Mokujin *needs* to return for Tekken 8. If he's just gonna be relegated to being a custom HUD in Tekken 7, then they might as well save the wooden fellow for the next game, which better have a good amount of offline game modes and replay value.
Mokujin only wakes up when threats like Ogre/True Ogre, Jinpachi and Azazel appeared. That means the Mishimas are not a threat and a waste of his time.

Tekken 5 really was the peak of the series. Not many cheap infinite juggles (for normal folks anyways hahaha) , beautiful but not flashy, accessable but a treat of you mastered it... New Tekken is too convoluted and strays too far from the original vision.
Tekken nowadays is horrible, it feels as though the franchise just doesn't care about any characters outside of the Mishima's. Plus they have done the DLC characters dirty with how much story they have. They should take a leaf out of Mortal Kombat's book - their interactions between characters are brilliant.
