Markus Wulfhart's campaign made me respect Grenade outriders alot more.
Absolutely right. Get them in the right position and they do insane work real quick. On the other hand, if you forget them like I do regularly they will die to light cav.
IMO they are not very good against lizardmen's single entities
but yeah - they tear infantry to shreds
Bordermen (Marienburg State Troop) fuckin shred in a Gelt army
I found the lizards' formations to be too spread out/loose to use effectively against them.
I love outriders and grenade outriders, I always try to have at least one unit of each in my Empire armies. I've had a lot of success with keeping them just behind my line of infantry, since they can shoot over them unlike handgunners, so it's easier to set up effective formations. Plus my monkey brain like watch grenade go boom.
I don't have a huge problem with the hostility mechanic, but I think it should only be tied to the Lizardmen. There's no reason that the lizardmen should be getting mad at me for killing Skaven or Vampirates. Like, I"M HELPING YOU!.
Yeah man, im busy killing kyros and they hate me for it :D
Or you're fighting dark elves and they get extra leadership and weapon strength because the lizardmen are really mad at you, like what?
Should be tied to faction strength/number of territories, shoeing their growing concern, and also Lizardmen hostility
Thats just some filthy Hooman-logic....and not some superior Coldblooded-Logic!
That's not the problem... the problem is you're waging your own wars on their land, without their permission. Markus has killed many a lizardman, he is not to he trusted. Destroying some vampires that could easily be beaten by their own armies (in their own opinion...) is suspicious, especially if you occupy THEIR lands. Gotta remember, the lizards and the humans in this universe are equally bigoted, and each believes themselves to be superior. There are no friends, only temporary alliances.
I just started a Markus Wulfhart campaign. I've actually been having a lot of fun with him and really enjoy his snipe ability to finish off low lords! For the armies that spawn from his mechanics, it does actually warn you where they're going to spawn, just not as directly. It'll pop up on the left with the "An army will spawn in 2 turns" and if you click that, it'll zoom you over to where the army will spawn. Which, you know, isn't a LOT of leeway to prepare, but it's something! Thanks for all you do, been enjoying these a lot.
it's enough time to raise a new army in that area. With some imperial supplies and regiments of renown left that army can be quite good
Yo! That’s so much better than WH2!!!
But the constant -5 public order and enemy buffs will still be there, even when having conquered lustria and filled the bar at the top, right?
Like, it's the main reason I don't wanna touch the campaign.
Also, why... does the LEGENDARY paladin not even have a horse, or even a pegasus? Maybe it's bugged, but I find him incredibly useless because of it. I only confederated the faction so far, but haven't played it since warhammer 2.
@@Garret007 Wulfhart's paladin gets very tanky as the campaign goes on. I just put him in the center of the frontline and let him get surrounded to hold up a bunch of enemies. He was very good at it.
@@Garret007 play it on normal or hard, like suggested in this video. The penalties arent that bad.
I like that he has no mounts, I use him as a tank and that way he is a smaller target
I think Markus' campaign made more sense in the Eye of the Vortex where he was completely cut off from any other empire factions. It really made you feel like you were alone because even the High Elves didn't really like you. Probably the hardest 60 turn campaign I've ever done, but it's by far one of the most memorable.
In his eye of the vortex campaign I always end up with a alliance with ikkit claw just due to how much lizard men genociding i do.
@@sup1602 same but with the green skins haha. I can't ever justify not killing rats!
I love the aspect of the campaign that is more story driven, like you are compelled to go places to level up your party of misfits and you get those pieces of lore each time.
One of my favourite LL's/campaigns. Love the fact he gets a bunch of unique heroes that the empire doesn't normally get access to and they all have their own questlines.
I do wonder why the Britonian doesn't have a mount though.
@@NyJoanzy I suppose it's just so they can all stay next to each other in battle.
@@NyJoanzy Given he's meant as sort of a tank, you probably wouldn't want him to be on a mount anyways, as foot entities tend to take a lot less damage than cav.
I enjoyed that part of it, but it was like a weak version of the norscan hunting mechanic
I liked this one a lot more in warhammer 3 than I did in 2. The lower supply lines meant keeping extra armies around to deal with the spawning lizardmen stacks is a lot easier, and it doesn't have to slow you down nearly as much.
You do actually get warned where the children of the old ones armies come from now with a 2 turn grace period. Also I think the conditions to stop the armies is to control every part of Lustria, so there's nowhere for them to spawn.
My suggestion is to get the landmarks of legend (or immortal landmarks I think its called in WH3) mod. This adds a lot of special landmarks in the world, and lustria has some of the best in the mod, specially if you are playing human factions. It revolves around making Wulfbarks colonial expansion feel much better, as you get special landmarks that simulate new imperial cities in Lustria. For example, at his start location you can start building the Westlands Trading Company landmark. There are a lot around. Specially cool for me was the one in The Awakening, that turns the city slowly (you start with penalties in the tier 1 landmark there) into a new non pirate one.
If you pair it with immortal landmark you can get the lizardmen trading post in spectazuma which gives you sauruses very early on. Having sauruses tank the enemy for the huntsman is way better than empire melee.
I'm going to add this one to my mod list right away
Markus wulfhart is my favorite empire campaign in warhammer 3. His starting position is way easier than warhammer 2 and he got all the tools to deal with the enemies around him. I find the ideal way to play him is very thematic, slowly gaining your footing in a hostile foreign land, not expanding fast. Just recuit a huntsman general as bait and markus should have you covered with his very high ambush success chance. His imperial supply mechanic can give you some strong troops early and act as an emergency recruit pool later in the campaign. Having more friends around is also very welcome. I often make it my personal objective to keep both of the new world colonies and bordeleoux alive and well because once you deal with the blue vipers you'll have a very defensible position. His unique heroes is an okay mechanic, it can give you some advantages early because you unlock kalara very early on and just let her run around getting the other 3 can give you 4 good heroes in your army, plus they're free. Another thing with this campaign is you're not really tied down to your starting positon, you can pull out and sail somewhere else if you're tired of lustria. Like go colonize ulthuan or use the sea lane to make your East Empire Ind at Cathay. Overall a campaign with a lot of options, not too easy and not too hard at least in my opinion.
Legend, love these reviews of campaigns, really gives some good insights on which campaigns to do. You need to go back and redo your older ones.
I love these explanatory 7 minute videos. I would love to see a more thorough guide on a faction, full with mechanics, early-mid-late game strats, recommendations or possible campaign paths, etc. These are very watchable
Markus Wulfhart has my favorite skill tree in the game
One of my favorite campaigns. The Imperial supplies and Legendary Heroes give it a unique flavor. Really fun.
Watching Markus wander around the rainforest with a giganto fur coat gives me heat stroke
This is one of my favorite campaigns. There is some good role play with the 4 companions that I very much enjoy.
Hey Legend, really enjoy these short reviews. After these initial campaign reviews, do you think you'll do 'Deeper Dives' on all of the faction starts? Something like "First 5-10 Turns" from the strategic point of view, not covering all of the battles, discuss army composition, lord/hero/skill choices, building choices, etc.
Amen to this
I miss the days of Nakai starting in Lustria, and dying by turn 4.
personally I love the campaign, one of my favs even! Tho that is mainly because of the "conquest" vibe it gives off.
With the armies, as many said, it does warn you. In the very early game it is super easy to deal with, with Wulfhearts army. And in the mid campaign I usually, once it warned me, am recruiting a general, 1-2 heroes and bout 6-8 units (however much it allows me) and fill it up with supply units or RoR.
'Most of which don't belong to your races here, you got Elve, Dwarf, a Bretonnian...'
Surprisingly loreful. It is known that many races, Elves, Dwafs, Men, Skaven, Beastmen, BRETONNIANS, lived in the Known World.
Played a modded Campaign with Wulfhart where I ended up recolonising the Empire after it got sacked by vampires and chaos and I basically had to have an army sit around in Lustria to deal with the armies that showed up in the home province every 10 turns which was quite annoying.
Fancy seeing you here
@@TrueChaoSclx Whomst be thee?
@@critnoir9926 Just a fan of the crab king, I've seen you on a livestream or two xP
My favorite lizardman army summon from Markus is the Norscan lizards lol
Da hell you doin' in Norsca, cold-blood?!
In Warhammer 2, I had some fun with the campaign precisely because it was a bit trickier. It was my first imperium campaign that I completed in part 2.
Yeah. It had a sense of gaming “fulfilment” once I finished his campaign. I rarely feel that anymore until recently (I beat default ironman GA 3x25x crisis in Stellaris).
Thanks so much for posting all these campaign reviews!!
Don't worry about Lizards below you Alberic is here.
Alberic:Defeats the lizards, then declares war on Wulfhart.. 3 times in a row he did that to me and screwed me over
Needs to be a way to turn off the hostility mechanic. Either once you cap out Acclaim or just a late tech or something idk. But it doesn't make sense that after you finish with the starting area and expand out of Lustria that you'd be generating Lizardmen hostility and insurgent attacks while fighting Morathi or whatever. It makes sense in early to mid game, but not in late.
Doing a play through of this campaign with friends, playing as markus, lord croak, bretonia, and the wood elves, very memorable and a great change of pace from slogging it out in the old world.
Took out the Skaven and those bloody "reliable friends" the Brets declared war on me turn 15 just after I went to war with the Savage orcs... made for a very grindy first 40 turns.
Hell yeah, brother.
Markus Wulfharts Compain-Mechanic basically unlocking legendary Battledifficulty ^^
I like how brettonians and men of the empire are not considered the same race.
Well of course not one of them are regular humans and the others are the "French people"
what are you saying, ofcourse they arent
comparing the proud men of the empire to *french* people is almost as big of an insult as calling a dwarf short!
@Nightmare _ you'd find more in common with an ungor then any bretonian
I think it does give a 1-2 turn warning about where the max hostility army will spawn, and mine always spawned in a neighboring region I didn’t own. The problem is it often doesn’t even go to attack you. It intentionally avoids your armies if they’re somewhat strong, and since it spawns in another region, it can be difficult to chase it down. And I often ended up having an army tied up in ambush stance waiting a while for it to stumble into them. But I liked the campaign overall, the hostility mechanic made for some interesting strategy (periods of expansion followed by periods of regrouping/defending while hostility was high).
is it possible for you to redo some of your first IE campaign reviews? the first ones you did feel very short and dont go anywhere near as in-depth as you do now that you've gained some experience making these vids. Other than that, great vids as always
Last time I tried this campaign, anti-player bias had Alberic declare war on me around turn 9. Definitely need to focus the diplomatic relations tech unless you're willing to throw a huntsmen w/ spearmen stack at them to hard counter their cav and wipe them.
Yess finally was waiting for markus his review!
I liked the WH2 version in that you could beeline down to the southern corner of the map and build out from there. Safest position in the game. Feels very exposed and surrounded now.
Wulfharts campaign on Legendary is my third favorite, only behind Eltharions' and Franz's campaigns. In my experience the Lizardmen don't seem to spawn randomly anymore, they will always spawn from the south and they usually take 3+ turns to reach the Temple of Kara, that's on top of the army taking a few turns to spawn in after conquering your 5th settlement. There's plenty of time to prepare - it's not nearly as much of a pain in the ass as it was in WH2. If you want to have some real fun Wulfhart is a great candidate for a total war campaign also.
Pov_ Markus Wulfhart campaign: "HUNTSMEN GENERAL!"
Gotta love a man who wears a fur hat and cloak in a tropical freaking rain forest.
Can we see a Kemmler video? He's my favorite of the Vamps, and I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Could you please do a video on Drycha next? Thanks, I've been enjoying these.
requesting for a Belegar review, I really want to jump into his campaign and an overview of what would be the most fun way to sprint my way to eight peaks
I actually loved this campaign, it is the only one at the moment that I actually finished the long objectives and owned half of the world ! (But it only was on hard difficulty)
Good stuff - can you cover Cylostra/The Drowned or Alberic/Bordeleaux next?
Would love a Big Boy Boris Ursus video.
I found this one super punishing on vh trying to fight vampire counts who pretty much wrapped up the empire. Max level vampires were destroying me if I played a battle and their moral just didn’t break
In warhammer 2 this was the only vortex campaign I ever played, and it was awesome.
Markus's huntsmen can get crazy strong if fully upgraded with Markus's buffs, and combined with his +50% ambush chance you can just immediately melt anything before they even get close due to their high AP damage as well. It's like playing a wood elf Waywatcher ambush doomstack but with empire troops instead. I believe I got the huntsmen up over 100 missile damage for each troop with like 25 or more AP damage for each troop once, with pretty much 100% ambush chance every time for the army
Also the dwarf legendary hero has an ability that gives like +20 range and more buffs to your archers, and the wood elf legendary hero also gives super strong buffs to your archers units
I actually did everything you said before you said it.
Was fun campaign to me anyways. Got bored after duking it out with morathi though, i was strenght rank one, so wasnt hard enough to me.
Gor-Rok review when ? Or has he done it already?
The biggest problem I had was alberic declaring war while figthing the greenskins I tried to get diplomacy to make him an ally since turn 1 and in both of my campaigns he would just keep declaring war on me
The problem with starting as Bordeleux or Wulfhart, the other one keeps declaring war on me for no reason at all. I don't understand why because when they are both controlled by the AI they are best buddies
These videos are fire.
Finally, the lustrian thunderdome
I'm one of those weirdoes who really like this campaign, because it is a really good "Conqistador" campaign essentially.
And i just think thats really cool.
Haven't played anyone on that part of the map in IM (does Oxy count?), so not sure about the starting situations over there. One of the heroes requires being at war with the Vampire Mutineers, who used to be right next door in ME. Now they appear to be between Alberic and Luthor, does this cause any issues, like getting destroyed before you meet them?
Huntsman spam Will negate de 25% wep str buff so its really not a problem. You just have to adapt. Its a very good campaign .
I actually loved this campaign
i really wish they brought his quest battle back into immortal empires so people can still experience it in campaign
I love his videos so much more than his streams. Chat makes his streams unpalatable.
Started a brand new Markus Wulfhart campaign and on the first battle, I chose to battle it manually to take the fewest causalities possible. The game crashed mid load. proceeded to do this 3 more times. It's not the only battle or campaign this has happened. I've done the entire nonsense recommended troubleshooting. It's honestly completely and utterly unbelievable how many game breaking, bugs there are in this game. About 1000 hrs in TW: WH III and I don't know how many for I and II. But damn, WH III seems to have the most egregious bugs of any game I own. There are games that have serious bugs, don't get me wrong. But never have I had the same level of game crashing bugs of the exact same type persist this long into a game before. The devs always fixed the serious, game crashing repeatedly type of bugs as a priority for other games. (In my experience)
And it's not just my hardware, I've tried three different rigs. It's the game. And I've tried community bug fix mods; they're the closest to actually fixing it I've ever seen, it will reduce the sheer volume of occurrences for sure but still I get crashes and most prominently from the battles loading/unit routing to setup logic crash error.
it is your hardware
Did they fix the missions? I love markus but early in IE I played them and realized I cant do some of the missions because the mechanics have changed. Like I cant search ruins for treasure, which you need for Dawn, the bow for elf lady
funny, i played alberict recently and markus was at my throat immediately.
If you love The Empire units and theme, but got too bored of fighting Chaos and Undead, this is the way to go.
You know, I like when The Children of the Old Ones spawn, then never leave encamp, allowing me to keep being hostile to people, and they never spawn again.
I'd love to see a Boris Ursus run though
In the lore he has dog, they should have included it. It's a pretty big part of his character.
Arkhan the black next ?
Thanks for the video
I would like to see Belegar Ironhammer next.
Is treacherous trait for liche priest not working? I tried to do a tomb scorpion focused army I had a lord with treacherous trait same goes for 4 more liche priest with same trait but it doesn't seem to give my tomb scorps extra MA/MD.
You get a 2 turn warning where the army will spawn so I just saved my RoR units for that and that army would easily beat anything the lizards could spawn, then you just disband all the RoR until the next time an army is coming.
Handgunners and spears are all you need with a garrison. Save your rors.
Make at least 10 handgunner buildings then you can global recruit in 1 turn. Easy to beat the spawning army with like 6 handgunners and a bunch of simple spears.
I am not a 100% sure but I think they changed the generic Lizardmen army to spawn outside your territory.
It does actually give you a few turn warning and it also shows you exactly where the army will spawn in wh3 idk if you didnt notice or whatever. Its still a shitty mechanic but its pretty easy to deal with since you have like 2-3 turns and know where it spawns.
I always wonder if the heroes from a confederated markus got their full potential unlocked or not
Did they fix the legendary heroes quests yet? At release they required searching ruins which is not a thing in tww3.
Does the hostility mechanic happen anywhere? Even if you leave and say go to another part of the map.
I wonder if there are any campaigns at all in warhammer 3 that are more difficult than their warhammer 2 counterpart
Markus... Wulfhart!
Good video, typically speaking... ;)
When I play nakai, my main sidequest is to wipe out the empire from lustria
Legend please if you hold on a ability please hold for more than 1 second so we (or i) dont have to rewind, Thanks!
So have they fixed the damage bug with war wagons from wh2 yet?
Why does nobody ever talk about how Wulfhart and his unique heroes are basically the Wish version of the Ubersreik Five?
We already have the vermintide crew though they are stuck at an inn. But yes here they are again
Man late game that hostility gets so insane that your 5 armies can go from nothing to another 20 stack just in one turn fighting throughout Lustria. Kinda annoying but manageable usually.
Hey so i bought this dlc for wh2 but i couldn't enjoy playing due to my game's audio going crazy stuttering and stuff. I talked to the developers of the game and best they can do is a temporary fix. Now their solution worked for a couple of hours but started happening again. So i ended up asking for a refund. Too bad i really liked to play wulfhart but the dlc's just causing me trouble.
Rakarth next maybe?
The petition you got trough, will it also be for Mortal Empires in Warhammer 2?
Why would it be? Use a little common sense, WH2 has no more development to it.
Hell yeah
Majorkill sent me here!
Markus Wolfhart
You know what would have been REALLY cool and relatively easy to implement for Wulfric's army?
Fortifications, in his trailer we see a war wagon baiting the lizard army into a fortified army with the archers up on battlements safe from the melee.
In previous total war titles we actually fought in a small fortified camp map when getting attacked in encampment stance.
Would be awesome if we got something similar for Wulfric in encampment and ambush stance. Some mods in tw2 managed to impement it and it would make fighting primarily melee focused armies with a ranged focused army in a jungle a lot less painful.
This guy got wiped early in my Franz campaign. Any way to resurrect him?
lol
i found this campaing one of the easiest i did other then the likes of imrik... the army dispatched made it quite fun especially when you got a 2 steam tanks for free
I cant comment as i have only ever played about 10 turns of him in wh2. I prefer wiping him out with Gor Rok.
What got me while playing his campaign was how insistent he was on constantly saying his name like a pokemon, that got old real fast
Like every single legendary lord in this game.
Como amo esa campaña
Those heros can really be a hit or miss for me they either are great at what they do or derp out and get killed
Proposal to re-work the hostility mechanic:
Firstly, make it so that hostility only ever goes up when winning battles against Lizardmen, or taking settlements in Lustria. Secondly, when a retaliation army spawns, make it spawn in the same province as Markus himself. Thirdly, make it possible for Markus to reduce hostility by engaging in diplomacy with Lizardmen, allowing for him to do a full 180 on his normal play style.
I haven't been able to play the game this patch. Until they fix the mod limit bug I won't be playing.
