Thanks for the encouraging words! I definitely had fun doing this one and plan to try doing a few more repairs on violins and build a little more experience up.

You left out the part about putting in the sound post that's why I was waiting for five parts of your videos to see. I fished it out of the violin because it came loose and I need to put it back now

Rick, so sorry to leave out that part. I really did have some struggles getting it placed right and since I was holding up the violin and trying to light it inside so I could see what I was doing, it made it difficult if not impossible to video. A few tips if I can remember correctly... Peeking in through the button hole helped me make sure it was basically vertical. I know there are special sound post setting tools you can get, and that is probably the way to go. I was using dental-style picks and was able to "stab" the post and eventually push it around and nudge it into place. At least 20 of the initial tries resulted in it falling over and having to extract it and start over. Due to so many attempts, some of the f-hole was a little dinged up, so this is another good reason to get a sound post setter. The height of the post was a bit of trial and error as well. but it was easy to slice off thin layers to get it to the right size. I ran across a few other videos on you tube that specifically cover putting in the sound post, so maybe they can help you! Good luck getting yours back in place!!

The bass bar was intact, so I didn't think I needed to rework it. You can see it in the 3rd view of the series when I am re-assembling. Here's the link.

Let me know if you have suggestions on something I could have done differently! Thanks!!
