Great match. If I was playing in the fore court, I would have hit some third shotblobs into the wind. A very good strategy, especially in senior mixed.
Third shot LOBS
thank you for these videos!!!! I am loving them.
Thanks, I really appreciate your comments.
pretty awesome plays for 50+
17:03 Because returning the ball to their kill zones is a losing proposition. Lob deep.
Scott has his paddle down all the time. Not ready for many shots. IMHO.
I disagree with you on this. Scott knows when an attack is likely and rarely gets caught out of position. Also, when the paddle is low, the ability to return fire with topspin is greater as the paddle is moving up. If your paddle stays high on attack, you will have less options to return fire as you will need the ball to stay above the net height.
@@spaghettimanpickleball Works for JW Johnson.
I think “paddle down” here means paddle head pointing down which is not good. You might keep paddle low as JW Johnson, but paddle head pointing down is never good unless a point is over.
Pop up’s are painful. Very tough to manage
Why does the gal in blue hug the middle line when her partner is returning the ball all that does is limit his angle of return
29:25 way to support your spouse, blonde. 😂
What level is this
5.0 + level play relative to being at least 50 years old and willing to pay extra money for fees.
I’m in La Quinta, CA and there are so many folks in this age group playing at this level and above. Really goes to show you how many strong players there are out there!
@@bznjenn8881 I agree. This sport has a lot of really good players, maybe because of its addictive nature.
looks like 2.5 I think
2.5-3.0
Really ?
ball hog ( poacher-win at all cost). not fun to watch.
Simply incorrect.
1. Very enjoyable to watch
2. Winning is the goal, this wasn't a recreational or exhibition match -- this was a tournament match.
3. The superlative statement "win at all cost" was never mentioned in the video, nor shown by any of the players. They played competitively.
As per your opinion, "poaching" is not negative in competitive play and often makes the play more exciting and dynamic.
In recreation play you are either playing for enjoyment, or practice. Either case both players should give opportunity for both to play, enjoy and learn.
It sounds like you have had a bad experience with a "team mate" that tried to take every ball from you.
Often a player will "poach" because they can make a better shot based on their position, forehand/backhand, skill and tempo. A "poach" is meant to push your advantage -- never to "hog" the ball away from the other player as both players are there to win.
Great response!
Dinking battle was the key. Scott's got very good Reflex and anticipation but paddle position is not good. If both team had same dinking skills then his team lost I think
