Very cool. I just bought one that was covered in dust at an antique store of all places. Gave them $50 for it, I don't think I got hurt on that one. So far my impressions are that it has a lot of really good useful sounds, and think I'm going to be using it a lot. The one thing that I wish it did have that it doesn't is a line out.
@FGPosse If you read the manual, you can take alot of advantage of that tube, by putting the poweroutput on the back low, and turning the volume and mastervolume up. That gives you a real tube. Also you can replace the tube to your liking ofcourse.
I jam my vox VT30 with a friend that has a Fender 4x10 all tube 60w deville - his is on Volume3 to 4 mines in on a 6 to 7 the little 30w Vox holds it's own. I love mine! Had it for about 5 months. Guitar Center has a $50 rebate now! (november 09) I was debating over getting the 50 watt, but I am VERY happy with the 30 watt. Great for small gigs, garage, and practice. Whispers with the volume control on back yet allows for full effects as if the voulme was pumped up.
No problem. The amp is terrific, and for the price unbeatable imo. It is very versatile, and the simulations are very nice. I bought it to be used as an easy pickup to go amp, but it has become my main amp now.
It has taken me some time to put this together...ENJOY! VOX VT owners will love this info... New VT30 series amp models/songs/bands Green A-1: BOUTIQUE CL Dumble Overdrive (Clean) Message in a Bottle The Police A-2: DELUXE TWEED Fender Tweed Deluxe Sultans of Swing Dire Straits
that's what I have too. Can't beat the old ones with the vintage vibe and then you turn it on and...Woah, it sounds like THAT??? haha I love playing metal shows with mine it just looks so friggin' cool.
@1012Baseball suprisingly yes. the amp distortion is heavy but also very warm because of the tube. if ur looking for an old school thrash sound (metallica, testament etc.) than you will be pleasantly surprised. played it today at guitarcenter and was taken completely off guard. my first amp was a shitty line 6 spider III 15 watt, now i have a marshall MG30, looks like its either gonna be this or a 333xl combo, but probably this vox in the 50 watt or 100 watt 2x12
I totally agree with you about solid state amps (even this one) being unable to emulate a true tube amp sound. However, having just received this amp last week and having ample time to mess around with it, I can say without a doubt that it is by no means a bad amp. If you want tube sound, buy an all tube amp and get some stomp boxes for effects. If you're on a budget and want a tube emulating amp with great overall sound, the vox vt30 is a solid choice. Let the music speak and keep jamming!
I was looking for a practice amp at Guitar Center. I played Line 6, Peavey, & Fender and was completely unimpressed. Found this one on the back shelf, played 5 minutes, and I was done. Tone is much "fuller" like the sound of the needle dropping on vinyl b4 the music starts. Very reminiscent of the analog days. Liked the VT30 so well I bought a VT15.
i play a squier strat and a dean ml through mine and yeah this thing creates some feedback for sure on either guitar. I have had this amp for about 3 years now and I can't say I'm thrilled with it. I feel that you have to have the gain cranked to get any kind of response out of the amp and that leaves you flicking between amp models for different sounds. but to answer your question yes this thing feeds back regardless of guitar I think.
Depends on the size of the venue. It can definitely keep up with a drumset. I have a marshall 100w amp that I've always used for band practice but recently (last saturday) I gave my vt30 a shot during practice and it was more then loud enough to play with a drum set. I didn't even have to crank the volume much. I was shocked. I honestly didn't think this little vt30 with its 10 inch speaker would be able to keep up with our high energy drummer and my other guitarist, but it did great. That said. If you're playing a bigger venue you will probably want to mic up the amp so the people in the back can hear clearly. And depending on what what setting you use the clean channel is a great pedal platform. I use the ac15 channel and it sounds great.
Hi Owen. Nice video & great playing. But you're getting confused in several areas. 1.Valve-reactor circuitry is unchanged -12AX7 is still effectively used in the power-amp section only. 2.There's no modeling in the power-amp section. 3. All modeling is in the pre-amp section & is 100% digital. 4.All new amp models derive from the Black Diamond prototype, not TLLE. 5. Revised EQ and modified poweramp design account for enhanced feel & punch. Hope this is helpful. Rich (Valvetronix forum)
@moronicus1 exactly the same here, I tried much more expensive models, but still kept coming back to this one, I bought it a month ago (vt30) and am still impressed by it.
@gkicosev Definitely! My friend got one of these, and it was easily loud enough for a local convention center holding about 500 people in the audience.
Yeah and on the VOX amp, I'm not sure if you can just have a straight clean channel. On the Fender you start out clean and you can add your effects as opposed to just effects on more effects.
Is this review in focus... out of focus... in focus... out of focus... etc., or am I having a stroke? Nice review thank you. Gonna get one for near my bed as the 120 watt I have there now is a bit much.
@krollaostmedburger cables wont effect your palm muting sound too much i would think but i would be a good idea to get new ones coz its pretty annoying havin shitty cables
I bought my Vox Valvetronix VT30 in 2008 and I think this problem has been around with it since. Some of the amp models on the amp have more hiss then some of the other amp models on the amp but I hear it when I play a string. I test how much hiss each amp model has by palm muting the lowest string and playing it. I have the noise reduction set so there is the least amount of noise or no noise at all. The amp is quieter but again I hear the hiss when I palm mute a string and play it. And I understand the more gain there is the more noise or hiss you're going to have but some of the heavier gain amp models have less hiss than others. And even some low gain and cleaner amp models have a little bit of hiss when played. I tested both my les paul and Stratocaster and the amount of hiss on each amp model is the same with both guitars. I like the heavier amp models because I'm a metal fan and I am trying to record a power metal album. So I want the amp to be as "clean" as possible while still having the heavy distortion (if that makes sense to you). If you could tell me every way you know how get rid of the hiss that would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.
Hi dramsig. Thanks for your reply. I am still experimenting with my VOX amp. I wonder why i cant play acoustic guitar with my VOX VT 100 ?? . My acoustic guitar has a preamp with battery , has an output. Still experimenting as no sound coming from the amp. Thanks dramsig for your reply. If you find any new ideas, do share it with me to help me out. Thanks....
@krollaostmedburger do you have a strat style guitar with single coil pickups? if you do thats probably your problem. single coils tend to be not as good for metal and crunchy palm muting. you need something with humbuckers for good distorted sounds.
Does this sound good "boosting" it with a pedal. I don't get all of the electronics/tube power in this thing, so I want to know if my overdrive will be useless.
Then it's likely it's the guitar's cable, if it doesn't work, you might want to try another amp to check if the problem persists, if it does, then you should take your guitar to a luthier, because it could be a problem with the pickup wirings.
@skate4live11 ,i'd say get a line 6 if you have a good effects pedal, the amp sounds okay clean but the distortion sucks, my digitech RP355 gives it a screaming distorion amazing cleans and a nice crunchy overdrive, if you dont have a effects pedal i'd recommend getting the vox VT15 but if you have money to spend i highly recommend getting the line 6 and a effects pedal, together they just sound amazing, just dont get a MG, they suck bad
So hears what im wondering, how would say a tube screamer peadal or some other overdrive pedal work with this, im told that you should use overdrive with tube amps and distortion with solid state, soo what could i do in this situation, PLEASE HELP!
how does this amp compare to the Roland Cube 30x? Which would be better for metal? And does this amp work well with pedals (wah pedal)? I have heard many modeling amps are bad with pedals.
@RandomGuitarist96 Yeah they fucks up alot. They stop working in a middle of a song. But there's so much shit I have to buy now. But I'm going to buy new ones soon
Very cool. I just bought one that was covered in dust at an antique store of all places. Gave them $50 for it, I don't think I got hurt on that one. auto zoom is killing my eyes watching it on my 4k tv makes my head want to explode. sounds great though.
I jam my vox VT30 with a friend that has a Fender 4x10 all tube 60w deville - his is on Volume3 to 4 mines in on a 6 to 7 the little 30w Vox holds it's own. I love mine! Had it for about 5 months. I have this amp. It is AMAZING.
I can't thank you enough!!!!
I knew it was beatles and i browsed my beatles folder so many times hoping to find the title...and no good till now!
thanks for this,im considering this amp for bedroom playing and this is the first good demo.
sold ;)
I've been trying to decide between a vypyr, a spider 3 and this but this little fella sounds so much more real
It has taken me some time to put this together...ENJOY! VOX VT owners will love this info...
New VT30 series amp models/songs/bands
Green
A-1: BOUTIQUE CL Dumble Overdrive (Clean)
Message in a Bottle The Police
A-2: DELUXE TWEED Fender Tweed Deluxe
Sultans of Swing Dire Straits
I just bought line 6 spider 3 30 watt and it is amazing.. Best amp for its money...
I have owned both this, and the vyper, and the viper can bow down to this thing, this has a REAL TUBE to get REAL TUBE tone.
same i was deciding between this and a line 6 spider 3, but this sounded way better than the spider 3 when i tried them both out.
I just bought this amp and it kicks ass!
Its the VT50, and yes, it has exacly the same sounds and presets as the VT 30, and a few extra features too
that's what I have too. Can't beat the old ones with the vintage vibe and then you turn it on and...Woah, it sounds like THAT??? haha I love playing metal shows with mine it just looks so friggin' cool.
@1012Baseball yea definitely. line 6 is very processed and digital. the vox seems warmer because of the tube.

12ax7 is not a pentode. It's a double triode. That's why it can be split into two sections, one for preamp one for power amp.
I own this amp and its really just as amazing as it sounds.
I was looking for a practice amp at Guitar Center. I played Line 6, Peavey, & Fender and was completely unimpressed. Found this one on the back shelf, played 5 minutes, and I was done. An you gig with this. Does it get loud.does it have a super clean setting allowing pedals?
Depends on the size of the venue. It can definitely keep up with a drumset. gosh why did they have to come out with this after the ad30, this sounds soo much better then my ad30

@Sledkid15 use the enter sandman preset or use one of the US/UK models and cut back on mids, crank treble and bass.
ya im debating between these 2 too
i have this exact amp. is loud. its cool. lots of sounds to have fun with. and its really loud.
@moronicus1 exactly the same here, I tried much more expensive models, but still kept coming back to this one, I bought it a month ago (vt30) and am still impressed by it.
@highcoffclife12
No, its a modeling amp. It uses Solidstate electronics to replicate (model) a tube amp tone.
Thanks guys!
@rocknrollbce depends. but normally it's loud enough, if you turn the watts knob up like 3/4 and the master on 3/4 too.
@Tengent line 6 spyder 3 and 4 75 watt and aboves have them stock
@gkicosev Definitely! My friend got one of these, and it was easily loud enough for a local convention center holding about 500 people in the audience.
Yeah and on the VOX amp, I'm not sure if you can just have a straight clean channel.
On the Fender you start out clean and you can add your effects as opposed to just effects on more effects.
@Esmael8 tnx. i found that out like 2 mintues after
i think i'm gonna buy this one
@Zubirrex This is a tube amp but You don't need a pedal right well i mean it has a 12AX7 preamp tube.
@cronnin
Nope, it's not that, he was in preset mode.
Try something similar like Cali metal plus a bit of an echo?
this amp sounds really good with my 7string, for real!
@leondinsdale1 It has a phaser and pitch effect, so maybe your confused, but I have it right in front of me, and it does not have a auto-wah.
Do pedals work well in this amp?
@jdonproductions I just got one for christmas and I love it :D
ofcourse it is. i've been playing alot of sum 41 with this amp, along with weezer, and blink 182.
good demo but is it honestly thart hard to get the camera in focus? i feel like im gonna hurl!
Okay so its great thx! I'll buy this amp
Those little amps have a lot of balls.
is this amp better than the peavey vypyr? and wow i love his guitar!!!!!
@johnboy2296
I think is "Every breath you take" by The Police
If anyone is wondering, this is on a different league to any Marshall MG. Don't even ask which is better, this is. I know, I've had both.
Is this review in focus... out of focus... in focus... out of focus... etc., or am I having a stroke? Nice review thank you.
Gonna get one for near my bed as the 120 watt I have there now is a bit much.
@RealRocker100 Since it has a tube in it,it needs to warm up,so yes,it is normal. That is why you get a sweet sound when it warms up :)
im getting this for christmas, hopefully. is it really great, like everyone says?
Is this ok for live gigs?
i got it 4 180 quid! it was a steal !
@krollaostmedburger
cables wont effect your palm muting sound too much i would think but i would be a good idea to get new ones coz its pretty annoying havin shitty cables
I bought my Vox Valvetronix VT30 in 2008 and I think this problem has been around with it since. SharkTooth57 I know this is late but did you try using a noise gate?
Thanks....
I wanted to watch this video, but I think I have to schedule an eye exam!!!
Great amps but they eats picks! They easily slip through the top.
There's a 2009 dime rattling around in mine!
Is there really need to get the Vox Tonelab ST if you have this amp?
How is this amp compared to the Fender Super Champ XD?
greeting.. is it a tube amp or solid state amp?? im confused
@krollaostmedburger
do you have a strat style guitar with single coil pickups? if you do thats probably your problem. single coils tend to be not as good for metal and crunchy palm muting. you need something with humbuckers for good distorted sounds.
@MrWadestar trust me this is way better than the spider actually sounds real.
@TUNERMINION The AD30 is better than the VT30 in anyway? I know the AD30 is hybrid, it is supposed to sound better than the VT right?
That is because he is Screech. You didn't know he works for Gearwire now???
Considering 50w version. Will it loud enough against a drum kit?
I m gonna buy that too ! :D
Can effects pedals be used on the clean channel of this amp?
whats is the song at the beggining?
if you compare this amp to a line 6 spider 4 and the marshall mg30. would the Vox be better?
Does this sound good "boosting" it with a pedal. I don't get all of the electronics/tube power in this thing, so I want to know if my overdrive will be useless.
When switching amp/cab models my VT30 gets temporarily extremely loud until I adjust the volume or master volume, even slightly. Is this normal?
whats the song he played at the starting of the video?
Can this thing do small gigs?
Cheers!
whats the difference betwwen vt 15 and vt30 is it just higher sound?
Oh, god. This is 99999999 times better than both of those amps.
is the valvetronix the same as the vt30?
Is this amp is good with a loud drummer? I mean if I put the volume at max or I need the VT50?
did my best to make finally a good sounding clean guitar sound for vst's. its to find under WarmAmp IR. The best: its donationware
Then it's likely it's the guitar's cable, if it doesn't work, you might want to try another amp to check if the problem persists, if it does, then you should take your guitar to a luthier, because it could be a problem with the pickup wirings.

so its a hybrid.. Would it make sense if i compare it to the vox night train all tube amp? are these two amp sound different entirely??
does this amp pick up pinch harmonics on the lower strings well?
and im definitely getting this amp
@luvz2sploogeify so would you recommed this amp over a line 6?
So are the valvetronix series actually tube amps or not?
what is that guitar?? The sound of that amp. is like a tube amp?
Damn camera, FOCUS!!
Can you put the out power level over 9000?
what is the name of the first song you played?
i just got this amp
@krollaostmedburger do you own this amp?
is this better than a Peavey Vypyr 30?
whats that song in the beggining he plays?!!
So hears what im wondering, how would say a tube screamer peadal or some other overdrive pedal work with this, im told that you should use overdrive with tube amps and distortion with solid state, soo what could i do in this situation, PLEASE HELP!
