Like my dad would tell me. Don’t look at paying off your house like a liability. Look at it like you are stashing money in a savings account that will yield you a higher return in the future. I paid off my house and I don’t regret it one bit! You can have a paid off house and also have wealth. Keep pushing for your goals! 👏🏽👏🏽
I love your analogy with the cruise. So sorry to hear about your friend. Who wants to even be a billionaire? Hell, for me, I don't want to even be a millionaire. I just want to have my mortgage paid off, be debt free and HAPPY! That's all. 😊🙏🏽
And That's the thing we can't confuse Being a tangible millionaire with having millionaire experiences. I have millionaire experiences every other day and they are priceless.
You're preaching TRUTH today, sis. They put us on the track to run a race that we didn't want to be in in the first place. Worker bee mentality will keep us reaching for unattainable goals that aren't conducive to our happiness nor well being. We need to question things instead of blindly following others.
Exactly!!! Figure out what's really important to you and then walk that walk and hold tight to that because allllll of them will try to tell you you should want something different...something more.
I was a stay-at-home mom married to an addict for 15 years and all of our money went to his addiction. On the other side of the divorce I had a house with $5,000 worth of equity and no retirement or savings. But I felt fantastic! Since then I have been playing catch-up with all my financial goals. As part of my job I frequently see other people’s hefty retirement accounts and think how far behind I am. Thank you for the reminder that for my personal situation, I am doing great!!!
Yesssssss!!!! This is what I'm talking about...This world would have you so caught up playing the comparison game that we forget to look at the whole story. You are amazing!!! 15 years with an addict and being here to comment on my video and even be interested is amazing - because the struggle is real...my mom was with my dad until I was 14 years old. He was an addict and he made our lives very very hard. I am proud of her and I am proud of you. You are doing great!!!!
This comment made me sad because it made me think of my grandma. She is in her 80s and she is so concerned about leaving money to me. I have expressed to her many times grandma I don't need nor want your money as I have absolutely done well for myself because of her emotional support through the years. So at this point whenever my family vacations I bring her with us because while she won't directly enjoy the money at least this way she will indirectly. Also I do believe grandma did pass along generational wealth and while it wasn't a dollar amount it was the knowledge and financial principles necessary for me to do better in life. I am now actively passing that on to my kids and if I do it right they will do the same with their kids and thus generational wealth was created and it started with Grandma. This occurred whether she leaves a dime or not 💖 but that's my little opinion 🥰
Thank you!!!! You only need in retirement enough to cover what sustains YOUR choice of life! The million is great but it is not for everyone! Love your life and make your own choice of happiness for YOU!
Whew chile this video hit home. Yes paying off debt is great. But there needs to be a balance. We are NOT on this earth to be a slave to a 9-5. We are here to LIVE. Yes we are to be good stewards of our money. Yes we are to be fruitful in that aspect. But it is not to be our life’s mission. What good is it to work your whole life paying debt when you take not one moment to enjoy the life God gave us. You can both be a good steward of your money AND enjoy your life. We all have different paths. I meant to add, I recently saw a video where a man died the day after he retired. Worked his whole life, did everything right. As soon as he reached the time to enjoy the fruits of his labor, he was GONE. 😢
Big CONGRATS on your success in life and in money! You are doing great indeed. For others, it's never too late to begin this journey. I began mine at age 48 with big big debt. Fifteen years later all is paid off, saved lots, house paid off, and lots of travel and good living in between. Embrace the numbers, develop a plan, work the plan and enjoy life. It passes all too quickly.
Videos like these really show that chasing contentment is better than chasing the competition. I don't think the comment you're responding to was malicious, it just comes from the bubble she has lived in. In fact there are some truths there but it's mixed with lies, half-truths, and judgement. Keep on the journey. Most people don't know what it even feels like to be debt free. You are so close to it.
Girl this spoke to me. It's been a while since I watched your videos. But my mom at 82 had a health scare. We're blessed she pulled through the surgery and no chemo. The doctors just want to watch her for the next couple of years. We went to the mall yesterday and Thursday first time out since the surgery three weeks ago. I cherished those moments, and I plan to make more. A cruise is next, then France. Yes, France. I live paycheck to paycheck for now, but trying different online businesses. I'm 59 trying to live my best life with what I have and what I can achieve. Thank you for that message and for putting things in perspective.
Whew, this was deep on so many levels. The concept and context of contentment, acknowledgement of loss and decisions surrounding them, and how other people can have a lack mindset that is projected onto others. When I say people cannot recognize the freedom marked by paying off debt, including a home. It’s like they think something is wrong with you. I’ve been advised to sell my house when it was a seller’s market, and told I needed to ‘upgrade’ my car, etc. FOR WHAT? They are PAID off! If people want to stay in the vicious cycle of debt, let them. As for me in my house, I am FREE, and that’s the ultimate upgrade. Now I can do ‘greater’ by investing and saving more, but statistics are proving that everyone isn’t making it to 67 to ‘enjoy’ retirement. If we can’t figure out how to enjoy life now, retirement is not going to change the dynamic. It is both a blessing and privilege to simply live…Honey, live and crush your goals simultaneously! Sorry for the long message.
Love love love this message! And thanks for getting it because this video hit so many points and it wasn't just about one thing in particular...its really about an overall mindset that for many of us was shaped by how AMERICA wants us to think.
Preach girl!! America sold us this bulls*t dream of working until you retire then live. Live life TODAY like there isn't a tomorrow. I left traditional work because I felt it no longer served me and was getting in the way of my purpose: to live on my terms. I don't really care about money; I care about having life experiences so I can have something to smile about with my grandkids when I'm old. When I talk to elders I like hearing their life stories, not about how much money they have, or made, or what they did to earn money etc. Also, I know people who died young and all they did was work up until death. I know people who busted their ass to pay off homes, only to lose it due to unpaid tax liens, I know people who still have mortgages in their 60s dam near 70s struggling to pay it with SSN income. I have seen so much that has shaped my perspective. So, I align with your message. Keep moving forward.
I've been watching you since you paid of your Tesla! You are doing super fantastic! We are so very different but I enjoy watching you! After 9 years of focusing on debt I am now living off of 10% of my income. Making 135-145k from main profession and side hustles and saving 90%of my income has been my focus for years but because it's my focus and what brings me happiness doesn't mean it has to be someone else focus or happiness! I love the way you live your life even if it's not the way I want to live mines! You are blessed and Unstoppable!!
You ARE doing great because you’re happy on your journey, and you’ve customized what balances you out. Most ppl don’t even know what to do with themselves when they retire, but once you do retire, you’ll have all these experiences and you’ll make many more experiences.
I respectfully disagree with the comment but fully agree with your response. All we’re guaranteed is this moment we’re in right now. I’m planning for tomorrow but living for today. Everything happens the way it’s supposed to. Kim was supposed to take that trip.🙏🏽
I’m glad I watch your videos. Thank you so much for the peace of mind. As a 34 year old I feel like I have to rush to get wealth, have financial freedom etc but then I realize it’s not making me happy. Thank you again for that clarity
Thank you for sharing about your friend. She left memories for her daughter through that experience to Greece. You are a blessing to women and particularly black women. You have taken the steps to become debt free and still live your dash. The dash represents what we do from cradle to grave. You are documenting real life, albeit your real life and most are just spectators and not doers. Thank you for including giving in your monthly budgets. #KeepLiving #KeepBuilding #KeepGiving as unto the Lord!
Thank you! Giving is a huge part of who I am...after the house is paid off I am adding a generosity fund category (that I may not share in videos - who knows) but I already started generating monthly ideas I'd like to execute.
YOU BETTA PREACH GWORLLLLLLLLLL LOL.. I was crying with you!! People are a mess! That lady need to go sit down somewhere being bitter!! Keep going ladybug!! We don't owe nobody else no explanation but GOD!!
You are great! I brag about you like we’re besties. I’m an OG subscriber and the commenter doesn’t understand who Tinesha is. They don’t understand is that happiness is priceless but money is literally countable. I have never heard anyone who is truly happy say “I was too happy in my life,” while having too much can be a problem - look at lottery winners. Tomorrow is promised so we owe it to our ourselves and our ancestors to cherish each day and each other. I lost my nephew who was more of a little brother in his 40s. He would always say “I’m so happy.” He lived so we could celebrate his life. If we continue to wait for the perfect time, we will be buried in our grave and someone else will be enjoying what could have been yours. I’m gonna give the commenter grace because i doubt that she gives it to herself.
Hi Tinesha, long time subscriber but I rarely comment on UA-cam videos. I liked your video today and have to say I have always considered my time watching you as “hanging out with a friend.” I appreciate how you set goals for yourself and adjust as needed - because honestly that’s what happens in the real world. And you’ve identified the priorities in your life and live (and spend) accordingly. I’m trying to align my spending with my priorities too. And I agree with you that doing so is GREAT! 😊
Ooohhhhhhhh girl…this right here is added to my playlist. You spoke FACTS - WE CHASING FACTS over here! Job well explained! Love the cruise illustration. Thank you.
You did give a word today. Like you said everyone’s journey will be different as long as you get to your destination. You don’t know what people are going through. Live your life and let others live theirs.
Building America- Generational Wealth that wasn’t paid out. And I agree I live and plan for the future at the same time. I won’t be miserable for a future I may not have.
Very well said! I agree with how you keep the fun in budgets! You make the money enjoy it while making financial gains. Being a billionaire is not necessary! You have motivated me so much and I look up to you! Be blessed and keep doing you 💛💛💛
I can hardly express the emotions I experienced while watching the video. I felt your pain in my heart. I feel like this message should be heard by a lot more people. Please feel good about your accomplishments and goals. Don't let that stranger make you feel less. Her statements were unnecessary and without personal knowledge of your journey. This video reminded me that the financial journey of others are non of my business. I have no right to negatively judge or comment unless invited or requested to be involved in some way. Take care, wishing you well.
Don’t take it personal that ladies comment is speaking from her point of view. Lots of those comments are people on the outside looking in. This is your life try not to get upset by strangers comments. Stay strong queen. I lost a good friend recently. I feel it everyday.
You are doing AMAZING!!! This video I needed. DEBT was stressing me out but I have a plan to pay it off and I am spending time with my daughters because that means more to me than stressing and getting sick because of debt. You so right as long as you are breathing you are great/ Thank you for sharing this. ❤
I always think of you as a long distant aunt when I watch your videos( hope that’s not offensive). I love you and as soon as you mentioned Ghana I thought of Kim. That’s how long I been here. Thank you for the lessons you teach us because you want to. You been on a roll you preached today.
Thank you so much for this video. Sorry for your loss. I'm starting over in my early 50s beating myself up from not being great., comparing myself to others. The peace I have is so much greater. I lost my dad's mom, my dad, and my grandmother in 30 days. There is a song out It's good to be alive but it's best to live! By Brent Jones I'm doing good keep pushing forward.
Life is about balance. I agree with you, I love a good budget (and a good time), but just because you can always sacrifice today's joy for more money tomorrow doesn't mean you should. Balance. Life is not just a money optimization puzzle. I'm glad you got to go to Ghana with your friend and make those memories. My family went this year too and it was a good chunk, but I don't regret it at all. My husband's father (who lives there) is not young, why wait to see him? My mother and stepfather came along too, they won't be here forever, and for that matter, neither will I. We flew a nice class on the plane and stayed in a very nice and comfortable hotel, don't regret it a bit. We're not going to be destitute in retirement, and some things are just better done younger. New subbie.
I don't think I have ever committed on your channel. As a fellow Gemini (6/17), you put your thing down on that!! I enjoy your channel and the content you give.❤
Everybody has an opinion just like everybody has their own debt journey. I have followed you since you went to Ramsey HQ...maybe even before. You have done AMAZING things in YOUR life and in the lives of those you love. Follow YOUR plan, Tinesha - God has his hand in it and on you. ❤
Wow. This was needed. I am in my late 30s. I was feeling defeated with my debt and I just hit 6 figures in my 401k. I had been trying to buy a home for 2yrs. Getting outbid several times and title issues were a bit much. I decided to sit out and get my finances in order and make memories in the interim. Thank you for the reminder. Your passion is appreciated 🤎🤎🤎🤎
Thanks hun! Life is an individual journey, and success comes from our own perspective! I appreciate you sharing this today! If we all just express gratitude for what we have, we all would be in such a better place! -Britt
I want you to do more videos like this one; not necessarily the response to the comment you got-but the part where you was cooking on comparing yourself to others - you spoke to my soul
@@FunandBudget and I am not a bot 😂 I told my wife about this. I talk to her about the same topic very often. Glad to see I’m not alone in my thoughts. 😊
I haven’t gotten past your reading the comment but you just had the scare of a lifetime recently. That carbon monoxide incident reinforced for me (& I wasn’t even there!) that our time here on earth is the most precious commodity. Also, traveling in moderation is for people who only moderately like to travel lol flights booked, honeyyyy. But that’s just my take. 😂 Different strokes, I guess… ❤ All love and blessings to you!
Thank you so much for this comment...and most don't even know about the carbon monoxide incident because I took the video down...but child, I ain't playing about this life...I am LIVING - I am ALIVE - we having fun with this thing...this gift. 💜
Damn! I needed that message today. I have been watching some of your videos over the past 2 years, and today, I just subscribe. That was a powerful message, and keep on doing the fantastic job that you are doing.
Yup...this was one of the reasons I chose to spend more money enjoying life rather than chasing financial goals with self-imposed dates (even tho I just gave myself a self-imposed date)...lol
Great conversation i feel this for myself also. Thats the great thing about finance its personal, each individual has to do whats best for them. What matters is your plan that you have on your financial journey. If your plan is to be broke bad plan. But if your planning to pay off debt, invest and have financial freedom good plan. But along the way enjoy life also. My goal is to pay off my house thats what makes me happy its my choice. But my only debt is my mortgage and i am consumer debt free and able to save, and invest that makes me happy and building memories with my family. Great conversation do what makes you happy.
You make good decisions. Not great decisions. But all you need to do is continue to make many good decisions over many years and you will be in a great spot. I love how you balance smart money moves while still enjoying the journey along the way. Keep up the great work!!
I really enjoyed this video omg! Peopñe always think they know what is best for you! Life is just that.....fleeting! You do NOT need a million dollars to retire. Folks are retiring everyday with nowhere near that and they are content.
Just subscribed! I'm 30 and my days are just consumed by how I'm going to pay off my student loans (my only debt). I'm going to be smart with my money, but I also need to enjoy my life while I still have breath in my lungs. Appreciate you for the reminder 🙏
People are sooo ignorant!!! Dont even be bothered with them haters who dont even make half of what u make, yet she gonna leave such an arrogant and stupid comment. I love you and your channel! I learned so much from your stories and different things that you have gone through. How you came from nothing to where you are and have that mindset is absolutely wonderful to listen to. Bless you Tinesha, you are awesome. Keep doin what u doin ❤
I have to believe that I expressed condolences on the loss of your friend! ❤️ I am pleased to hear that you expressed some feedback and your company issued an apology! That was HUGE to hear! It’s been a year since I got promoted! 🙌🏽 its been a year since I got the HELOC and used it to pay off the mortgage to my home. I have since paid down half of the HELOC… it’s mind blowing how much quicker I was able to do that vs extra mortgage payments. I just got a second promotion…. and I am less than one year from when I can retire!! I am so happy, comfortable and proud at having the opportunity to be in the financial position that I am in… especially with having to figure it out on my own. Sanity, peace of mind, health and happiness IS the only thing that matters!! There is no set rules to follow what another person does with their finances. It is important to be active doing SOMETHING. In my single status, I recently met two different men who were happy doing nothing to support themselves. Talk about being scared away and turned OFF! I am very saddened to hear about the loss of your family member. May he rest in peace 🙏🏾
@@FunandBudget Thank you so much. I also meant to say that you are living and enjoying your life with all that you are doing and accomplishing all the while with having a great partner to love, see your son succeed and engage with your host of family and friends. I have definitely been subscribed to your channel for quite some time and I am very happy and proud to see you live fully! It is truly heart warming where I wish more people would give themselves the same opportunities. In the end it’s up to your individual choices and decisions! Keep making moves!! 🙌🏽
The psychological benefits of a paid-off mortgage is enormous. I know that I could have put that money in the market and made more--possibly--but that wasn't a priority at the time. I started late in the market, but I am where I'm supposed to be at this point in my life. Tinesha, you do you and that's all that matters.
When I paid my house off, it was one of the happiest moments of my life! I am living on social security now and it is paying my bills with some play money left over. I don't owe anybody anything!! You are making wise decisions. Pay no mind to the naysayers!!!
At first I was on the side of the commenter saying that you could do so much more with your income, but I listened to your response and I think you are right. No one gets out of this life alive. Having a billion dollars doesn’t seem to make the billionaires happy. Bezos- divorced. Musk- 10 kid baby daddy who all his exs hate, Trump- gone straight crazy and self absorbed. Maybe having good experiences with the ones you love is better than a stack of money. I would like to have our house paid off so that we can reduce our expenses and save that $1,400 per month. That’s peace of mind. I don’t think the average person can build generational wealth the same way nepo babies can. I’m doing what I can to help my children graduate college with little to no debt. That’s the best I can do at this moment. My daughter is in her 3rd debt free year at a state school. I’m proud of that.
I'm proud of that too because getting a degree without debt is no easy feat - especially when a lot of people treat schools the same way some treat name brands - will pay a lotta money just to say they went to such and such in such and such state when no job I ever interviewed for asked me where did I get my degree.
@@FunandBudget You keep on keeping on. Everyone has an opinion about how you live your life. Until they are paying your bills their opinion doesn’t matter. ❤️Heck. My opinion doesn’t matter. 😂
Moving fast is good. Getting advice is good. You are budgeting in order to get more (having enough of your own in order to become a millionaire or not). You have set goals. Follow your own path.
Paying off a mortgage is sleeping peacefully at night. Did it in 7 years with no regrets. 🎉🎉
100% agree

One of the biggest flexes is having a paid off home. Unfortunately, Many don’t and never will experience that level of debt freedom!!!

👏🏽 Your entire response to this person’s hopefully “well-intentioned” comment shows how PERSONAL FINANCE and is SUPERB, Sis ❤ OH AND YOU ARE GREAT❤
YOU BETTA PREACH GWORLLLLLLLLLL LOL..
Thank you for being here...thank you for getting it and thank you for being an OG!
💜
Ooohhhhhhhh girl…this right here is added to my playlist. You spoke FACTS - WE CHASING FACTS over here! Job well explained! Love the cruise illustration. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!
😢 I understand...some of us, we feel when the time is near 💫
True. I've been traveling like this for a good 20 years - I (and my friends) have always tried to live a no regret life.
Bravo young daughter !!! You get it
Very well said! I agree with how you keep the fun in budgets! You make the money enjoy it while making financial gains. Being a billionaire is not necessary! You have motivated me so much and I look up to you! Be blessed and keep doing you 💛💛💛
Thank you 💜💜💜
the E N T I R E 28 minutes of this video is G R E A T!!
🤩 keep doing what works best for YOU, Sis!!
💜
This is a fantastic word. Chase greatness if you want, but good enough is good enough.
And you PREACHING in this video.
I am so proud of you Sister Gurl. You keep doing you. (Hugs)
You are doing AMAZING!!! This video I needed. DEBT was stressing me out but I have a plan to pay it off and I am spending time with my daughters because that means more to me than stressing and getting sick because of debt. You so right as long as you are breathing you are great/ Thank you for sharing this. ❤
Breathing inspired hugs
Everything about this video was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!Thank you for the inspiration. This was powerful.
Thank you for being here 3 years and counting :-)

Preaching…Live Your Life Like It’s Golden!!…
OMG!!! Thank you so much! Best video ever!!! Thank you! ❤
I always think of you as a long distant aunt when I watch your videos( hope that’s not offensive). I love you and as soon as you mentioned Ghana I thought of Kim. That’s how long I been here. Thank you for the lessons you teach us because you want to. You been on a roll you preached today.
Thanks day one neice!
I am sending you so much love!!!
New subbie.
Thank you so much and welcome to the family!
This is such a good message…so real and raw. Lifting up others like a boss.
I don't think I have ever committed on your channel. As a fellow Gemini (6/17), you put your thing down on that!! I enjoy your channel and the content you give.❤
thank you!
Everybody has an opinion just like everybody has their own debt journey. I have followed you since you went to Ramsey HQ...maybe even before. You have done AMAZING things in YOUR life and in the lives of those you love. Follow YOUR plan, Tinesha - God has his hand in it and on you. ❤
Thank you!
Thank you for this raw video. It has confirmed the journey I'm taking to pay off my home early, is the right one.
This message is so important. Keeping all of our "goals" into proper perspective is everything. I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend Kim.
Thank you for this video!! I am concentrating on creating experiences, especially at my age of 67!😊
I miss having defined goals like you have. What next, right? Embrace the journey and keep posting great videos!
I agree with you one thousand percent 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✝️
Very well said. I often watch your videos but today I subscribed. You talking truth !!! Thank you, thank you 🙏
Thank you so much!
I can try - lol but all of this hit me as I was talking so sometimes I never know what's going to come out of my mouth
This was one of the best Videos I have ever seen in my life!!!! Keep it up. Many need to hear this and let it soak in! Thanks
Wow, thank you!
@@FunandBudget and I am not a bot 😂 I told my wife about this. I talk to her about the same topic very often. Glad to see I’m not alone in my thoughts. 😊
You are blessed, not cursed! Keep shining!❤🎉
You’re a great inspiration to me. I pray I can pay off my home one day
That comment sounds like it came from a Becky. Not only are you doing great, but you're doing excellent! Thank you for sharing your inspiring journey.
I relate to you. Thank you for saying your truth.
You dont need an advisor, in my opinion, you got this!!
Very well spoken ❤❤❤ live your life❤❤❤. I’m sorry for your losses
Dropping so many gems! 💎💎💎
Thank you for this video. 😊
Damn! I needed that message today. I have been watching some of your videos over the past 2 years, and today, I just subscribe. That was a powerful message, and keep on doing the fantastic job that you are doing.
Thank you so much for being here.
Love this. saving this for when I'm stuck in the comparison game again. And need to stop moving the goal post on myself.
Yup...this was one of the reasons I chose to spend more money enjoying life rather than chasing financial goals with self-imposed dates (even tho I just gave myself a self-imposed date)...lol
Finally someone spoke my language you made it very clear sis
Thanks
Preach!!!!!
Power video, thanks for sharing.
I loved everything you said and the passion with which you shared it ❤Thank you, friend!
Thank YOU, Friend!
Amen Tinesha. Amen.
Love your video. You go girl!!!!!!!!!everything you said is a fact.
I would feel so crunchy if I had said those negative comments. Please let it go. You are doing so well. You go girl! 😅
You're doing an awesome job on your finances and enjoying your life 😊 keep it up ❤🎉 Thanks for sharing your budgets.
I really enjoyed this video omg! Peopñe always think they know what is best for you! Life is just that.....fleeting! You do NOT need a million dollars to retire. Folks are retiring everyday with nowhere near that and they are content.
Facts! We better stop letting America brainwash us into chasing a dream that keeps us on their treadmill going nowhere fast.
Preeeeeeach!!!! I love this!!!!❤❤❤❤
Just subscribed! I'm 30 and my days are just consumed by how I'm going to pay off my student loans (my only debt). I'm going to be smart with my money, but I also need to enjoy my life while I still have breath in my lungs. Appreciate you for the reminder 🙏
Thank you and Welcome aboard!

Preach sister
I have to believe that I expressed condolences on the loss of your friend! ❤️
I am pleased to hear that you expressed some feedback and your company issued an apology!
Thank you so much! And super congratulations to all you have accomplished
Well said 💛
The psychological benefits of a paid-off mortgage is enormous. I know that I could have put that money in the market and made more--possibly--but that wasn't a priority at the time. I started late in the market, but I am where I'm supposed to be at this point in my life. Tinesha, you do you and that's all that matters.
Love the video, You made some very good points and continued to do a great job 👍😊.
When I paid my house off, it was one of the happiest moments of my life! I am living on social security now and it is paying my bills with some play money left over. I don't owe anybody anything!! You are making wise decisions. Pay no mind to the naysayers!!!
Thank you for being an example of someone who's doing it and not just talking about it
At first I was on the side of the commenter saying that you could do so much more with your income, but I listened to your response and I think you are right.
