In this video I demonstrate square lashing, a technique of binding two sticks at a right angle. This technique can be used to construct various objects such as fences, ladders etc. Enjoy!
Thankyou. I watched three or four videos before this - here's why this one's the best. *You don't flip the sticks all around and upside down! *You use simple terms & you speak slowly *You twist the end to secure the #1 clove hitch *You show when to wind on the inside or outside *You tighten it all up with the #2 clove hitch And *You sound like Gru from Despicable Me
You gave so many ideas and varieties! So cool. I started with paracording like bracelets and Dog leashes etc. And braiding my hair in many different Styles. I Love braiding and you give me so many new ideas.
Hi Mark! Is there any special reason for not using this Square Lashing technique if the poles are not at right angles with one another? Thanks for your clear videos!
Geo Yoshinaka the Square Lashing is functional for up-and-down weight bearing and 90 degrees +|-. If you want more side-to-side rigidity or more of angle use the Diagonal Lashing.
Within the first 10 seconds of the video you refer to the vertical stick as the horizontal stick. 30 seconds later you switch it back to what it's supposed to be called. This isn't even a live demonstration. I mean you've got the benefit of being able to review and edit the content before presenting it to the audience.

So, instead of a third hitch to secure the lashing, wouldn't a stopper knot be more durable?
