Man, I was having a really bad arena day. I lost 6 games in a row on the ladder and then went 1-3 on a premier draft. Seeing how poorly CGB's game vs mono-red went cheered me up. I'm sorry it went so bad for you CGB, but it went so bad that it actually is great content. The comeback after missing so many lands on game 3 was awesome
I've been playing a deck like this since M21 - I've managed to pull off the Vivian/Massacre Wurm Fetching Troll combo three times at FNM and it was amazing each time
Honestly, I enjoy the more unfiltered content. It’s nice to see that you have the same struggles and salt-inducing games that we all do. It’s easy to forget that we usually see your best games and then subconsciously think that we should win at the same rate. Thanks for the content. It’s incredible how good and necessary Scavenging Ooze has been in this standard meta. Wizards gets a lot wrong, but every now and then they get stuff really right. Re-printing Ooze was definitely right.

Even if the opp blocks with the pro-black Apparition you get to deal the full 8 from the troll because of trample. So you could have attacked for 16 left them at 2 and they'd be in a pickle.
Been using it for a month now, & got to mythic last session ;) a slightly different build I have been evolving over that month to suit the evolving meta.
Along with the people pointing out Heartless Act and the Viv token interaction, you didn't get to eat the Ox at 21:40 just because of their triggers, but because your opponent didn't exile it. The mill and exile happen at the same time on the stack.
In Magic after the final trigger resolves the turn player maintains priority, which means he could use its escape ability before CGB could exile it. The second trigger allowed CGB to respond to said trigger which allowed him to exile it. If Elspeth's Nightmare was the first trigger resolved, then Calls the Dead once Calls the Dead resolves and he chooses to not exile it he could then maintain priority and use the ability of the Ox. It is the same reason when someone casts a Planeswalker you can not use Planeswalker removal before they use a loyalty ability.
@@Manslayer2009 you should still be able to exile it anyway, right? It's still in the graveyard. I know about the tack clearing and the current player continuing their turn, just didn't think it would ever matter
@@m4stermodder Unfortunetly no, similar to Planeswalkers being casted and resolving. Once something has had the ability to resolve then it does its effect. The effects of the cards happen in order too. So for Calls the Dead it will Mill 3 cards. Then you can exile a creature or enchantment, then if you do such thing you summon a 2/2 Zombie. Every part of a card is stopped with a period. You play card effect in the order of operations, for example if the card said "Exile a creature or enchantment card from your graveyard. then if you do summon a 2/2 zombie. Mill 3 cards from the top of your library." you would do it in that exact order, meaning you would not be able to use the 3 cards milled for the exile effect. That is neither here nor there though, when that card effect is completely resolved the priority goes back to the turn player. Even in there is another ability on the stack, MTG just passes priority automatically, but if you turn full control on, after a trigger resolves. In this case "Calls the Dead" the turn player would have priority again before Elspeth's Nightmare resolves, then it would pass back to CGB. Think of it this way 1 Turn player plays card. 2 Turn player then chooses to pass priority or respond. 3 non-turn player responds. 4. Non-turn player chooses to pass priority 5. repeat 2-4 until no responses 6. Card resolves 7. Turn player takes priority So in this case it goes like this 1.Triggers on the stack 2. Turn player orders them 3. Calls the Dead first, Nightmare second 4. Calls the dead trigger 5.Turn player chooses to pass priority 6.non-turn player passes priority 7. Calls the Dead Resolves 8. Nightmare trigger 9. Turn player gets priority 10. Turn player passes priority 11. non-turn player responds to Nightmare 12. non-turn player passes priority 13. Turn player passes priority 14. Ooze resolves 15. Turn player passes priority 16. Non-turn player passes priority 17. Nightmare resolves 18. Turn player has priority- Complicated I know but that's how it works although I think I skipped some steps. You can do what is called "Maintaining priority" which allows you to play multiple cards at the same time too. So I could let's say play 2 instant cards at the same time as the turn player, then pass priority to the non-turn player to respond. @@m4stermodder You can exile cards on the stack if they're in the graveyard, when they're targeted by ability and such. The difference with escape is it "escapes the graveyard" it is now neither in the graveyard, hand or anything, it is on the stack, as you said. This means it can't be targeted by ooze. It can however be targeted by say a counter spell. Escape is an ability that allows you to cast the card at a different type of cost. Once activated it is treated as a casted card, not an ability of a card.
I run those with Kaerevek in this mono black control I have. I feel like it works alright over there. I have other -x/-x removal so the troll is my real finisher even if the wurm doesn't show

Didn't you have lethal around the 33:30 mark? Attack for 16, if they had to sac another creature to give protection from black on their turn they'd die to the wurm trigger.
@Leejen Denetsosie Gomez CGB opened a similar list in one of his last streams and the one I'm using looks similar. So you can check out his VOD. The only difference is that I'm using much more spotremoval because of the agressive BO1 Decks
You can't use Clacky B, but I've had some success with using Gyruda and Massacre Wurm in the same deck. It's pretty fun to ramp into Gyruda and then pop a MW or a Questing beast on them. Works great too against the Dream Trawler decks

An early g.g. doesn't make it someone scum. People scoop so soon when they see they've lost, they don't stick around to let you take the kill, and they certainly don't stick around to say g.g. A g.g. is nothing more than what it is. Whether you win or lose... Good game.
you could try Blazing Volley (deals 1 dmg to each creature your opponents control) instead of Massacre Wurm, If you want to go a bit more aggro, because it's cheaper and immediately puts opponent in a bad position in order to sac their on creatures or deal with 8 trample dmg.
Thing is, Massacre Wurm actually deals damage when their creatures die. Also gets pass Indestructible. Including red for only one card seems kinda, not good.

Why does saying "GG" as the game ends tilt CGB so much? I would understand if it was someone taunting an aggro player saying it before using Settle, but here? I feel like he's just saying good game without any malicious intent?
In MTG it's usually the loser that gives the GG, since the respect for the opponent should be implicit, if you win you don't need to say anything, if you lose you admit the defeat through the GG. Now... i'm telling you what i understood listening to Legenvd and Ben Stark talking a bit about this, but i know what i said doesn't really apply for CGB since he plays the evil character. ps. Also saying GG when YOU THINK you are about to win could lead to really embarassing moments. :^)

It's just weird how tilted he gets about this saying lol. It's almost like he's super self-conscious so even when someone is saying good job, he can't stand hearing it and assumes they are making fun of him.

Ive run a similar deck with gilded goose for the little bit of acceleration it needs. And if the goose gets killed, the food helps to stall.

Found that if you minus viv and then cast wurm, you pull the troll and it hits the board before the wurm.

Wow, for months I thought Espelth's Nightmare checks for CMC 2 or below and not power.
Heartless act cannot kill a vivien token as it has a counter on it.

i reached mythic with a similira deck, but i use haze and kaervek and i prefer soul shatter over thirst
