- This is a custom shrinker stretcher stand I made from scrap I had in the garage! I need the shrinker stretcher for some projects coming up and it is NOT easy using the handle with it clamped it a vice. So like anyone, I went to UA-cam for some ideas! If you have built or building a similar project, and have any questions, suggestions or such, shoot me a message in the comments.
This channel may have a lot of random stuff, since I started it just to learn video editing and such.

I got mine mounted to a workbench with a foot pedal down below pulling a cable. Super simple solution for me because I didn't have all that scrap metal on hand to make a stand.
As long as it works, that's the only thing that matters!
Looks really good, thanks
Thanks Graham! I’ll going to make a more detailed 2.0 version sometime soon. I bought an extra body so I wouldn’t have to switch out the jaws anymore.
Nice build. I built a dual setup so I can have one for stretching and the other for shrinking without changing parts. And I actually build the second stretcher/shrinker head as well. People can't tell which is factory and which is the home made head. Nice to have them when you really need to work metal... Thumbs Up!
Thank you! I’ve thought of picking up or making another body, then redoing the stand. I have a bunch of projects, but not enough time to do them!
I think it looks every bit as good as something you would buy off the shelf. Give yourself some credit!
Thanks Eric! I could make some revisions, but it works great! I just leave it alone for now.
Of course it's free when you got Home Depot in your garage! 😀👍
I’m just lucky I save all my extras from previous projects!
i would have lowered the pedal. measure the shrinker arm total throw, mount the pedal so that when jaws are making contact, pedal is about 1 inch above floor. never let the jaws touch each other, keep a piece of thick 3/32" cardboard between when not using. kids are attracted to pedals.
One of my buddies mentioned not letting the jaws touch. Cardboard would be perfect, Thanks!
Beautiful job!! I have made one as well many years ago. But i have learn a few tricks from yours! So i will be modifying my very soon! Im very impressed with your work! Thank you so much! Good job!
Thanks Jaison! Btw I saw some of the type of bearings I used at Tractor Supply Company, I think they were just $3 each.
Thanks a ton, friend! Just finished building a stand very similar to what you've shown us... watched your video like 10 times Just to catch all the details and help keep me on course. Really appreciate you; i've subscribed.
Glad I could help Travis! I really love hearing that I actually helped someone out by sharing my Ideas! I really wasn't planning on doing much with this channel other than home movies! But I like learning new things, hence the filming and editing parts of me in the garage. I plan on more videos in the near future, and I hope to get better at it!
Good work man! Can't believe you only have 170 subs, counting me. Good audio, steady video, great content.
Thanks Mick! It’s comment like this that got me thinking I should do a lot more for the channel. I got a few ideas before I start working on my street rod and featuring it a little. Thanks again!
Oh yeah, I’m going to try and up the quality of the videos as well!
Great job!
Thank you!
Fantastic mate, Have the same Shrin/ Strech, and was wondering best way to pull this off. Thanks from Adelaide...Awesome.
Glad you liked it! I have a few more tools I want to mod, then I'm going to get started on my 1940 Ford. Just trying to learn and get better at this filming and editing thing. Making vids is kind of fun!
Very very nice
Thank you CB! It has been working great.
Nice job!
Thank you Guillermo! hope to get some other tools fixed up soon.
Hi there, i just made mine s/s stand yesterday. it was supose to work like yours, but it didnt. i have to step it really hard to make it bite as it should. Now that i saw your video im thinkinking im gonna change the location of the spring and maybe get a longer one (like yours). The spring i have on its short and after just a few minutes testing it, it almost doubled its size. live and learn i guess. hahahaha Really liked the video and the project itself. Great job!!!! susbscribing now and im gonna check out the rest of your videos. keep em comming!!!!!
Cheers from Brazil!!!
Cunha
Thanks Cunha! I wanted a shorter spring but I had that one! Mine has been working great! I need to make some more vids soon, but it’s been about 10 degrees Fahrenheit outside lately. I need to put heat in the garage! Good luck with your project, keep me posted!
Hi Bruno, me again! I’m going to try and make a 2.0 version of my shrinker stretcher. I’ll try and get all the dimensions this time.
Nice work
Thanks Kevin!
cool project, I think I'm going to make the same thing....
You should! Let me know how it turns out.
@@HoopsHotRods I will, I'm up to my neck in other stuff right now but I certainly will let you know
nice job
Thanks John!
Pretty awesome to build out of all scraps! I just picked up a set of shrinker stretchers and will be building a stand similar to this soon.
Thank you! Would love to see how yours turns out! Going to check out your channel, looks like you have a fun build going on. We have a big VW show in Pataskala Ohio each year around the first week in August.
I made a foot operated out of a old Total gym excersize machine world better than any I've seen sold
Cool! I have an old treadmill I might turn into something later!
@@HoopsHotRods l use treadmill motors on lathes and drill presss gives speed control and much tork
eu preciso de um Shrinker Stretcher desses , Brasil é Dificil
Espero que voce encontre um. Eles são muito uteis.
Show videos of the metal work you did for the car how is that for a comment
The wife and kids have been telling me that a lot lately! going to show some projects on her hopefully soon.
What gauge is all the metal?
I think it was around 10 Guage. it was in the scap pile and most of it was 1/8" thick. Kind of heavy though. I picked up another body for the stretcher jaws, so I'm going to do a 2.0 version of the first stand. I probably use 14 gauge on it. I hope that helps. Good luck!
BTW the top,(where the shrinker body bolts on) is 1/4" thick
