In this video I demonstrate how to create your own watermark. I do it in Photoshop but what I teach in the video is compatible with any application that supports Type and Layers. I begin by showing you where to source free fonts for both the Creative Cloud subscriber and those who are not. I demo how to install the fonts then we get down to creating the watermark. When the watermark is done, I demo how to create a brush to use in Photoshop and how to export PNG files for use in other applications. Hi Anthony -- I thought I had responded with some info about doing watermarks but maybe it was something else. However, just today I got a message related to something Scott Davenport did for Luminar but I think it was for L3 but should work the same as L4. He says it can be created in any wordpad document and save. Then using blend modes and inverts to apply as a new image layer as either black or white. Thought this might be of interest to others. ua-cam.com/video/tJv3HFY2-hQ/v-deo.html
You won't believe how doing something like this slowly helps... Thanks Anthony, this is the best watermark tutorial on UA-cam. I'll recommend this to anyone that asks.
Now if you can show us how to find the PNG in Lightroom and to apply it to exported files. I find the LR export feature for watermarks to be cumbersome.
You were changing the distance in between each of the individual letters using "V/A". If you highlight all the text and go to the "VA" pull down. This way you can set the kerning inbetween all the letters.
Yeah, I started to mention that in the video when I said the space between letters should be the same, but found out it wasn't. For this font, the distance between the letters was different and since I was hooking up the cursive, although it would have worked, it wouldn't have been exactly like I wanted it to be and since I knew I'd be adjusting the spacing of "PHOTOGRAPHY" in that manner, I bailed part way through talking about it.
20:20 Shift and delete key isn't making the fill dialog box appear i went to edit and fill but when i tried to make the words yellow the entire box became yellow
On a mac it actually "Does" work, You have to make sure whatever it is you want to fill is selected first. THEN ,hit Shift Delete. Fill option will appear. Hope this helped.
I got to the end and couldn't follow how to make it white, as said need to invert. When I go to layers box I did not have a textbox to choose from, only background. And, when I hit Command F, nothing happened. Can you share with me how to change my black text to white text?
Thanks Anthony. I may create one in AP but then again, I could simply export to AP of if I do obtain L4 which is PC equivalent to the MAC version, then use the plugin option and take the image into AP and simply use the text tool in AP. I always just sign my name in white and do try to abide by PPOC rules and not use MPA anymore.
Great video thanks. Followed all the instructions but my brush seems to be a light grey even tho the opacity is at 100%. How would I make it so it really stands out? 🙂
Hi Anthony! I'm following this but running into an issue. When going to Type --> Convert to Shape, Adobe PS says that the font that I picked could not be converted to a shape because the typer layer uses a faux bold style. Any help?? Thank you!
This was very helpful, thank you so much Anthony. Is there a chance you may do a tutorial on adding graphics along with a name? I'd like to add a flower to my watermark, for example.
This was very helpful and successful HOWEVER, how do I find the watermark to use on a different image ? it seems to have disappeared somewhere inside photoshop and I simply cannot find it to use again. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated as I am now VERY frustrated. :(
When I put the watermark brush on the image only part of the watermark shows up. I tried using Command T to expand and contract it but still only a few of the letters in the middle of the watermark showed up when I applied the brush. I made the watermark the same size that you did. I applied it to an image I reduced in pixels for posting on the internet. Was that the problem you thiink?
I did everything and it worked. But now when I return to photoshop the brush is not there. I did not export as I want to use only in photoshop But was saved as watermark in brushes but now is not there. How do I find it.
I'm reaching out to everyone I know who has some knowledge of Adobe Photoshop to ask if you can help me solve a Photoshop problem I'm having? I have several photos, 7x5, in color already printed. I want to add some white text to those photos by passing the photos thru the printer again and having a Photoshop file with just the text and a transparent background print over the existing image. I tried making a transparent text layer with my text I wanted to print and turned off the visibility of the Background layer, but nothing showed up on the printed card. Any suggestions?
I am rather new to PS. I made the brush preset, but no matter what color I set the brush to, I get the same washed out gray color, even if set to black or white? Any thoughts on how to correct this? I am using latest version of PS. This is a very helpful video.

FANTASTIC tutorial! As per usual I need to brush(no pun intended)up on my PS skills!

May I ask why you created the watermark in photoshop and not illustrator? I'm a newer graphic designer so I'm just trying to understand the processes!

Hello Anthony, i hope you are doing good. How to use the Watermarks that are made in Photoshop in Lightroom?
Great video. Easy to follow! Thank you! 😊
18:33 I've seen youtube videos on how to make it transparent other ways but you're smart as heck for that

I did everything and it worked. But now when I return to photoshop the brush is not there. I did not export as I want to use only in photoshop
But was saved as watermark in brushes but now is not there. How do I find it.
Hello, how would I add an icon? TIA ;)
Great video .. but i think the watermark and the photo must be on one layer . otherwise bad boys can remove the watermark layer .

done it today only thanks
Very informative, but I've never really understood why anyone other than someone who is selling
their photos, would want to put a watermark on them.
thank you
If there's one thing I dislike, it's watermarks in photos. I have never applied one to any of my photos.
Note: on the New Document (5:23h) that window is now exactly the same with Affinity Photo version 1.8. ua-cam.com/video/LiAv0gK7_CY/v-deo.html
