1985 J Rowe Memorial Gold Cup - Alexandra Park, Auckland: Tussle

Top trotting mare Tussle stepped away nicely and was then given a great trip by Peter Jones. Runner-up and favourite Dragon's Pride made a mess of the start but put in a great performance and looked to have it won in the shadows of the post. Captain Carthew came from a long way back at the top of the straight to run on strongly for 3rd.
