I’d love to see a video update of little Orangutan baby peanut when he gets bigger. That little guy must be the cutest animal on the internet.

I believe he has been released in the wild in 2017. The video of him baby is actually quite old, despite the fact that it has been uploaded recently. Here is an article talking further of his release: www.orangutan-appeal.org.uk/about-us/news/article/a-big-step-for-peanut

Years ago, one of the soft release orangutans was attacked by dogs. He found his way back to the sanctuary to get his wounds treated and stayed until he was healthy. His friend (who came looking for him a few days after he returned to the sanctuary) and he went back out into the jungle when he was all healed up. They know where the sanctuary is and that they can get help there at any time.

To: Stephen Brand - It would be interesting to know if any data has been collated on such incidents.
Due to their physical similar stature, I suspect we might have a tendency to over-project our concerns.
I am reminded of how large birds can speedily approach and instantaneously alight on what seem to be the flimsiest of branches without any mishap, error of judgement, or prior inspection. Nature has indeed provided many animals with uncanny instinctual abilities to survive in their own environment.
