I've always felt a connection with her story.
Not many people in the public eye are quite as open about their issues, including with family and mental health.
Much of what she went through as a child and adult (other than the stardom) is anything that others from broken homes and dysfunctional families have gone through. It's a common thread in a lot of us.

Angelina is an amazing woman and the way she deals with her hardships in life only set her as person to look up to, when having dark moments in life.
“Hardships” might be the wrong word. She is the child of a Hollywood star, and grew up in Beverly Hills. I’m not denying her mental health problems or her addiction etc, I just think ‘hardships’ is the wrong word for them.
Her dad was not a good person. Anyone who tells their kid that is a jerk. What made him so righteous? She had been through a lot of things, and I think that she turned out just fine. She is who she is because of HER.

I like Angelina Jolie. She lost her childhood because of circumstances out of her control. She is a survivor and a strong mother. Her priorities are her children and telling her story to help others. I respect her candid and honest reveals. It's never about your past but how you move forward. She survived and is living her best life with her six children.
Whether you hate her or love her, you can't deny that she's a good mother to all her 6 children. Not many people nowadays yes including rich and famous would be able to raise 6 children unproblematically as she did. She had such a past that most people wouldn't have even imagined her to be the person she is now. After adopting Maddox, Angelina seriously did turn her life around and really did change for the better and I have to give it to her cuz not many people can turn their life around or even change themselves for better that easily, it's much harder especially with a kid. And now Maddox is in one of the prestigious Uni in SK studying Biochemistry. Not only Maddox but all her kids seems close and protective over Angelina.

I love how she never acted plastic or became obsessed with her beauty and fame. I have always admired her. She is almost an exact twin of her beautiful mother, with a little pinch of dad. Her daughter Shiloh carries a lot of her good genes and paired with Brads, made her a knockout.

Those hotlines are cheesy and unhelpful. All they do is state the obvious/common sense. They sound like robots and rephrase what you did or recommend a doctor. Really, nobody truly going through it is going to call those lines, as that's the last thing you want to do when depressed, and more depressing because they really dont get it. Making you feel more isolated. I only called once, as a peer specialist I was curious about their tactics. I have seen thousands of those pamphlets thrown in the garbage at any shrink I visited. The. Concept was created by someone who has no idea what it's like and employees equally ignorant people.
I think tragic details can be applied to so many millions of people but without the Millions of Dollars.
yep, and a great many of the grannies in this world today and greatgrans... many of them did exactly what many younger ones are doing today, they just wouldn't talk about it, and I understand that... people are people... and many of the users yesterday and today and tomorrow will become parents, grandparents and great-grand parents tomorrow... nothing is new under the sun after all, just a cycle.

Besides being one of the most absolutely beautiful women I’ve ever seen, I’ve always admired her no nonsense, honest approach. I love the fact that she’s straight up about her drug use, struggles as a teen, w her dad etc and also how she has grown as a mother to all of her children. @@laurarooney6030 I'm late but Pitt had a drinking problem and got physical with Maddox. Now her youngest child is 14, it's not really her decision to choose if Pitt would be in the kids life, that's their own decision. Now Angelina has a personality disorder, she used a lot of drugs but she's clean and was suicidal trying to take her life twice. I give her credit for dealing with all this and still caring for her kids. Maddox is an adult so is Zahara, they have the option to see their father if they please. Both Pitt and Jolie are clean and healthy, but I think she really doesn't let the kids near Brad because of his abusive ways. Because she's a mother and once someone hurts your child, you never want that person around again. So it's more of a mother's instinct.

In many ways I totally agree with you! This comes from a nurse who worked in private sectors of alcohol/drug rehab units,also worked for the VA hospital system. Recidivism is very high unfortunately in both venues of treatment areas.
I agree 👍. There is still so much research to do on addiction each individual is different and the provider needs to be able to recognize this when treating addicts

Phase always sounds like something you have as a teen like dressing a certain way, but then get back to normal. But having a mental health issue isn't a phase. It always sounds weird und down played calling a mental health break just a phase. At least to me.

Joe's situation made me think about a friend of mine, around 10 years old, she lost her mum, soon after her father signed the 6 kids into care, they stayed there until they left school, at 16, sadly one of the boys was killed within months of leaving school/care system. During her school years, my friend looked forward to leaving so she could 'gather her sisters and brothers, take them out of the care system and be their mum'. ...oh ...weird ...I seem to have lost all fcks for Jolie.
