“The pilot of Enola Gay flying out of the shockwave…” gives me chills every time I hear it.
One of my favorite Rush songs but I say that about most of them. Great reaction. I've seen them so many times but to have seen them with an orchestra would have been amazing.
Thanks for playing my request! One thing I have always appreciated about Rush is how beautifully the depth of emotion in Geddy's voice brings out the pure poetry of Neil's lyrics, and the string ensemble here really enhances that. Another performance from this show where the string ensemble adds a dramatic flourish to Geddys vocal expression is The Wreckers off the Clockwork Angels album, which was composed in a lower key to utilize the lower end of his vocal range, producing a deeper, richer sound. This song is close to my heart, it's a great song and tells a story, but this is about a very important event in the history of state I live in, New Mexico. Los Alamos is about 70 miles from me and Alamogordo is about the same distance from me. PS...my dad once chauffeured Oppenheimer to Los Alamos when he was a young man

I wish more people would first time this very much overlooked song.

I enjoy strings in music, ELO, Roxy Music, Charlie Daniels & many other bands use them well, (I have an eclectic music background, LOL!) I think it was so great that when RUSH finally added additional musicians on stage with the terrific trio, they did it in grandiose fashion! Fantastic reaction! Neil was a magician with the sticks, hands, feet, gear, and a wizard with his lyrics! All such great musicians!

Best version of this song. The ominous drone of the engines grabs your attention.
Neil wrote the lyrics.....Alex and Ged wrote the music and that is where the collaboration began. It's just pure genius from all three of them, they always split the song credit three ways, they were the sum of all parts. Ya gotta love them!
😆 @ around 6:35 Kelly: that sound was very similar to (plug into the wall, landline) telephone ring tones in 1985. I think they knew what they were doing....
I always think of a radar ping given the subject matter!

Great song and reaction but unfortunately Geddy's voice was shot by now and he really struggled to hit the high notes.
