Ceteris Paribus

Why do economists use the term "ceteris paribus," and what does it mean? This video uses a simple example to explain.
Please note -- I have heard several different pronunciations. Wikipedia and Merriam-Webster (www.merriam-we...) pronounce it as "Setaris paribus". Investopedia (www.investoped..., dictionary.com (www.dictionary..., or a simple google search pronounce it as "Kataris paribus".
