- My solo unity indie game project Lumbermill has been in development for 2 years, and now seems a great time to look back at all the work done so far. This is the last 2 years of Unity indie game development in 10 minutes.

It's been 2 years since I first started work on Lumbermill development in Unity. In that time the game has gone from a small hobby project to my full time job. This devlog covers (almost) everything that has been added, changed, and removed from the game, and how the game has evolved over that time.

If you're new to the channel, welcome! I'm a full time Indie Game developer working in Unity 2D. Lumbermill is my main project - a management/factory builder game, which I began work on in Feb 2019. I aim to release devlogs on that project every few weeks, so keep an eye out for those!

Have you considered using rivers to move logs? It was common practice at one time, and could be an interesting feature. Probably it would be limited to fresh logs only, but perhaps it is faster and/or has more capacity versus other early-game modes of transportation? Maybe two core “buildings,” a drop-off point (there’s a real name for it,) and a sawmill which can be placed downstream which collects logs and mills them into lumber (probably powered by water wheel). It might be a simple and satisfying early-game or “starter” system that also encourages some interaction with the map geography.
I love the art style so much! Great work, I'm looking forward! I am also working on my own anime indie game at the moment :)

Glad to see where this project has come, i was one of the first i believe 2k-3k subs and this grew to something you are and you can be proud of, this has grown onto something bigger than just a project, this can be a hit-game if its worked into, anyways im here to congrats you on your journey wich is far from complete!
Man the game is looking real amazing now, I love the new mechanics as I think the last time I saw your devlogs was back in 2019 or early 2020. I'm super excited to play the game, and actually now that you have it happening on islands, I guess port mechanics and water log transportation/export would fit the game really well.

I've checked on this project every once in a while. Love these videos where a long time is condensed into short time. In a couple of months marks the 1 year of my biggest project so far. Hopefully I'll manage to get a following for it also.
