When bottling I set the fermenter or bottling bucket on the counter over the dishwasher and open the door no muss no fuss it works great just close the door when you’re finished and hit the rinse cycle for a couple minutes
Hi, ours came with them as well but I don't use them. They are for securing the lid to the krausen collar (which i also don't use). It just clips the 2 parts together. Cheers
I use my large Coopers fermenter for brewing 23L batches. I now want to brew 20L batches. Will that be okay in the large fermenter, or will there be too much space between the beer and the top of the fermenter that can hold 34L. Would I need to remove the Krausen Kollar? If I did so, C02 would be released because the lid isn't airtight, but would that make the vessel vulnerable to nasties?
You can buy some good '''cleaner and sanitiser in one'' products now. Allows you to essentially skip a whole step. Just make sure to rinse well. Also, you can use tap water, as long as it's not too crazy in the chorine department.
I personally wouldn't use a sanitizer that would require rinsing but if it works for you then great. And yes a lot of people use tap water I just prefer RO. Cheers!
@graintoglass sorry I meant from the end result? I had to tip my brewing container up a little to fill all bottles supplied but I noticed there was a heap of sediment at the bottom so tried not to bottle any of that
16C is a little cold but shouldn't be an issue for most yeast. 18C is great for most yeast. Keep in mind that the beer temperature in the fermenter will be higher than ambient temp once it starts fermenting. So if the room is 16C the beer will probably be 19-20C.
Can one use the glass growler type bottles (empty Grolsch green bottles) instead of the brown plastic ones in the video? Any tips or things to be aware of when making beer in glass bottles? Great vid..thanks.
Hey mate great video! Just wondering is hydrogen peroxide safe to use as a sanitiser? My neighbour has been brewing beer for 30+ years and uses it all the time. But just wanted to make sure that it was safe! Cheers
Hi, I've never used hydrogen peroxide as a sanitizer but from what I gather if used at a %3 concentration it can sanitize a clean surface with 10 minutes of contact time. Cheers
Are you able to get the fermenter cold? Around 2-5C? If you can you could add gelatin or biofine and let it sit cold for several days. Otherwise try letting the beer sit for 3-4 weeks instead of 2 to give the yeast more time to drop out. Cheers
@@graintoglass - Oh hey. Only just saw your reply now. I actually did what you said here and let the batch sit an extra week and that worked a treat. I've no idea if I can ferment the Cooper's 86 days at temps that low with the standard yeast that comes with it but giving the brew an extra week worked out well for me. Appreciated the response. Thank you.
@@redshiftdrifter glad to hear it worked. I didn't mean to ferment the beer that cold. After the beer is done fermenting if you can get the beer cold it helps get the yeast out of suspension and the beer clears more quickly. Cheers

I used this kit and bottled on day 11 with a specific gravity of 1.012. It was stable at this reading for 3 days at around 18-20 degrees. I notice in the video you said wait two weeks. Did I bottle too early? (it's only been in the bottle 3 days so I haven't tasted it yet).
Hi! I have noticed alltutorials are saying leave to ferment for 4-6 days, but you are saying two weeks. Isn't it gonna spoil if fermentation stopped in say 6-7 days? @@graintoglass
In my opinion Cooper's does not supply enough yeast in their packs for a proper healthy fermentation. If you look at yeast pitch rate calculators most will recommend around fifteen or more grams of healthy dry yeast for a 6 gallon batch of beer. It is way easier to under pitch yeast than over pitch. Cheers
@Grain to Glass Inc - Beer and Wine Making Homebrew Supplies appreciate the advise, ill be sure to use the other yeasts recommended here, my last 3 batches have turned out terrible, tangy yeasty flavour, think the temp was bad and fermented to fast. Cheers again
@Grain to Glass Inc - Beer and Wine Making Homebrew Supplies 2 weeks? Is it ok to leave it that long? All the instructions and videos i have seen say 6 to 8 days or when the gravity has stabilised, but i guess my brew is finished early due to being a tad bit warm i guess.
@@cypherdmz5562 The instructions are terrible. The beer needs time to clear and mellow out before bottling. Beer ferments quickly but it needs a bit of time before packaging. Also try to ferment 18-20C if possible.
J'ai une expérience préalable dans la fabrication de bière maison, bien que cela remonte à environ 25 ou 30 ans. Les résultats obtenus à l'époque étaient plutôt médiocres. Hello nice video! Mine came with clips for DIY collar kit. What are these for? No direction or videos show their use.
See Coopers' own video here at "Coopers DIY Beer 23L Brew Kit"; they explain the clips join the lid to the collar.
Or a quicker version at "Krausen Kollar You Tube", also made by Coopers.

I do not see any hops use in the video does it mean that those needed flavors has been fused with the malt extract?
Hello, the Coopers canned kits do not have any hops. You could always add some in if you want extra hop aroma and flavor but it is not necessary.
Yes, all corners cut. Kits are simply disgusting.

@paulgerrard9227 I havent really loved my home made beer yet. I dunno. Looking at everything, temp, yeast etc....
Hi , I bottled my stout today, and I didn't fill the bottles right to the top, as I was told by someone to leave an inch space
Yes you want about an inch of space. If you fill them to the top the beer will have trouble carbonating.

Over carbonation is a danger to look out for in glass bottles
