    You just gave me so much more info than I've gathered in the past WEEK of videos! And, didn't OVERLY complicate it or make it feel like total information overload...THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Also, I'm in the process of moving my craft room & am having the hardest time you could ever imagine trying to figure out exactly how to sort, separate & organize ALL of my many, many supplies. The way they've been since unpacking in our new house, has not been conducive to creativity AT ALL. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how you have things sorted and organized behind you in this video and would give my left arm for some advice and maybe a "Craft Room Organization/Tour " video! Any chance at all for that in the near future? Would appreciate it more than you'd ever know. I'm completely at the end of my sanity concerning the issue. Thanks again!

    Such useful info. When I first started I had NO idea that different ink types did different things. I bought inks that didn’t work as I expected as I had not understood or considered the ink properties. I had no idea I even needed to know. I guess it would be like starting baking and just using a product in a 5(ish) pound bag rather than understanding that flour and sugar are different. Luckily I keep trying and stumbled on the information. This is great summary.

    Thanks so much for sharing this post. I have been completely lost with my inks. I've randomly purchased inks, not really understanding their qualities. I really appreciate that you have links to videos on how to use archival and distress oxides. Looking forward to the alcohol marker comparison next week.

    Thank you for all this valuable information! There are so many ink pads available which are confusing and overwhelming. You’ve taken the mystery out of inks! Looking forward to next week’s video.

    thanks Justine, that was great, actually made notes so I can refer to them when required. Have purchased different brands of black in the past not fully understanding what I was buying or the use for them. My stazon has dried out, so after your video not really worried now and won't replace it. Prefer to have black that I can use for water colour and alcohol markers.

    I would love to see a PDF document that "recapped" all of this information so I was able to have it all in one place. As a cardmaking newbie all the different types of ink can be VERY confusing.

    Please help me understand. In chemistry, a solvent is any liquid used to dissolve something else (water is the solvent in saltwater), so technically all these inks have solvents, just different ones. When you say "solvent-based" do you mean alcohol-based? Or something else?

    Thank you for your video!! Lots of info! Wondering which ink you recommend for acetate? I do have a Stazon, but it’s old and it doesn’t seem smart to re-invest in that for only stamping on acetate. Thank you!

    This was a good primer. I try to work out the properties of inks (e.g., Memento dye inks are permanent) that will be useful for what I am doing (collage stamping). My inks are common dye, Memento dye (do not run when dry), Archival, and gouache-based pigment inks. I like how you touched on layering inked images, I think that is something that creators learn by accident. 😉

    Thanks so much for doing this video! I took notes! I bought so many Ink Pads when I first started My card making, not knowing what I was really buying it for or what to use it for. I've got soo many types and yet tend to stick to the same ones. But, I saw Someone use them for some purpose and I HAD TO GET THEM!! LOL!! Making notes and going to be watching your other videos to see what I can do with All the Other Inks I have!! Thanks so much Justine!!

    Thanks for the video! What do you recommend for stamping on photographs for scrapbooks?

    • @justinehovey
      @justinehovey  3 роки тому +1

      Archival would work best but use a stamping tool since the glossy surface will probably be difficult to stamp on with a block without it slipping

    Hi Justine! Great video ... one question: what is a "die-cut ink" or "dye-cut ink" you talk about at 4:16 in your video? Thanks for your help and blessed stamping! =)

  • @phoenixineohp

    You mentioned cleaning your stamps when you have used Stazon, but how do you clean your stamps normally? Between sprays, shammys, scrubbing pads, conditioners, I am just as lost as I was with all the inks!

    • @justinehovey
      @justinehovey  2 роки тому +2

      I literally just use water and a microfibre cloth. If they are super inky, I’ll use Brutus Monroe stamp cleaner.

    Thanks Justine, very informative. I'm in a Facebook group for Lavinia Stamps, and there are always people really confused about inks, so this is a great video to reference. Plus there's someone every day suggesting Stazon! It actually says on the Lavinia packaging not to use a solvent based ink. I would love to see an ink that works well on alcohol ink decorated Yupo, I think Archival is the best at the moment, but far from perfect. I was wondering what the new Altenew pigment inks would be like on that. I mostly use the Versafine Clair ink, as I mostly stamp silhouettes on a water based ink background. Also I wanted to ask you, I should have mentioned it in an earlier video, if you had any more requests for Nuvo Embellishment Mousse, as I've watched loads of videos, and still haven't used mine. No pressure! Thanks for all the effort you put into making wonderful videos ❤️

    • @justinehovey
      @justinehovey  4 роки тому +2

      I use nuvo embellishment mousse in some paste videos I’ve made. If you go to my channel page, click the magnifying glass and search paste, a few should come up. Archival works best. I prefer to use it because it doesn’t need to be heat set. Stazon works also but as I said I’m not much of a fan. I just have archival in black ink these days.

    Do you like the scrapbook.com ink pads? I know they are Hybrid inks. Do they work well?

      Hi there, unfortunately I don't use Simon Says Stamp inks so I'm unable to do a comparison video on them.

  • @pennyf9886
    @pennyf9886 4 роки тому

    unfortunately the hybrid inks from scrapbook.com stain my stamps. and I noticed that pigment inks can't be cleaned off some of my stamps.

    • @justinehovey
      @justinehovey  4 роки тому +2

      Stamp staining is completely normal for clear stamps. It’s the downside to them. Do use a cleaner? I find if I clean straight away with water, it does the trick for most pads. For those that don’t I use cleaner. Sometimes you get certain properties with inks others can’t do but they stain - that’s the trade off.

    Always great to be remind what ink does what, brain sometimes refuses to remember the most random things. On another note does this mean I can use crayola marker on my stamps?

    • @justinehovey
      @justinehovey  4 роки тому

      You can use things like Tombow water based markers. You can try with Crayons. The colour may not be super smooth. Because the stamp itself is a non-porous surface, it’s hard to say. But I know rubber stamps work well with some types of markers.

      Justine Hovey 🤣🤣🤣You’re brave. I’ve never given any of my Newfs a bath or groomed them. Can’t wait to see an updated photo. I enjoyed your video. I’m always mixed up when it comes to ink.

    • @justinehovey
      @justinehovey  4 роки тому +1

      We did it from Day 1. Same with grooming. Dog school really helped us with that one. We need two of us to do it, but she tolerates it. Her fur gets matted if we don't do we don't have much of a choice.

    • @chantalle7340
      @chantalle7340 4 роки тому

      Justine Hovey well that’s good that the two of you can work together to get her groomed. We’ve had up to 3 Newfs at once. Fortunately we’ve found a mobile groomer who comes to the house every month. I live in a tropical climate so we keep their coats trimmed a bit on their chests & bellies. We DO NOT shave them. We were told by a Newf breeder to never shave them. We purchased 1 Newf & I think we’ve had 8 rescues so far over the years. I wish I could post a photo of my baby who died in March from old age. I’m down to 2 rescued Newfs right now (and a Boston terrier mix). Can’t wait to see an updated photo of your sweet girl 😍
