This is actually exactly what 60+ 4.0 looks like. Gold medal match at the US Open. They beat some really good teams to get here. It wasn't a match where 4.5+ players were playing in the 4.0 bracket, which a lot of people apparently were looking for. At 60+, you do get affected by fatigue and high temperatures. It had been a long day for these players, in severe heat, and that impacted the level of play, but they still performed very well. Great match!

Blah blah, about ratings, great Match Gents, great skills on Display!! Now I’m 55, with 1 year playing leaving behind 30 years of Racketball for the journey of trying to master the easiest sport to play while being hardest game to master!! Soon we’ll cross paths at tourneys at whatever rating , the Thanks, For Video!!

@@user-kt3sl1bj4w I was going to comment he wasn't having a 4.0 day. I'm 60+ and the heat kills me and I lose my coordination. I will also say, some clubs ratings get a little lax. Maybe, some people test good but don't measure up in game play...who knows.

I played at one club and was beating 4.0's. At the next club, I got slaughtered by a 3.5.

Definitely not 4.0 in our club... 3.5 at best.

One of the crazy things about Pickleball though is the lack of regulation in terms of ratings- I am not hating. I love all these guys who play. There are some really really really good players at six years old. there’s zero chance that this is 4.0 gold level. The guy in the blue shirt on the airport is probably a 3.0 tops.

@@user-kt3sl1bj4w I agree that the pickleball rating system leaves much to be desired. This tournament had over 3,000 players from around the world and was well represented for 4.0, 60-64. I also know that it was extremely hot and all players had a tough time with it.

@@spaghettimanpickleballrespectfully, the lack of talent from a couple here wasn’t due to weather… interestingly, I just made a similar comment on one your other videos (while also agreeing that the players in that video clearly were the level advertised. I realize that 4.0 isn’t that great, but this wasn’t even that- IMO

Ok sorry, I decided to watch one more time and consider what you said- the player in the blue is 100% 3.0-3.4 max. His serves are generally not in the back 80%, his returns are not deep, he rarely is actually at the kitchen line, he has happy feet, he often moves back from the kitchen line, he doesn’t read balls well, his hands are very “slow”, his dinks are often pop ups. I am not trying to be mean spirited- I just think that people that watch these videos are interested in their own place in the game. I watch a lot videos and play very often- by the way, I am not convinced that any of these 4 are true national 4.0’s - these aren’t 85 year olds either.
