How is 2 gigs of ram holding up? From what I've read it could be a bit laggy sometimes. I don't think it'll matter much for using Android auto?

Yes all the Eonon VW specific units work with Fender. If you go to the unit website page and go down to the "features" section you will see it works with Fender and Dyno systems 👍
Hi dave, i have the VWA12 headunit from last year. Is there any way to update to android13 without buying a whole new headunit?
The budget unit VWA12 can't be upgraded to android 13 as it doesn't have FOTA updates. The only unit that can receive FOTA is the VWA12S6G...more powerful unit. I don't rate the budget units as only 2g+32g....A12S is 6g+64g
Hi Dave, have you tried re assigning the steering wheel controls with this headunit? I tried it with no luck. I click on the begin learn button and press the buttons on my steering wheel but it doesnt seem to do anything. I just want to change forward track and back track since its reversed.
I only ran the VWA13 for testing purposes and the video.
I have the VWA12S6G installed as my main unit.
I didn't look into customisation of steering controls on the VWA13.
Have you joined the Eonon Facebook community group and asked on there?
Hi mate, any way to disable the start up sound on the VWA13? Its so jarring every time I turn it on 😅
Unfortunately not on the VWA13, you also can't disable the reverse camera if you don't have one fitted. VWA12S6G you can disable and customise boot logo and turn off reverse camera.
How does the sound compare to thw vwa12s? Is it pretty similar? I've still not got round to buying one yet (for money reasons) so this might be a better option!
Sound is good after playing with the EQ to get it to my liking 👍

Hi Dave, fitted a VWA13 and whilst setting up it has literally flattened my battery, any ideas what could be causing this, thanks in advance.
Guess you only had ignition on and not engine running....that's what caused your battery to go flat.

@larrylamb2017 yeah basically....if you have any car radio on with ignition off it will drain the battery....you are not the first and won't be the last to ask this same question
Does it have a Satnav that works without connecting it to a mobile? Like I don't have unlimited data and I wouldn't want to connect my phone to use Satnav all the time, or if I've run out of data still be able to use the nav.
If using android auto/carplay then it uses your phones GPS....if you want to run Google maps on the unit itself you need a hot-spot connect....very little data is used when using navigation

The VWA12S6G has received the android13 update via over the air update. The VWA12S6G is delivered with android12, once you connect to WiFi you are prompted to update. If you are looking to purchase an Eonon VW unit I would highly recommend the VWA12S6G over the VWA13. The VWA12S6G is 6g+64g, the the VWA13 is only 2g+32g meaning it very slow and laggy compared to the VWA12S6G.

Hey Dave. Thanks for your contributions here re Eonon. I just bought the VWA13 and really like it. It actually works well! Cant say that about the 2 others I had to return for various reasons. I am wondering if you have trouble getting 3rd party launchers to work well in this device? If so, which ones work? I;ve tried Vivid and Agama and both gave me problems and caused me to have to reset a bunch of things. Since I use the VWA13 mostly with wireless Android Auto it isnt a huge deal, but I;d like to find a nicer car launcher for this thing. I find the Eonon menu tree to be really confusing and limiting. If you;ve tried a few other launchers that may merit a video since I couldnt find anything specific. Any help appreciated. Ed

@@whatsdavedone104 Thanks for getting back to me. I;ve determined that Android Auto just doesnt play well (for me) with the built in Android 13. I;ve decided to use AA almost exclusively and just use the head unit to play music from the usb via PowerAmp and for the obd2 and that gives me fits at times too.
@edom4080 maybe a factory reset of the unit will sort any gremlins 🤷♂️ mine runs smoothly with no issues

If you have a factory fitted reverse camera then yes you need A0580 canbus adapter availbe from Eonon website

@tomp.8129 I would recommend the VWA12S6G over the VWA13....the A12S6G is a far quicker unit as it has 6g of ram and 64g of memory and on the 4th March all A12S6G units will be getting android13 via an over the air update...the VWA13 is only 2g+32g. Yes there is quite a price difference but in my opinion you would be happier with the high end unit over the budget unit.

@tomp.8129 what decisions are to be made....pay a little more with 2 years warranty and support and being happier with your purchase or get the VWA13 and possibly wish you had of spent a little more 🤷♂️ the VWA13 is only currently available on ebay so you only get 1 year warranty....purchase the VWA12S6G from Eonon website and you get 2 years
hi dave, just installed vwa13 in my 2011 scirocco - does it also work with factory built in dynaudio soundsystem … radio works but i have no sound .. canot hear nothing … any thoughts ☺️🙏🏼 appreciate help

Hey Dave, I'm thinking of getting one for a Seat Leon (2012) (my fiancees) but not sure what the best option is right now. i see they have the VWA12S-6G, VWA12 and VWA13 that should be fitting. Would you be able to give any advice? im thinking of including a dashcamera and maybe DAB+.
The VWA12S6G is the best unit. VWA12 & VWA13 are budget units, not as powerful and quick as the A12S. The budget units are only 2g+32g so a bit slow and laggy.
VWA12S6G is 6g+64g so 3 times more responsive with no lag. Dash cam I prefer the A100 over the R0020 as it's small and more compact.
DAB is a better choice over FM as you get more choice of station with crystal clear sound quality

Hey Dave, Sorry to bother you one more time, i'm just wondering (sorry i am very new to changing stuff in cars) would i still be able to use existing usb ports in the car? or can i only use the supplied cables that come with the head unit? I wouldnt be sure where i would put the lose usb ports so using the build in one would be nice imo. thank you!
@Edje151184 the factory USB port can't be used with aftermarket headunits...I have installed USB fast chargers in my car as the ones on headunit only supply 0.5amps so no good for charging phone....see this video

Hi Dave, how are you? The vwa13 video looks great. In my opinion, it's always a worthy substitute for the vwq53pro. I wanted to ask you for advice on the installation of the vwa12s-6g. In the connection diagram, do I need to connect 22 AUX input L to 12 Audio Input L and 23 Aux input R to 14 Audio input R, just like in the q53pro installation by following the manuals? Could you help me with this? Thanks a lot in advance.
No you don't, they are pre outs for a sub....they didn't need connecting on the Q53pro either 🤷♂️ don't know where you got that instruction from
the doubt came to me while assembling and looking at the diagram in the manual from the Eonon website for the q53pro on page 4. I compared it with the one for the vwa12s6g on the last page
@elegantpc I see your confusion....the OUTs are going to AMP then INs are connected...without the amp they do nothing when connected as on amp to power them 👍

Hey I have the va12 and for some reason my canbus features and my backup camera only works in the f-cam app not when when in reverse it is an aftermarket camera so I can see it works but not properly when in reverse Any ideas on fixing those two things would be greatly appreciated btw the car is 2012 gti
Double check everything is plugged in correctly, is it turning on and off with ignition?
@@whatsdavedone104 yes no issues there just got the sim data plan for it as well so most everything else works as it should subwoofer also just doesn’t read any car info
If you go to "car info" then "my car" app can you access the canbus settings....
What specific command did you setup in bixby to turn on the wifi hotspot when bluetooth connects to the car?
Modes and routine app....IF "Bluetooth device" connects to Eonon Then "mobile hotspot" on

I just installed the VWA13 two days ago, and all good, yesterday i signed into my UA-cam account and it told me (for some reason) I needed to setup a lock screen, so i did, set a pin. last night i went to use the car, and the lock screen comes up, and it wouldn't accept my pin (it had earlier). Long story short, today i have entered the pin so many times i now need to wait 30 seconds between each entry. I pressed the RST button, it rebooted the device, the clock is now wrong, but still on the lockscreen and the pin isnt working. help!
Unfortunately I have no experience of lock screen, didn't even know it was an option....you will have to contact eonon for help on this. Are you a member of the Eonon Facebook group?

@@whatsdavedone104 Thank-You for your reply! sorry, just seen it. I managed to figure it out, long story short, the issue was the pin had an extra digit in it (figured it out by accident). To remove / not get the mandatory lock screen issue, there is a setting in the google account to set Android devices to 'unmanaged' then it doesn't force it. I returned the unit and got a new one, and thanks to you is now working great with reverse and front camera connections! Thanks Again.
The only issue i have is yesterday ai changed the volume reduction level when in reverse (in the Factory Settings menu) and when i saved it, it restarted the unit, and now the steering wheel controls no longer work, any ideas? Cheers Dave.
@mexicomatt212 I am currently away on hoilday....have you tried "personalising"the steering controls to see if it works that way?
@@whatsdavedone104 Cheers Mate, enjoy your holiday! I joined the Facebook group, left a comment there explaining the issue. I did follow someone's instructions for setting the CAN TYPE back to my car, and then re-learning the buttons, my car was not in the options (VW EOS) so i chose Golf, the buttons were recognised when 'learning' but didn't work afterwards. I will try with different VW models., see if that sorts it. Weird thing is, it is if the car doesn't even recognise the stereo is there, there is no radio etc option on the instrument panel, there was before.
Think I sorted it! Didn't realise I had to navigate back to the Factory Settings page and then SAVE so that the stereo reset. (Was confusing as after each step there was a message on the stereo saying settings saved!)

Yes these eonon units do work with the oem flip cameras, you will need an rgb to av converter.....see link

@@whatsdavedone104The adapter from eonon A501 has a connector you can just click in the radio. So how did you connect that adapter from aliexpress with the radio?

Hey everyone, got an Eonon for my 08 touran, when i plug it all in there's no sound? There's an AMP cable already connected into the unit/canbus.
Any ideas please ?
Which model, is it new install?
The ones on the camera should have a wire to either connect or cut hanging on one end of the connector and that will get rid of the lines

Yes the Eonon VWA13 will work with 2008 mk5 but I would recommend the VWA12S6G over the VWA13 as it has more Ram and Memory.....VWA12S6G is a better unit

In a mk5 or mk6? Do you have a link to your unit?
If its in a mk5 that's the issue and will need hard wired to ignition live fuse....these units are designed around mk6 canbus system not mk5

@@TheRipper3564 I really like it. It doesn't work 100% of the time. Sometimes it doesn't output sound and you have to turn it off and on again. But when it works it's really fast, sounds good and really responsive
Mate, I cannot sort my steering wheel settings, and each time I turn my eonon off, it resets the time regardless of whether or not I have automatic settings or not??
Time is set via GPS/Bluetooth connection, ....what dobyou mean cannot sort steering wheel controls?
@whatsdavedone104 when I turn volume up it turns down when I turn volume down it goes back, when I go into the steering wheel learning it doesn't seem to make a difference to the controls?
I don't have my VWA13 anymore, I gave it away. I can't remember but I think there are 2 ways to set steering controls, join the Eonon Facebook group and ask on there
