I'm 5 mins in and I can tell you that you are crazy to employ your brother as the architect. He's a piece of work. You are going to have nothing but problems with him and it's so evident from the moment he opens his mouth.
Found this show on Netflix but I was able to breeze through all the available episodes quite quickly.. very thankful I found these earlier episodes here on UA-cam... I’m quite surprised at how young Kevin was on these earlier videos... I didn’t think the series have been running for that long (since 1998 or so?)...
After seeing these first few episodes it’s kind of amazing to realize that the series kept going. 20 years later! But they have now grown a little wiser and usually don’t wind up airing an episode until the build is finished.
As much as I dislike the architect, I have to say that SO FAR, I like what the house looks as though it's going to be. I'm really curious to find the rest of it online and see the finished package. Someone said they saw it! (So it DOES get finished!!!!). I also have to say that I like the attitude of the 'Clients' and the free reign they believe in giving to the Architect; not being constantly on top of him and not being too worried about how long it takes. I LOVE what the husband says: "What's 6 weeks in an entire lifetime?" That is EXACTLY the right attitude to have. When you rush things, mistakes are made.
Honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing (and neither could Kevin haha)... "It's easy to get units mixed up on a tape measure..." No wonder he doesn't 'get along' with the professional associations! He's one of those people who just breeze through life oblivious though...
Obviously they didn’t care about how this house will fit in its surroundings and the “architect” couldn’t care less about the outcome ... I would like to know if and how they finished that house
you are all wrong. you are negative people . you don't know the value of a architectural design. I think you are old fashion. If you see the final outcome you will be amazed.
Your man's line of argumentation for the white render was the most unpersuasive I've heard. "It's lark the owld clitch-ay, ya do-oont judge a book bah its cuvva. Except ya do judge an house by how it looks". Well then it's bloody nothing like the old cliché ya spanner! 😂
More like a Grand Disaster. The owner refusing to come clean on the real cost highlights they lost control through the build process. It is almost like the producers have forced the host to say nice things about the outcome of this design.
Having seen the finished house I think it is one of my favourites. A truly outstanding design that is so advanced that it would fit in anywhere at all and will still look great in 100 years and more. It just amazes me that the Doncaster planning department couldn’t see how amazing it would look!…..or does it?

So frustrating how hard it is to find complete episodes. This show has run 19 seasons or more. I found some on Netflix some on iTunes. But nowhere to just buy them all and watch them.
Oh I have seen the outcome of this home... I personally loved it. I love the whole facade. Very different look... and besides the hardship everyone went through, (owners and builders), I think it turned out beautiful. One of my favs in external appearance.
Glass treads on the staircase? Slippery, not to mention dangerous. Tempered glass shatters rather easily if you hit the edge just the wrong way. This place reminds me of Flanders And Swann being "ever so contemporary at Number 7a". So much so they live at Number 7b in the house next door.
I'm glad that we live in south africa, they cannot tell us what colour paint etc that we have to use on our house. Maybe if you live in an estate then they have control over you as you have to keep the look the same.
AMAZES me when l see stuff like this from England, so many times l see english people buy stuff elsewhere in Europe yet they left the EU, why? when they can't make so many things at home

What's this fake architect saying my clients and my buildings when he's already said this was the first actual building he's done. He's clearly living in some fantasy where he's actually good at what he does.
They have over-capitalized horrendously by building this house where they have. Even if he tries to sell it as a "unique office building" one day, he's going to lose money.
5 mins in, when we meet the 'architect', it's fairly evident in that first moment. His entire attitude is NOT one of working well with others. He is so UNprofessional and it is immediately apparent. Is his sister amnesiac? Surely there's a lifetime of evidence?
Kevin describes it as a "lozenge" but it's actually a gigantic coffin. Appalling! For once, the council planners were correct - as was the young builder who said something more in keeping with the surroundings would have been more appropriate
I was so hoping to enjoy this series, but after glancing at the various designs I realize that all they're doing is fucking up the beautiful British landscape.
I’m 27 minutes into this thing and I can’t stand that “architect”!!! I think the proper term for him is “wanker” - (Wanker: An arrogant or pretentious person). You can add supercilious to that. And the owner/builder is not far behind. I feel very sorry for the workmen who have to put up with the vacillations of this ineffective pair of friends. I know that all these episodes always end with the house finally being finished, but I hesitate to think of what is going to be left in the path of this (probably) cautionary tale. Well, lover of punishment that I am, I’ll resume watching (much as one watches a horrible accident). 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
It's as if they have a 'live in the office' fetish. Imagine building a home with "ghastly" bricks. doing dreadful things like increasing the lifespan of a building to over 100 years, when that lovely concrete and glass will probably mean a maximum 60 years life span.
also makes me wonder why they need to be more precise when its not square, they have to be just as precise when its square or it does't fit then either
Twenty years on I'll bet they never finished it and live somewhere else since the kids are adults now and who even knows if both parents are still alive.
