The version I watched started with Floop retelling Juni’s story (as a Thumbthumb) and breaks the 4th wall on when to put on 3D glasses as he and the audience prepare to watch the film.
Same here as well! Played it on my PS2 console so many times as a kid! It was the first video game console I've ever owned! Those were wonderful times!
I don't think I ever thought of the Spy Kids films as cheesy when I was younger. It just seemed just right back when I was a kid like the places that looked too elaborate but back then I thought it made sense - they're supposed to be cool and stuff. I really liked the ending with them calling everyone together cause that was nice. Too bad the I couldn't see your reactions to the scene where Juni's online buddies found out what he really is irl cause that's another scene I enjoyed XD. I didn't get to watch this movie in 3D as we didn't have a dvd like that (and also 3D glasses don't work for me at all orz). If this was how you guys reacted to Spy Kids, I wonder what you'd think of Shark Boy and Lava Girl (made by the same people who made the SK movies). That one's more.... over the top, I guess? The concept of the movie was created by the movie creator's kids so it has more of a kid's imagination.
Ricardo Montalban was actually in a wheel chair IRL and told Robert Rodriguez that he'd appear in the movie if he'd get his legs and stand up again and through movie magic Rodriguez came through with his promise 🙂
I died laughing when i saw Elijah in this movie. I was like "oh crap it's frodo baggins, and he's tall now." Lol XD Also, Elijah is a big gamer fan so it makes sense that he's in this.
He was also in an earlier Robert Rodriguez’s movie called “The Faculty “ & if you have not seen that movie yet, you might want to check it out at some point.
I remember enjoying this movie back in the day as a kid. Looking back at it as an adult, while it definitely aged questionably with the usage of the CGI and the 3D effect, it certainly brings out some inner video game vibes for those that are big gamers. So I'll say that it's a guilty pleasure, even though the movie has some nostalgia from my childhood.
Love this reaction, so many big names:George Clooney, Sylvester Stallone, Salma Hayek, Elijah Wood... love everyone in third sequel. Thank you so much.
Fun Fact: This wasn't originally going to be a Spy Kids film. Robert Rodriguez initially didn't want to do a 3rd movie. He instead had come up with an idea for a science fiction movie about a group of kids going inside a video game, getting stuck in the video game, and it being in 3-D. However, he realized that setting up the characters and the world of that film was gonna be a nightmare. So he decided to instead make it the 3rd Spy Kids film as he figured that concept would've fit perfectly in the Spy Kids world
This and Sharkboy and Lavagirl are pretty much the only two good 3d movies ever released. The old bicolour 3d glasses made your head and eyes hurt like crazy, so it was hard sit for 90+ mins with them on. The modern glasses just can't do good looking 3d and makes everything way darker. I think the last 3d movie I watched was Avatar, and majorly regretted it since all the super colourful scenes became bland, and 3d wasn't anything spectacular. I had much better experience rewatching it at home in 2d.
Why would Juni left spying to be a detective? He was with his sister and they formed a good team. Why suddenly wanting to work alone and NEVER contact his parents or Carmen? His decision is a bit selfish! I get that Juni desire more freedom and independance but not speaking to your family is cruel 🤨Even Romero the scientist and his uncle Machete, he doesn't call them or send them emails. That's not nice! This game sounds fun! A giant arena with robots, a weird race with vehicules full of gadgets, a lava lake. Thoses stuff would be cool in a video game! In a movie, it would go well in a fantasy land.
Spy Kids 3 is definitely another favorite of mine I love the movies and the franchise I should say I had a ralph toy and some spy kids toys as a kid and just watching this is all coming back to me (pun intended) its a great good feel franchise to go back to.
this movie is just so dope, back in the day it was so hype, in the era when 3D was in its diapers this was like Avatar for that day and age xD I remember going into it with the good old paper glasses and it was such a unique experience, nowadays its normal to see 3D but damn this used to be special :D perfect movie for a child, as an adult it gets less amazing but its still fun :P
Fun Fact: Robert Rodriguez would actually sometimes purposely choose to work with a smaller budget because he thinks the limits help him make more creative production choices
Honestly most of this movie is prime guilty pleasure. It's not good by most movie conventions. The one thing I will argue that is genuinely good is the moment with grandpa and Juni before they leave the game. It's a beautiful moment with both characters and it gives grandpa a moment of genuine confidence and love from Juni. Even if he's disabled, he's no less of a hero to Juni.
Man this movie was my favorite back then, I remember liking the 3-D glasses that comes with it, they even use the 3-D glasses on the McDonald's toys too.
Amazing how Juni’s actor went from having a short scene with Selena Gomez in this movie to starring in two episodes on her show “Wizards of Waverly Place”
I watched this all the time when I was a kid, without the glasses because 3d glasses made my eyes feel weird and stuff. but i love this film. How the hell did I not recongise elijah wood?! But I am glad that you had watched this one! Can't wait for your next list of movies and shows tomorrow! Have a great night/day!
I owned a PC game of this! The only things I remember were the stick fighting where you could ooze out a shield, and trying to lava surf. The game came with a pair of 3d glasses that I immediately lost, which somehow didn't make the game unenjoyable for me? I definitely recall more of a "series of mini games" style play than a story-driven one.
Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with the actors who chose to be involved in this series, but Spy Kids was the first kids movie with Hispanic protagonists, in a time where the basically only other character who fit the bill was Speedy Gonzalez (who, while being a fine role model, was presented as the exception to the lazy, unlikable rule). The fact that the movie didn't just cast Hispanic characters, but made their heritage important to the movie (the best example I can think of is when Carmen's full name is the password to the safehouse, but people who know more about the subject can correct or elaborate) made it kind of a big deal, in a positive way.
Lucky enough to see this in theaters and it was awesome! Although I remember the intro to this being different. I personally love the effects. Cheesy? Yes, but it’s definitely a product of it’s time and it works well. Spy Kids was such a great franchise for us kids and those of us who grew up with this are very lucky.
Back then being a kid i only remember seeing it only halfway through the story....of a boy in a yellow suit, other fellow allies/opponents...and the racing with one wheeled futuristic vehicles. It didn't use to air on tv that often & then use to wonder how cool it felt. Somehow it still is....theres a childish charm in this trilogy that is lovable.
@@TimotheeReacts No problem. I know that the 4th Spy Kids film bombed severely in the box office. But maybe you can watch it after you watch Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D plus Shorts (2009).

Lol I watched Lord of the Rings for the first time with a friend a bit back and yelled 'THAT'S THE GUY' when the main character came on screen and my friend just looked at me
I really wish that people still made 3D movies like this. Not necessarily the red and blue colors, but the way the images actually jumped out at you. I remember being a kid in theaters and actually trying to reach out to touch the screen in front of me. 3D movies now are only used to add more depth to scenery. I remember seeing the 8th Harry Potter movie in 3D and being really disappointed because they could have made the characters' spells actually come out of the screen and things like that, but they didn't do any of it.
As a kid, seeing this in the movie theatre when it first came out, with the 3D effects which were incredibly new at the time, was just beyond cool and exciting! It's goofiness and cheese just makes it that much more charmingly nostalgic for me
I love this franchise and this is THE TRUE EMBODIMENT OF NOSTALGIA AND I LOVE IT and I just love the actor who plays grandpa his voice is so just it's just amazing like him and uncle iroh Would be friends lol
26:05 I Like How Before That Clip, Carmen Immediately Pushed Juni Behind Her And Pointed Her Clawed Hand At Rez And Protected Her Little Brother From Getting Zeroed Out, That’s What I Expect, A Big Sister Protecting Her Little Brother
also no lie I regularly listen to the main song for this movie, "Game Over", as titled after the movie, at least a few times every year because it unironically slaps even almost 20 years later.
I like how they just had fun with this and compared to the 4th one, they did not have a video game pun every 3 seconds, but still embracing what was fun about video games. Subjectively, this was always my favorite because of how fun it was, but objectively, the story was the best in the first one.

I watched it when it came out in 2003, and at least in Italy, 3D stuff was just for theme parks (like “Honey I shrunk the kids” at Disneyland Paris, but you had to go to Paris) so SK3D was like a unique Disneyland-ish experience for me as a child. 3D blew up few years later
Now that we've nearly finished the Spy Kids quartet, I have to know, are you thinking of doing Glass Onion: Knives out 2 when it's released? Not for some time I know since the trailer was just released, but I want to know if you're thinking about reacting to it. And if yes, then what other murder mystery movies are you thinking of? Thinking of seeing Kenneth Branagh's 'Death On The Nile' - lots of changes ie some rewriting of characters, merging two characters with one but the main storyline is the same and it's not like earlier Agatha Christie adaptations haven't made similar changes ie the 70s movie of Death on the Nile starring Peter Ustinov.
Another movie that you guys should watch is Speed Racer from 2008. A movie with some big names on the cast too, a lot of CGI, some cringe acting and some laughs like this movie as well.

Yes! I remember that
As a kid I really liked the character Floop and I was always wondering if there’s a Floop’s Fooglies as a show in real life. Wish that there was
That was the 3D home and theater version as well I think
I actually remember having this movie on DVD with 3D glasses. It’s just amazed me when I was a kid.

Ricardo Montalban nearly brought me to tears with literally 30 seconds of dialog in a spy kids movie. What a legend.

Dvd of Spy kids 3 had video games and I won at race
You guys keep saying "Cheesy" but to kid me this was everything
Seen it so much back then
My favorite movie from the franchise
Watch Sharkboy and Lavagirl now. And wear 3D glasses next time. It makes these movies much more crazy to watch

Not gonna lie, the main character Juni's hero suit design is pretty cool
Good reaction! If you’ve seen this before, you should really edit the description
The ultimate guilty pleasure movie.

I saw this in Theater-WOW!
Another movie that you guys should watch is Speed Racer from 2008. A movie with some big names on the cast too, a lot of CGI, some cringe acting and some laughs like this movie as well.
