A devestating fire has destroyed the new orangutan habitat at Chester Zoo, and keepers are concerned about the impacts on these highly intelligent, emotional animals.
The Bornean orangutan is a species of orangutan endemic to the island of Borneo. Together with the Sumatran orangutan and Tapanuli orangutan, it belongs to the only genus of great apes native to Asia.
From The Secret Life of the Zoo: This series gives viewers behind the scenes access to Chester Zoo's 21,000 animals and the people who work there. Would like to see the rehabilitation of other species since the fire this is why there should always be things in place to help stop a fire even if the staff aren’t in ie sprinklers
These people are wonderful ! I’m sure they could do great work with children who have suffered some form of trauma.

Orangutans are very intelligent. Those are my favorite ape. They call them the people in the forest. Or the people of the forest.

You’re a sad, sad little man…
You people can't prove they have complex human emotions and thought. I know you love to think you can make them human but at the end of the day you can't. I'm sure your fundraising would go through the roof. You call them a family yet they live solitary? That makes no sense
Also they don't have a language anyone can stand to listen to. I suffer with real life trauma and it's getting a bit insulting the way you people throw that word around. I'm so sick of you smaking that label on all of these apes
Lastly, the last thing these apes need to be doing is having more of their useless kind! They are losing their habitats and you want that 7 yr old ape to think about having more? Absolutely disgusting. Final thing just because you give these things human names that dosent make them human and most certainly doesn't put them on my level in the pecking order. They are only cute for about a year then they are absolutely hideous, and at best will only have the intelligence of a 3yr old human at best. What a huge waste of resources goes into these creatures who are oh so traumatized, give me a damn break.
