Thanks, Grego. We wanted to achieve 3 things in this video: First, showcase a battle of the titans. Second, determine how the 1.5 rules have impacted the Super Star Destroyer. Finally, the SSD is not exactly cheap, so we nee to get it to the table from time to time. :D The double arc definitely did a lot of damage to the SSD. - Ken
Congratulations! You found the second easter egg! You've just unlocked another Epic sized battle! "Epic sized battle to be filmed at a later date." :) - Ken
Yes, every time I set out to build a Starhawk I get slight variations on the same build! I did surprise an opponent once by adding High Cap Ion turbines to a Mk2.
Good game guys, onya Ken!! 😁 Taking the SSD with minimal input from the Bwings was a good effort. Some interesting interactions with Piett, Vanto, Ravager... 🤔
Good game, it really looked like the Rebels were getting slaughtered at the beginning but the double-arc starhawk block did a great job tanking and then murdering the SSD. Huzzah for Ken ! and respect for John for not flipping the table after that string of awful rolls! The gunnery teams nerf and 2 attack restriction have greatly reduced the SSD's potency, bit of a shame for such a big expensive ship...I'm going to try a Raddus build for the Starhawk (blue fish on admonition to beam in a MKI, supported by 2 GR75 and some rogues) Not sure if it'll work as well as an Agate build but at least it lets you get the SH up close and personal without getting whittled down as it slowly flies into engagement.
Thanks, Ed. A Raddus Starhawk could be an interesting build. It might be tough to fill in the rest of the roster though after you kit out the Starhawk. - Ken
You can not drop in the starhawk with Raddus. He is limited to a command value of 3 or less. The starhawk can be the launching ship. I do something like this for episode 009. -John
Gunnery Teams works differently now. You must spend a Concentrate Fire to get the second shot from the same arc, so Advanced Gunnery frees up that token. Apparently the current understanding of the card is that you still can't attack the same target twice (I think it should have been worded differently for that, but it might still be the intention) once you equip it, even with Advanced Gunnery, but not needing to dial in or comms net concentrate fires to shoot twice from the same arc is still pretty good. And... "don't shoot the same target twice" still being forbidden might really be the only reason anyone would ever take this objective against an SSD (or any ISD, Star Hawk or Ackbar, probably.)
Honestly, I think that you'd have been better off with all X-Wings for your fighter screen. You'd have chewed those bombers up a lot faster, and then got to move in to actually throw some bomber dice in on the SSD.
Ken, on the start of turn 3 why did you try and save the little flotilla rather than the pelta? or even just see what you could do with the starhawk? I understand it was speed 0 but he has three shots.... I'd have just let him have it with the amount of reds and blues hes throwing
David, I believe we talked about this after the Flotilla activation that "I goofed." If memory serves, I was thinking "I need to protect the transport" and completely overlooked the Pelta.
John can speak more to his thoughts, but if I recall correctly, he felt it better to "move" the SSD to stay were it is at forcing me to get into his firing arcs. - Ken
So angry about that "win for Ken today." Starhawk is tremendously under cost. Its only weakness is its speed two. Far too many shields, defense tokens, dice. Its nuts. It can be defeated but you basically have to build specifically for it. It should cost 190 or so. I don't think they play tested it enough before they put the price tag on it.
You can still attack all squadrons in arc. From the current RRG: "6. Declare Additional Squadron Target: If the attacker is a ship and the defender was a squadron, the attacker can declare another enemy squadron as a defender and repeat steps 2 through 6. The new defender must be inside the firing arc and at attack range of the same attacking hull zone, and the attacker must measure line of sight to it as normal. Each enemy squadron can be targeted only once per attack." There is no cap on how many squads you can attack unless you use something like LTT on the first squadron. You keep repeating step six until you run out of targets.
@@jameslane9537 ok thanks for the explanation. I personally read "another" and it doesnt say anything like "all". Why would they write another instead of "the attacker can declare all..." or "... can declare any enemy squadrons in range and arc". Sounds more to me like it is meant like that. For example if you go to a bar, you drink a beer and the barkeeper asks you if you want more and you say "another!". I dont think the barkeeper would bring you all the beer he has XD All jokes aside: so because later on they say "repeat step 2-6" that this creates the chain for another and another?
@@Belphoron "repeat steps 2-6" is the key. When you get to "6", you keep going until there is nothing to left to declare. Could they have worded it a little better? Probably.
I agree with what James is saying. The attack steps you go through each step. When you hit the bottom you can attack "another squad" so if there are more you can keep doing it. -John
@@Belphoron I'd say the "repeat step 2-6" equates to order a beer and finish it then say another, then finish it and say another. How you said it would just being saying you want 5 beers at the start. No one wants warm beer. ;)
Wow! Quite a sight to see a SSD and a Starhawk on a table! 😀
Congrats on your win, Ken, that double arc really did the trick (and your hot dice) 👍

WOW, what a thrilling batrep. Thanks for this.
Congratz Ken :) these double arcs hit pretty hard.
Thanks, pestos. The Starhawk is a beast.
53:31 wait... Republic victory! That explains it - they had a bunch of Jedi hiding on that Starhawk and using the Force to manipulate those dice!

@@IONRadio The first one was Kyrsta Agaate on the Gozantis?

Gozanti with Kyrsta was nice.
We do that sometimes to see if people are paying attention. Either that or Kyrsta is a double agent. :)

I remember the tanky build for the starhawk from an earlier episode and have used it as a starting point for my own starhawk builds with some success.
The super tanky Starhawk is a really good build. It makes it hard to run it any other way. -John

That about sums it up, doesn't it?
Well done Ken! And well played John!

Doesn't Advanced Gunnery conflict with your gunnery teams John?
Gunnery Teams works differently now. You must spend a Concentrate Fire to get the second shot from the same arc, so Advanced Gunnery frees up that token. Likely, but the original plan was to use the B-wings to hit the SSD directly. I was not expecting to come up against a few squadrons of TIE Bombers.
Is that the new comms net card? xD Love the videos keep it up!
Krysta Agate seems to pop up in weird places doesn't she?

We are using the “Targetlock” laser line from Army painter

have you considered to put your tablecam a bit higher so we can see a bit more of the battle, not just the side of the ssd :-P
