This was a really insightful. Thank you. I live in the Netherlands in Europe, and unfortunately it seems like the doctors here have never heard of this. I've been suffering for years: the lump in my throat, constant clearing until my throat hurts, dry cough at night, constant burping, a chronic runny nose. I sing, not as a professional but as a hobby I get singing lessons, but my voice quickly gets hoarse. (I also have asthma, but that could be an entirely different thing.) My GP just prescribed a PPI (omeprazole), she even laughed at me when I once asked if it's possible I could have low stomach acid, and then suggested that the medicine might not work in this case. She made it sound like I was making it up, saying that she's never heard of a low stomach acid, and that that is not even possible. Finally after my insisting a lot I got a referral to see an ENT at the hospital. All they did was look down my throat, a small tube that went thru my nose. She concluded she could see my throat was scarred by acid reflux. And prescribed me more omeprazole (PPI). When I told the doctor I'd been taking it for months but it doesn't do anything for me, she just said then we'll double the dosage. So for another while I tried the double dosage but as before it did absolutely nothing for me. So I decided to stop taking it and search online for my own solution to the problem. I've really found your videos very helpful, I've been on the reflux diet for 2 years now. I've got it "under control" now, but it's by far cured. Every now and then I get a flare up.

Very well done. It's amazing how little most ENT and GI docs know about LPR. My concern with alginates is the sodium content although I use on occasion. Thank you and God bless you for removing my persistent bad breth from stomach when taking & Gerd/Acid reflux symptoms completely when I came across Dr.Ohanon✊✊
I am in the process of trying to get to the root cause of my GERD that came on recently after years of a slow slugging digestion and a lot of stress. It seems to keep going to my throat. I completely lost my voice recently which terrified me and had flu symptoms too, I mistook this as asthma that I (think I have), then had what I thought was an asthma attack and call for paramedics. They said my lungs were clear and no one could figure this out. I also have a high fever with this sometimes. 4 weeks on since this has arrived in my system and it comes and goes so I never know if I'm better or not. I'm about to try a Naturapath after being given antibiotics, steroid and omerorazole by big pharma Docs. None of which will in my opinion help heal me safely. But I now wonder if this is GERD, post nasal drip, LPR, all of them? and did i ever even have asthma, or misdiagnosed. Hopefully all will be revealed soon.
You do not have asthma. You have hypoclohydria (low stomach acid) which causes LPR and RPR respitory reflux. I got healed from all symptoms in 2 months of takings HCl betaine
Most doctors see reflux damage, give you PPI and say avoid alcohol, coffee, etc. making you feel like there is know way of knowing or treating any root cause. This is a more comprehensive explanation than any paid dr visit. I’m a professional singer so any reflux is immediately noticeable in my voice which affects my ability to do my job to my best. Very frustrating. I’m now on a mission to read books and try diet and other solutions to fix the root cause and not the symptoms that come back as soon as you get off the ppi. I used to think it was normal to have hoarseness in the morning and thought excess phlegm was allergies. Now that I’ve done some research it all seems to come down to LPR and diet. Excited at the prospect of getting it hanlded or possibly even “cured” with vigilant diet management. If I have to eat twigs and water for the rest of my life but know that would cure it, it would be well worth it.
Hi! I have similar symptoms, hoarseness and throat clearing in the morning, but I also just had full blown laryngitis caused by nothing else but LPR! It was horrible and lasted 3 weeks, more than ever when due to a cold. Have you figured out a solution? How helpful is the diet? I am changing how I eat too, but I am still in diagnostic stages so too early for any noticeable healing.
@@annalimon8633 I read this book by Norman Robillard a.co/d/baIQLu7 and it was the most throughout with hypothesis and explanations as to root causes. The hypothesis is that certain bacteria to feed off maldigested or undigested complex carbs causing excessive gas which creates pressure that pushes open the LES resulting in pepsin’s going up into areas they shouldn’t. The diet eliminates or lowers these specific types of carbs. Well worth reading. There is also the popular Acid Watcher Diet book which I also read. This seems to focus more on a diet they treats the symptoms of acidic foods that activate the pepsin already in esophagus and other areas. I think both have their merits and do result in lessening of symptoms. Since Robillard’s diet addresses the root cause and not just symptoms I’m focusing on that but also being aware of avoiding acidic foods in the AWD as well. Also everyone is a bit different so after you get symptoms under control then you have to figure out which foods specifically aggregate it or not. Some foods that trigger some don’t trigger others and vice versa. But I’d suggest reading both those books and diets.
I'm about to try slippery elm. It heals the throat and esophagus and gut. From the acid. I hope it works. I'm also treating candida which was in the mouth throat. esophagus.
@@feyisayoakinlose9581I have been using slippery elm daily for around a year in hopes of healing the lining of the digestive tract. I keep it on hand and buy it by the pound from Amazon because I have a tendency a couple of times a year to have diverticulitis attacks. So each day I have a small scoop in with a few other powders in water every morning and sometimes I manage to take it twice a day. I began using a lot of things to hopefully heal my gut. I feel like it is working because so far I have not had another attack in a year.
I use it to soothe the digestive tract by adding a scoop in a large green drink every day along with licorice. I was suffering from several attacks of diverticulitis each year. Seems to be working.
This was very good. Interesting discussion about stress. My LPR first flared up during three separate stressful events - changing jobs and lockdowns. I have some periods of relative control but can spin off into a vicious cycle again and go back to square one.
Hi Molly, my name is John, I live in Canada and there is no ENT who deals with LPR and is really knowledgeable. I was wondering if you could guide me in any way. I'm willing to come to the U S provided I see someone who knows LPR inside out and who knows about amitriptyline if needed
After gallbladder surgery in 2021 June since then I don't know what happening in my body after 2 years of everyday throat tightness, throat pain, lump feeling in throat, I now discovered it as silent reflux or LPR I have gone to gi everything comes normal in march 2023 but my LPR still there ..
I was diagnosed lpr. But i forget to tell my doctor that i also have burning sensation in my upper abdomen region. Did my doctor missed diagnosed me or heartburn is also common to lpr not just gerd??
I've been to so many doctors to stop this chronic cough. My alergist just mentioned it could be reflux. I live in Chicago. I may need to see this doc if she takes my insurance. I NEED HELP. My body hurts from the years of coughing. It makes for a very solitary life because everyone is scared to be around me.
I had the chronic cough too. Start doing a high PH diet (avoid acidic foods, fats, fried and spicy food, etc), use alkaline water (just a couple of sips) and spray with bicarbonate soda and alkaline water through your nose and throat. There are videos on UA-cam for all of this, you’ll be much better I promise.
I have two questions. I have twice been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia by two different doctors. They both said that it was “Tiny”. And that there is nothing to do about it. What is your opinion on this idea of it being tiny and that mean it’s not causing my acid reflux? I also have sleep apnea and I’m working on that but I know that can affect it as well. It’s a struggle not to take a PPI so occasionally I take Pepcid but I hate taking it. Also, I have something I have never heard mentioned and that is when I wear a bra as a woman it hurts my stomach more but I have bought millions of bras and have bought the softest and the best I can find and it still is bothersome. What is one to do? I cannot go out in public without it because it looks very unprofessional and not good especially as you get older. So these are my two questions.
Hi Molly i live in Canada and there are no doctors who are well knowledge in lpr but great in prescribing ppis . After watching this video how can u help me find out if i need amitriptyline because my symptoms are breathing in ,burning tounge, burning throat and nose.
I have stumbled upon this content, I can’t help but wonder if this is an answer to my Afib heart rhythms episodes that I have been living with and treating with “pill in the pocket” . In the past the afib has been triggered by brain freezes from drinking or eating cold items (cold water, ice cream, slushees etc). After speaking with multiple cardiologists they are always stumped since there aren’t structural issues and I am still in my 20s with a good diet. I do sometimes get a little heart skip feeling or random raise in heart rate when I do have an unhealthy meal. Great content and going to do more research into this topic. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much I’m trying to reach you I can’t I have question about reflux gourmet it anti acid because I don’t want to take any anti acid and if you have idea if free from gluten and dairy ?
great video. would like clarification though on something you said. You mention triggers can be coffee, caffeine, etc... so it more coffee in general or caffeine? what about decaf coffee? thanks for clarifying.
Coffee is a reflux trigger due to its acidity, caffeine content, and ability to stimulate gastric acid production, all of which can irritate the esophagus and relax the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), allowing acid to flow back up. Decaf coffee, while containing less caffeine, can still be a trigger for some because it retains some acidity and can also stimulate stomach acid production. However, decaf is generally better tolerated than regular coffee for those with acid reflux.

Is this good?? Is there something I should ask him?? Please help me I'm sad and miserable, the cough as got me low, always clearing my throat and sometimes spit up clear phlegm. Thank u xo
Hi Molly,I have a hiatial hernia and hyperparathyroidism, high calcium in the blood.I get lpr each time I eat with like a gaseous sensation which affects my breathing.I am only eating, sweet potato, brussel sprouts and water biscuits as well as ensure but these set it off.Can you please advise me on what I can eat so that I can get enough calories and nutrients without affecting the lpr? Try turmeric tea as follows: two cardamoms, a small cinnamon stick about an inch Crush these and boil in water for about 2 to 3 minutes. Then add a pinch ( a quarter tea spoonful) of ground turmeric and boil for another minute. Add sugar and milk to taste. This drink is very easy to make and may heal the gut and the esophagus. It tastes good too.
Great video and awesome recommendations. It took 2 months to get in to see a an ENT for a persistent sore throat and he literally looked down my throat for about 10 seconds and said you have reflux, here’s a script for a PPI😡 Needless to say, I was very unhappy with him so I resorted to UA-cam for other alternatives and that’s how I found you. I tried an Enzymedica product with alginic acid and within 2 days, my throat feels better. My voice is still raspy but it seems to be improving. Thank you so much
@@jocelynalfante3524 I have found a better product from the company Life Extension, they are amazing. The product name is Esophageal Guardian. One more suggestion, I have had good success with very small doses of Gaviscon throughout the day, maybe 1/4 tsp, 4 or 5 times per day. I let it coat my tongue and slowly work its way down my throat in hopes that most of it stays within my throat area and so far, it is helping. Best of luck, I know it is very uncomfortable and typical ENT docs seem to be clueless, sadly

I am so desperate to at this point. I have had this for only 4 weeks now but it has been absolutely horrible. I can't eat anything other than oats and water. I am afraid this will kill me, because I can't eat anymore. I also can't move anymore because this makes my throat hurt even more.

I have a question. I was just diagnosed with LPR and am implementing lifestyle and food strategies. My reflux mostly happens at night but I wake up feeling fine. My issue with it is when I sneeze, a bunch of mucous runs down my throat and won’t stop til the next day. I told my ENT and he wasn’t too helpful. I’m also going through allergy shots and take daily allergy meds so we know it’s not that. The mucous running down my throat is so annoying and makes it hard to talk, swallow or really focus on anything but that. I would appreciate any insights.

Thank you and God bless you for removing my persistent bad breth from stomach when taking & Gerd/Acid reflux symptoms completely when I came across Dr.Ohanon✊✊
Thank you for this share. Do you ever talk about Barrett's esophagus?
Thanks...Any Updated Results for you ...can share with the community here ?
Did you maybe have laringospasm? It has to do with LPR..
You do not have asthma. You have hypoclohydria (low stomach acid) which causes LPR and RPR respitory reflux. I got healed from all symptoms in 2 months of takings HCl betaine
@@jonssu0000 hi Jonsu... may i know what was your symptoms?
Great discussion and thank you for sharing! Very helpful
I'm about to try slippery elm. It heals the throat and esophagus and gut. From the acid. I hope it works. I'm also treating candida which was in the mouth throat. esophagus.
How is slippery elm used
@@feyisayoakinlose9581I have been using slippery elm daily for around a year in hopes of healing the lining of the digestive tract.

I was diagnosed lpr. But i forget to tell my doctor that i also have burning sensation in my upper abdomen region. Did my doctor missed diagnosed me or heartburn is also common to lpr not just gerd??

Thanks for covering this topic 👍
@@Tokyobusiness2010 Thank you kindly for all the advice. I definitely want relief.

Thank you so much. This was very helpful.
This was very informative. Thank you
So glad to hear that! You are welcome!

Hi Molly i live in Canada and there are no doctors who are well knowledge in lpr but great in prescribing ppis . After watching this video how can u help me find out if i need amitriptyline because my symptoms are breathing in ,burning tounge, burning throat and nose.
PPIs are no joke. Turns off your intrinsic factor. Be careful using those.
Young doctors seem to know better like you too
great video. would like clarification though on something you said.
However, decaf is generally better tolerated than regular coffee for those with acid reflux.
so informative thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Very clear and helpful

Anyone cure from LPR ? Please share the info 🥺
Literally caused just by low stomach acid. Cure: HCl betaine for 2-3 months.

Simple answer, if you don't feel any burning just take HCl betaine 1500-2500mg / day for 2-3 months.
Nothing helps guys I've been going through this for 10 years just give up. Just deal with it.
