hey girlie ! heat spikes when curing your nails can happen & are normal because the light is hot ! obviously if you experience abnormal pain that’s different, but for the most part if you just feel a sudden uncomfortable heat on your nails you can take your hand out and let it cool for a few seconds, then reintroduce your hand under the lamp slowly to avoid that burning feeling 🫶🏻 also, if you’re planning on doing your nails often you should put sunscreen on your hands before using the lamp bc over time the uv light can damage your skin ! even if you don’t notice it now, you definitely will when you get older haha
p.s. the white pencil is used to pick up extra small gems/charms ! it’s kind of a waxy texture so it holds them really well & is usually easier to use than the little tweezers
i will definitely use spf next time!! and thank u for letting me know what the white pencil is haha I still didn’t know😅 thank u for all the tips🥹🫶🏻
I would also recommend using a sanding band or a buffer to add some 'texture' to your nail bed after cuticle prep! This gives some texture to your nail bed, which allows the gel to adhere better!
Hey, your magnetic nails came out great!
As for heat spikes, paint gel using thin layers, thick layers increases heat spikes. If your lamp has a low power setting use that if you’re curing a thick layer. Also if your nails are damaged & weak that could be a reason for heat spikes. Lastly, you can buy a non burn/heating gel that does not cause heat spikes even in thick layers. Currently, I use Jin b coolear builder gel, there’s zero heat with that. I know dvok has a non burn top coat.
thank u🥹🫶🏻 not bad for my first time haha. Ooh I’ll definitely look into those products! thank u for the suggestion💚
@ No worries! Keep practicing, before you know it you’ll be a pro at nail art.
Hey girl😇
I saw a comment that said curing the gel shouldn’t hurt… it’s actually normal for it to get so hot it hurts, for some people. If you have a thin nail bed or damaged nail bed it can hurt quite bad. I would recommend taking your hand back out, setting the lamp on first and slowly creeping your fingers back in until they’re all the way in, to prevent burning your nail plate😇
Also the tacky layer after curing gel is normal (unless you have a no-wipe product but that’s usually topcoats), you can wipe this tacky layer off once cured and it won’t affect anything. Leavingn them tacky can result in getting dust n stuff stuck on it and that’s not fun hehehe
Other than that, please be careful touching your skin with any gel product to prevent allergies and you’re good to go honestly😇
I haven’t used the jellojello peel off base myself, but for longer retention you’re usually supposed to buff the shine off your nails before dehydrator/primer as well, but maybe it’s unnecessary if you plan to peel it off later anyway heheh then not buffing makes it much much easier
Welcome to the world of self-nails 🥰
Ps. The burning can also depend on product, some products are made specifically to prevent the burning sensation like Coolear gel from… a korean brand i can’t remember i believe it’s Jin.B heheh
I’m a self-nailer turned licensed nail-tech 😇
@irachoi8944 You give really great tips, I just did my first gel set not long ago and was so worried about the tacky layer. It took me a while to search the reason behind it. But do you have tips for preventing cracking after 3 days 1 nail cracked and I'm not sure what I did wrong😅
@ that depends on what you mean by cracking, do you mean the gel polish starting to chip?😇 if so, it could be the brands of polish not going well together, i’d recommend trying a different base gel and sometimes it could be the lamp as well, not curing well, but most commonly its the base gel😇
hey🫶🏻 thank u so much for all the great tips🥹 I will definitely keep this in mind when I do my nails again! Thank u for the warm and kind welcome💅🏻✨
omg thank you for mentioning the risk of allergies - came into the comments to mention something and glad you did 🥹 didn't come across any warnings about polish on skin or not curing the product fully when i began & earned myself an allergy pretty quickly, now i can't do gel nails at home or professionally without a really nasty blistery rash developing!! luckily i can still do regular lacquer but i've heard of bad enough allergies forcing folks to be off all nail products altogether. 🫨 the final nails turned out sooo so so cute - just be sure to do extensive research going forward on using gel safely and pay close attention to the quality of gel products you purchase 😭💗
this was so fun to watch!! im currently contemplating what i should buy to start my nail journey too.

your nails came out so cuteee
thank u so much🫶🏻🫶🏻
they turned out so pretty, you're really talented! I want to do my nails for the first time too but I'm a little lost about the materials and how much does it cost :-(
@@gatitoacuatico aw thank u🥹🫶🏻 honestly it was a little overwhelming when I was trying to figure out what to buy, but with a good amount of research I think I’m starting to make a good collection! If you’re worried about cost Amazon has a lot of great starter kits that have everything you need! Of course they won’t be AMAZING quality, but you can practice and then invest later😊
Honestly you don’t even need everything she got but you will spend anywhere from $100-$200 depending on the type of nails you want, but in the end all of the supplies pay themselves off because getting nails from a salon or even an independent nail tech can range from $70-$100+ just for one set 😵💫 There are a lot of info videos on how to get started but what I’ve found most useful are videos of people doing their own nails because then you can see what they actually use regularly vs what isn’t essential
it came out soooo cuteee!!!!
thank u🥹🫶🏻🫶🏻

If the base is tacky or colour you can wipe them with alcohol
they came out so cute!! but the gel is not supposed to burn when curing, it can feel warm but it should hurt!

Hello!! ❤ New friend to your channel from southeast Kentucky and fellow crafter, UA-camr, makeup and nail goodie lover here lol..! I love getting to chat with and make new forever friends here on UA-cam and I hope we can chat sometime. I hope to get back to doing my videos once again over on my channel soon. I have been doing vids on my channel for a few years now. I sadly had to take a break from doing vids to fight stage 2 triple negative breast cancer from 2020-2022 and missed doing my vids so much but now I’m gratefully in remission for now 3yrs and pray I never see cancer again. Now that I’m starting to look and feel like myself once again I want to get back to doing my vids which are mostly hauls, unboxings or beauty and nail goodies, Plus I want to add actually doing nail vids too. I also started a new channel for different things that I love to do so much and share things I love to collect and make and I hope to do more things over that way. When I lost all my pretty hair, lashes and brows and looked so sickly I didn’t want anyone to see me so sick which is why I had to take my break from my UA-cam channel but I’m ready to get back to doing videos and hopeful to make some more new friends. Anyway I truly enjoyed your video and I can’t wait to get caught up on your other vids. I also hope to connect with you and anyone else wanting a sweet kind hearted friend from Kentucky and that we get to chat soon! I hope to see you over on my channel (this channel)soon which is my main channel and hope to see you over on my new channel I made recently for my love of dolls, dollhouses, junk journaling, arts & crafts, our pets, vintage things and just a mix of many things that me, my daughter and my mother love and enjoy doing. Sending hugs, love & channel support your way!! Love, Amanda
Here is the link to my new channel. Hope to see you there as well because you get double the channel support from me❤

As a beginner you shouldnt be using a drill at all 😂😅
Edit: for the burn, try putting your hand in the lamp *slowly* and it should hurt much less. Also, you are usually supposed to do 2 layers, the color came out a bit washed out
yes, don't use a drill as a beginner. focus on learning to do stuff without a drill first as many things can go wrong w a drill... looks like the angle you drilled at was too high and you shouldn't go back and forth as the drill only works in one direction at a time anyway
i’m still learning😊 will definitely practice without a drill! thanks for the advice! i personally liked the one layer, but it was also getting late so I stopped😅 I’ll try two layers next time!
