spend the rest of his days chilling and obviously didn't care about death at this point either. it's so rough because you can tell just from how he treats nebula here he maybe would've atoned for what he did, intentionally or not.
The thing that bothers me most about this scene is wondering how the hell the Hulkbuster suit got underneath the floor. Does it burrow? It makes so much noise when it moves, how do you not hear that?
@@goldstarcwi superhero movies like these don't make much sense at all. thor, hulk, captain america etc. are powerful, yes. but in a war, their contribution is pretty much minimal. here we have intense scenes of them doing acrobatic moves and defeating a hundred of opponents by themselves. out of maybe a hundred thousand. that's like 0.1% of the enemy force yo.
This scene was sad in a number of ways but the bit that hit me hardest was Thanos finally seeing Nebula in a positive light, giving some kind words to her only for neither to get to enjoy the moment for a second longer.
Brilliant story telling. Wild how exposed every character is at this moment. Like a raw nerve. All the cool is blown. Our hero's vanquish the enemy but still fail to win the day. Avengers is really put together well. I am ENTERTAINED!!
Thanos' last words #1 (2018 Thanos)- 'I AM INEVITABLE!' then Thor beheads him. Thanos' last words #2 (2014 Thanos)- 'I AM INEVITABLE' then Iron Man snaps and he turns into dust.
I didnt think of it at the time, but how brilliant to have it come down to the OG 6, then to Tony and Nat, to give one final go and save the universe. They could have snapped anyone and made anything work, but it HAD to be the og 6. Everything comes from them.
I think about this scene all the time...them working together to pin him down, his weak but satisfied look knowing he succeeded, Nebula vouching for his truthfulness and her looking away when he shows a shred of kindness, Thor immediately decapitating him upon realizing he is of no use anymore (and getting revenge for all he lost), Nebula closing his eyes, and the music swelling as Thor walks away. Such a raw scene, wish I could rewind time and see Endgame in the theater for the first time again.
The look fo guilt on Thor’s face when he kills him. Thor didn’t know what to do when he finally said that, he felt the whole universe rested upon his shoulder when he failed to stop Thanos’s snap.
@@anthonyhenderson3625I mean, when Thor was overweight, he WAS dealing with depression. His depression made him turn to food and drinks to become overweight
I love the remix of Porch that plays after Thanos dies. It's soul-crushing, letting you know just how badly the Avengers lost and that (for the time being) everyone Thanos killed with the Snap will stay dead.
After knowing Natasha's backstory (in Black Widow movie and Hawkeye series), this scene hit really hard for her. She probably knew that her sister and her family also dusted in the snap. After knowing that Thanos had reduced the stones into nothing but atoms, she probably get very emotional and sadness as seen in this clip.
Exactly. I like Tor honk that the reason she sacrificed herself so readily in Endgame was so that Yelena could come back at all costs. I loved the Black Widow movie and the insight it gave to us about Nat’s past and her family.
it is in fact, shown in the movie, she broke down in tears around 15 minutes later when she thinks that no one is around, not just probably, she do feel very emotional and sad about the whole ordeal
What made Thanos such a great villain was how honorable he was. Respecting Stark, and then sparing his life after getting the Time Stone, and destroying the stones since he didn't want them for himself. He used the stones for his purpose (despite it being messed up) and when he was done he disposed of them
Is it messed up though? In this universe its not infinite space, the universe has a set size and was on a death spiral of overconsumption. In reality hes right, and on top of that the stones gave them a painless death all at once.
The MCU will never again reach the heights of Endgame,From IronMan to Endgame as a DC Comics Fanboy,I have to admit the movies were awesome. An 11 year spell(2008-2019) never to be equalled.
The nothing but a temptation line is interesting because it implies that Thanos had sometimes wavered between thinking he was right and wrong about his plan. So instead of giving in to his weakness he instead destroyed the stones.
Thor randomly lobbing his head off caught me so off guard in the theatre. As a movie buff I think this moment and how infinity war ended were done perfectly because it made the entirety of the plot from then on unpredictable. I was just sat there, mouth open like.... 😳Uhhhh???? It was so... Definitive. Thor ended the conversation AND my theories for the plot with a PERIOD. I somehow get the feeling that, after the snap, Thanos would have been a much better father to Gamora and Nebula. He found them when he was on his life's mission, so it was "Help Daddy with his job" or...well, there was no other choice. Even how he acted, you could feel like he changed. Like he might have spent a lot of time reflecting on his choices in life.

2:02 "Vengeance has consumed him"
What made Thanos such a great villain was how honorable he was.
