I fell in love with Hayman drums listening to Lupine Howl. Hoping to someday have my own to hear ;) I believe Ajax were also used on their albums, so I've got some hunting to do...
Hi Nathaniel In case you are active on facebook, there is a group called "Hayman Drums" and currently there are some guys who want to sell their treasures. For example a blue Hayman Vibrasonic in very good condition and other beautiful pieces. It would be worth to send them a message. Shipping modalities can always be clarified individually ;) Good luck with your search. \m/
From Keith Jones Christian drummer now retired to Bude Cornwall. Recorded with various members of Hawkwind and UK band Spirogyra with Barbara Gaskin, Flying Fortress band UK, Saltpeter, Mission New Start Christian band, appeared a few years ago on BBC Bargain Hunt and yes we lost!!!! A really good renovation, well done, the finished product looks great. It took a lot of patience doing such a good job as you have done. I own a Midnight Blue Hayman kit plus a couple of DW kits and of course Gretsch and Ludwig. Keep up the good work with your drums. God Bless take care Keith. PS if interested google you tube Keith Jones drum solo Barnstaple North Devon.
Did you know, that Neil Peart reconditioned a set of Hayman drums that belonged to Corky Laing the Drummer from Mountain in the mid 80s, I dont know the year of the Kit but they had been sitting in the basement of Le Studio, in any case Neil loved the sound of the thin shells, and had Tama reproduce these shells for what would become NP next kit the Candy Apple red kit he played on Signals in 1982 through Power Windows 1985, that kit was the Artstar prototypes, Im not sure what the shells were like on the kit after the Artstars, But it was a Ludwig Super Classic, Im assuming the shells were pretty thin, because one of the main reasons Neil went to Drum Workshop after Ludwig was because DW had thin shelled kits and he liked the Resonance of the thin shells. The point im getting at is, it was all started by an old Hayman kit . Just a little useless knowledge for ya. Your Haymans turned out really nice, you should be very proud of the job you did, and how neat it is that that kit came in and out of you and your Dads lives for so many years. I hope you get many more years of enjoyment out of them !
@@edlaw51501 Hey hello, I didn't know any of that. This is really good background information about great instruments and people. And it's not useless knowledge at all. People like to hear stories like that. Thank you for that! Also thank you very much for the praise and kind words about my Hayman. There was certainly still a lot of room for improvement when carrying out my restoration. But I don't plan on giving it back. The ideal value and sentimentality associated with these drums are priceless. Cheers friend ;)
@@Born2RockU1 Hey Craig, those foils came from stdrums.com but I'm not sure anymore about the correct name. They sell different kinds of white marine pearl foils with different flake sizes. Sometimes I think I should have bought the c pearl antik white. It's so beautiful and fits best to my later bought 1968 George aera snare.
I bought most of the spare parts, such as the tension rods, from drum-attic in southern England. The operator is called Tristan Head - nice guy. Even if something is not listed in the online shop, he can usually supply you with what you need. However, I also mixed the 45 and 55 lengths. They both fit anywhere. ;)
@@dynasticlight1073 Same here. The tension rods already had "their price" and shipping was added. You get a weird look when you say you bought a handful of "screws" for €80 or $80 :D Luckily there were no customs duties at the time as it was before Brexit. Now it's probably even more expensive to ship to Germany because of this madness.. :P
Beautiful .. wonderful to see you reunited with an old friend !

Wow lovely restoration, hopefully you won't need to do this for another 47 years ha
Oh, I hope so too! :D But if the glue holds, nothing worse should happen. ;)
What the hell happened to them???
Before or after I refurbished it? 😂
Love it.
Thanks! :)
