    I don't think Dustav DeWaele (Remi) gets the credit he deserves. He was only in the film for about half and hour. Don't want to give the film away but he had a scene that I'll never forget, I don't know what he was drawing on to do the scene but he's an amazing actor!

    It’s the world judgement made them change the perspective of how they see their closeness to each other. • @galaxia4709
      @galaxia4709 22 дні тому

      @@josgroot6786 2 different things. Flemish is fundamentally different from dutch, and primarily a roman language, family with French/Walloon (course - koers (same pronunciation); appartement-appartement; confiture-confituur; arriver-arriveren). Plus the dutch lie is used as separatist propaganda, violating Belgian culture.
      French/Walloon on the other hand doesn't really matter. Both are so close and speaking French is more practical as it's a much bigger language. French isn't a threat to Belgium.
      Also apart from separatist propaganda to try and artificially create 2 different cultures, dutch is a threat to Belgian civilization and mentality of the people as it's a lower civilized language. Even Holland admits this because it is for this very reason, plus for the reason of the above mentioned Roman root, in deep contrast to their German root, that they secretly appropriated Flemish/Belgian, feeling ashamed of their cheap, narrow-minded dutch with loud, harsh sounds. They're even trying to mimic Flemish pronunciation, it's eerie and appallingly pretentious. Language would only be the beginning though since they continued to taking Belgian cultural thing after thing, like cuisine at all and Belgian meals (calling them dutch in grocery stores (sic)), buildings with belgian light and mixed colored bricks, cultural habits, the list is too long. The copying is so wide and deep, they underwent a belgian makeover when the world globalized and started watching. Meanwhile still engaging in negative and derogatory even anti-Belgium propaganda, denying Belgium's existence, in their media, not to mention their actual behavior towards and on Belgian territory.
      And so there is a world of difference between accepting flemish or walloon

    I just saw this film a few days ago. Was NOT what I thought it was going to be as I knew nothing about it's background. Beautifully written, acted by newcomers with virtually no rehearsal which brought out the natural personality of the boys. And so, so heartbreaking. Stunning portrayal of an intensely intimate friendship that most young men can relate to as teens, destroyed by labels that society never fails to inflict on innocence and purity that is so frustrating. I'm not prone to watching films that touch on the subject matter that this film implies. But after watching how the excruciating sadness unfolds in this film has changed my views regarding toxic masculinity, which I really didn't understand until now and softened my somewhat lifelong stance on what some would consider negative thoughts regarding male bonding and true friendship that I now know is real and can be just as devastating for anyone when that relationship falls apart, regardless of who they are. It was unbearable to watch the building grief and guilt young Leo endured throughout the last third of the film. Eden Dambrinne carried the weight of this entire film and deserves every accolade he can acquire. Both boys conveyed a very rare and unique ability to show genuine affection and devotion that I wished now that I could've experienced as a child. I had good friendships as a child but never anything like this, so pure and unburdened by how society thinks it should be. I'm convinced now, after never really caring that we place way too much criticism on male friendships that are obviously solid and carefree. So unnecessary when most relationships these days are so negative and dysfunctional. Doesn't matter if you're straight or gay (I'm straight) or anywhere in between. This is a must watch film that will change your attitude for the better. It changed me. The fact that absolutely no political or ideological agenda was shoved down the throats of the viewer, that the director stuck to simply telling the story of love and innocence and ultimate tragedy between two young friends was extremely refreshing. Every scene was tightly controlled with no unnecessary dialog or explanation whatsoever which did help you connect with the theme of the film and the characters. It did leave some unanswered questions. But maybe that was deliberate in the sense that it was left to the viewer to interpret what they were seeing. But regardless, anyone finding any fault with this wonderful depiction of childhood loss and grief just has no clue of how life works. Kudos to Lukas Dhont for a rare film that I'm sure alot of people can relate to.

    Ein emotionaler Film, bei dem ich ein paar mal weinen musste und mich auch ein paar Tage beschäftigt hat! Niemand hat das Recht, weil man vielleicht nicht in ihre Welt passt, eine so enge Freundschaft zu zerstören!! So eine besondere Verbindung kann es auch zwischen Jungen und nicht nur bei Mädchen geben!! Leider wird das, obwohl man meint das die Kinder oder auch Erwachsenen heute aufgeklärter sind, immer noch falsch gedeutet. Musste diese Erfahrung auch selbst machen. Unsere
    Freundschaft ist seitdem nicht mehr so wie früher Der Film wurde auf jeden Fall sehr weltnah und von zwei tollen talentierten Jungen verkörpert!
