The Canadian coins with pure .999 magnetic nickel are also fun to collect. I've been focusing on stacking them this past year. The pure nickel Canadian dollars and quarters are the best. Thanks for all the good coin info too!!
I keep all my Canada nickel. Pure nickel as compared to U.S. 25% nickel. Nickel is 13.29 per pound today 12-26-22.

I've just finished the Jefferson nickels with a few proofs after 1970. The ones that were hardest for me to find were anything after 2009. When I did find them ( if I couldn't find them while hunting) from eBay they were quite pricey. I have put together 4 sets of the silver nickels with one set being BU. Great video as always. Thanks for the info and for sharing.
Been doing Jeffs for about a decade. Time was you could, with enough effort, put together a representative set from coin roll hunting. I did it probably 8 years ago from 38 to 2004 or so from circulation. It took a lot of hunting, and I did eventually have to break down on the 50D and buy it separately. Then I went to work on just proofs from 68 onwards. This is very easy and turn up easily in dealer's bins in 2X2s for cheap up till you get around the proceeding 5 years or so, when-for some reason-dealers seem to think they are suddenly worth 10-15 times the others. I've put together a nice set of the proofs up till about 2017 or so. It's a fun set to complete.
Got a coin collection from my father last year. Jefferson nickels are my fav, not sure why. Discovered the 42d and 41 large S in the collection recently. XF quality. Pretty cool.
An AU or MS old Jefferson nickel with subtle toning is hard to beat imo.
I take advantage of Hobby Lobby 50 percent off coupons, usually only good for one item. They have coin albums so it makes a pretty good deal for me.
I got lucky on ebay a couple years ago, bought a Nickel collection in 1 1/2 × 1 1/2 flips 38 through 59 all mints including silver and 50 D. Only paid a little over $20, plus they all had mint luster although some were weaker strikes.
Now that my Lincoln set is down to finding wheat upgrades, I've been considering Jeffersons as my next set to begin. Great video.
I started collecting coins in 1958 at the age of 9. I never found either a 39d or 50d in rolls. The 42d was not very common. I did find some but not many. BU 42d were not cheap even way back. BU 50d's were $22! That is about equal to $120. In todays $. Lots of war nicks but very few 43d's. 38 d&s and 39s were around but not common. You have a very nice album of Jeff's going.
Really? That's crazy you never found them. I've only started saving and putting albums together and I've found several 39d and 50d and maybe 3 or 4 1942d . But I have good luck at my bank branch. If I go somewhere else I never find much of anything so might just be my branch
One of the 50d had FS and is Au most likely
I try to buy the uncirculated set for the year, so I can fill my other albums as well.
I got my 6yo a pair of Whitman albums (Dansco knockoffs) and a box of nickels for Christmas for us to go through together. If I were to pick a coin to collect today it would probably be Jeffersons since you can build the full set from circulation...eventually...
Your daughter's album is looking nicer than ours but as they say: there is no wrong way to collect.
Nice start to the set. As you said the 42-D is a tough coin to get in higher grades, David Bowers says that it is the hardest nickel to find rolls that were put aside for future profit. I purchased a beautiful rainbow toned MS66FS for $75 and will never let it go. I purchased the 1994 & 1997 SP nickels that are in the Thomas Jefferson coin and currency sets, do you think they will ever be slots in the vooks for these coins; I feel they are very undervalued for the mintage of 25K and 75K. Why are they still so cheap? Well good luck and you are well on your way to a premium nickel set which seems to have doubled in price in the last two years in BU. You have your finger on the pulse of the market, great video.
I put a MS-65 set 1938 thru 1964 together in 1990s; couldnt believe what it brought in 2006; putting new set together now( my LCS has 2 BU rolls of 1950-D for $280 each) tough to find locally unless there is a show or drive to Tulsa; thanks for your videos!

Question: How would someone sell that Nickle Collection? Sell it in the book? remove key or expensive coins and sell the rest? Completely empty it sell individually?

ACtually try and find a nice 1977 Jefferson nickel with full steps. According to PCGS very hard and rather undervalued.

I purchased two older Dansco nickle albums. Then a few ms 65 and 66 to use as comparison coins. Its Crazy what graders call full steps. I dont get it. Same with grading the 65 thru 67's. Sometimes I can not tell what's a 65 and whats a 67. I saw a ms 67 with missing hairline in the middle of Jefferson 's head. Reverse sometimes high grades but some of the doors or windows gone. Tough stuff. Have a 42D real full steps high grade at least ms65. Its been a blast. Started in October too

I bought the 1975 D nickel, raw, in about MS 65... Full Steps...I paid 4 dollars, 2 years ago. Now, I got a guy offering $300....I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. the Red Book value is just a few bucks in MS -65
