This reminds me of a Documentary I saw on H. R. Giger. He said when he was very young he got a human skull as a present. He said he did not really know what to do with it, so he tied it to a string and walked it along with him across the neighborhood, like it was a puppy or something, and scared his neighbors shitless.
Giger was such an interesting, incredible person and artist. THIS is a new tidbit for me. I'm still giggling over the mental picture. I wonder if he's in the Netherworld, disappointed in his manner of death...
feed my flesh to the pigs, use my bones for a wicked bone staff or a dragon or something, and use my skull as a cup... its sad that I'm only half joking...
"You see these bones? You wanna know what *made* these bones? You don't wanna know what made these bones." My favorite one yet! So many gorgeous displays and creations.
I love the skull lamp however my gutter brain took me down a path and had me cracking up-- With the addition of the racoon penises one could argue that it's a 'dick-head' lamp.
Angela Benedict Dickhead lamp is the best comment ever! I thought of exactly the same comment after watching this video but alas I am somewhat "too late"! 😔 Sigh....!However I must add "that having a dick head for a lamp is a little unusual; but what a great laugh and/or a great conversation opener this lamp must be as well Voltaire". Great lamp for the gothically, macabre and darkly inclined individual, I must say; that type of person "being me".🤣😂🤣 If only I could buy myself a real skull?💀💀💀Although I've got a pretty good copy of a human skull for witchcraft, with magickal & planetary symbols upon the skull's head from eBay.💀♈️💟✡️☮️♏️🌹I adore all of Voltaire's Gothic Home Making Series as it's one of the few video's that when I receive a notification from, that truly makes me smile with anticipation.😀😍🤗 I always look forward to your video's Voltaire. I adore your sense of humour, enjoy your music and love your "Gothic Home Decorating" Video series very much! I would love to try most of your ideas in our home! But alas my husband isn't such a gothically inclined individual as yourself nor I; hard to believe I know, but it's true. Although to be honest we do have a lot of witchcraft, goddess statues, Dragons, pentagrams, heaps of tarot decks, crystals, bones, feathers, stones, lots of assorted witches & gothic paraphernalia also"; which influences our gothically influenced decorating idea's ourselves. Which isn't always easy when one half of our couple is a "muggle" and the other is a "witch". We live together just fine generally until our "pet DRAGONS"🐲🐉 are starting to be a problem with some of our neighbours. Oh well such is life! Cheers Voltaire,🍷🍾🥂🦋🕸🕷🦇💀Love Caz.⭐😍🌙🌊🐬🌹🦇🇦🇺💀🌏✨
Well I know I am never going to have my room as Gothic as I want it to be since I am on a REALLY strict budget. BUT I managed to convince my father to paint my room with a nice coat of mausoleum grey Now, if only I could convince my mother to get rid of these Spongebob Squarepants bed covers and pillow cases...
I'm a medical student and at my school we use real skulls, not models. Never have I felt more goth than when I was part of a row of students each with a skull in front of us, looking them over with rapt attention.
When you finally have the Lair decorated maybe directing a gothic crafting channel (kind of on the side) might be a nice idea. The lamp looked great. And I have an odd request. What does the kitchen look like? How exactly to go about "Goth-ing" up a kitchen is a project to wrap one's head about.
steve thepirate There is a lot of kitchen decor available around Halloween. I've seen dishes, canisters, measuring cups, flatware, and dining room stuff like tablecloths, center pieces, etc. Wait until the day after and hit the sales.
And if you prefer the vampire banquet look, Avon's 1876 collection of dishes could work. (Blood red, pressed glass in a cut-glass look. Fairly common vintage pattern.)
I just go all stainless steel and metal but I am also ocd so everything must be dress right dress..plus I think my kitchen is bigger than his apartment 💋🖤so anything out of place and it is a mess to me.
I absolutely loved the part when Voltaire said he was going to use the Raccoon penis bones to stir his coffee with it, that was hilarious! Gothic Homemaking is inspiring me to give my bedroom a Gothic Lolita themed makeover!
Thank you for making this series. Not only does this give me great inspiration, but you're showing great examples of where to get things, and even how to DIY. Also, you made me laugh. :)
Naw, Voltaire is WAY better! You know he'd never indulge in insider trading--unless the stocks he was trading were the type used to punish naughty Puritans during the 1600's! -_^
I love this web series, it's cool to see you in so many places, and it's great to see old friends from other shows (Oddities). I mostly love seeing you introduce so many wonderful artists. Thanks for doing this.
i work in anthropology and archaeology and this episode makes me all "LOOK AT THE ABSENCE OF SUTURES!!! THAT'S GOTTA BE OVER 60 YEARS OLD! FULL SKELETON? GET ONE WITH FUSED EPIPHYSES!! YOU NEED THEM FUSED! ONLY THE BEST HAVE DENTAL MODIFICATIONS!!!!" I LOVE MY JOB LOL
I've probably seen this episode hundreds of times over the past 5 years, and I literally JUST got the mighty boosh reference from Nanagedon calling the project the "Obsidian blackbird mcnight" 🤣 brilliant
We enjoyed your talk (and the gig) in Whitby over the weekend. I will be very sad if this is indeed the last episode of Gothic Homemaking. Your creativity is so inspiring.
Just found this channel/show yesterday, after watching it's black friday and fell in love with it. So sad it will end...and so sad that I missed every of your concerts in germany...
"Bottles" was the perfect choice for this episode! You can get the full track here at our band camp! craigduncanandtheoutlaws.bandcamp.com/track/bottles
I swear this is the truth. The BEST birthday gift I was ever given was a human skull, from an Archeologist friend of my parents, that taught at Tulane University. I had him for many years, until he was stolen. He was the beginning of getting over my fears of death and monsters. Honestly, I still miss him. And yes it was verified to be a young man.
OMG you are my decorating twin! Love your channel and ideas! Last year when I added purple to my black/grey/royal blue gothic/gargoyle bedroom, I dyed and trimmed out my lampshades purple and wired some black and purple moroccan lanterns. This year I'm back to just black/grey/royal blue. LOVE gothic decorating - you're the best!!! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
I love this show so much, I have watched each episode several times. I truly love it, and I hope it goes "viral" so Voltaire can keep making these. Thank you Voltaire!!
I adore this series, but am heartbroken this is the second to last episode (possibly for ever). I understand why but it still makes me sad. I'll just have to keep re-watching all the episodes indefinitely...
This is by far my favorite episode so far i could not stop laughing at your sillyness, please keep making more episodes as these always make my day 10000x's better.
You are the channel that got me back into the gothic subculture, and more serious about it too, thank you sooo much, I love you 😍 (not in a creepy way, ok maybe....)
because of your show, i actually wanted to decorate my living space- it got my creative juices flowing and even gave me an idea when you cant or are not allowed to paint a space but can tack things up- that gothic fabrics are a good way to go- so far on one wall i have black and white chandliers in varying sizes and plan to do more in time- I know there is only one more ep to go- but I truly hope you make more- also is nice to find gothically inclined individuals online- in my home town they are seldom and far in between- so watching you, black friday, toxic tears, and angela benedict helps me feel like there is alot more goths that are accepted than what is in my own town. keep doing what you do best my good sir- and hope to see more of ya in the future.
I would be like a kid in a toy store at the Morbid Anatomy Flea Market. It's so much harder and more expensive over here to build a collection like that. Best episode yet!
My fiancee picked up a rabbit spine for me and I glued it into a black frame and glued pale purple and blue fake flowers on it. It's one of my favorite decorations. My aunt just have me a deer jaw and I plan on putting it in a coffin with more of the same flowers

I just love this to bits...I'm building this cabim in the woods in Scotland and I think I may give the interior a Goth twist. I am going off Grid and on to Solar/wind hybrid system so candelabra and cool looking lamps are just what I need and anything that can be used to make the interior different is welcome.
I love how after hearing the price, he instead buys the smallest, cheapest thing there... like Same.
This reminds me of a Documentary I saw on H. R. Giger. He said when he was very young he got a human skull as a present. He said he did not really know what to do with it, so he tied it to a string and walked it along with him across the neighborhood, like it was a puppy or something, and scared his neighbors shitless.
*Is now frantically googling "H.R. Giger Documentary"*
It was on Netflix when I saw it, if that helps at all
Giger was such an interesting, incredible person and artist. THIS is a new tidbit for me. I'm still giggling over the mental picture. I wonder if he's in the Netherworld, disappointed in his manner of death...
"I need something to stir my coffee with" Well then, I'm not one to judge. lol!
I always thought I wanted to donate my body to scientific research... but actually... maybe I want to be donated to a goth to be made into art.....
ugh same! its just bones! strip the flesh and use it to garden. turn the bones into a center piece!
feed my flesh to the pigs, use my bones for a wicked bone staff or a dragon or something, and use my skull as a cup... its sad that I'm only half joking...
Hell yea
Gothic Homemaking, The best think about mondays, best show ever.
Yes, i love it, best show
"You see these bones? You wanna know what *made* these bones? You don't wanna know what made these bones."
My favorite one yet! So many gorgeous displays and creations.
There is a no more creative and beautiful group of people than a Goth community. Thank you for your videos!
I love the skull lamp however my gutter brain took me down a path and had me cracking up-- With the addition of the racoon penises one could argue that it's a 'dick-head' lamp.
Angela Benedict lol. I subscribe to your channel. I read that in your voice 😊
hahaha. Same.
Jeuelle Louise Haha! That's awesome!
Angela Benedict Dickhead lamp is the best comment ever! Maaaan, you beat me to it. The "dick head lamp" joke, that is.
No doubt about it, Doktor Frankenweiner is my favorite character. He needs his own action figure.
Best thing to happen on UA-cam is this
Well I know I am never going to have my room as Gothic as I want it to be since I am on a REALLY strict budget.
BUT I managed to convince my father to paint my room with a nice coat of mausoleum grey
Now, if only I could convince my mother to get rid of these Spongebob Squarepants bed covers and pillow cases...
one thing at a time mate, one thing at a time
Although, if you had any siblings/young relatives you could convince her to give it to them
I'm a medical student and at my school we use real skulls, not models. Never have I felt more goth than when I was part of a row of students each with a skull in front of us, looking them over with rapt attention.
Resin skulls can be made into nice candle holders as well. Red candles give it a nice dripping blood effect.
when the purevile guy said "oh hey voltaire" i could only think of "The Room" with "oh hey mark"
Thank you, Voltaire, for living the goth life we all want and for handling life's everyday problems with grace and good humor.
Now to convince my husband that I need supplies to make a skull lamp...
this show has inspired me to redecorate my apartment
Lasluna first thing ill do when i finally get my own place too :D
i know , but till then i have created some nifty things in the process
Oh, you did? I havent been able to, so hard to find anything remotely goth or dark in Slovenia..
my aesthetics are more victorian , and mish mash of things i have made throughout the years such as paintings, sculptures, and found object.
Lasluna sounds interesting. im thinking where to start, my country is so anti-goth, that i would be reduced to buying expensive online stuff :/
The perfect goth webserie doesn't exi-
Think again
Nanageddon is my favourite episode from the Mighty Boosh! This project couldn't be named any better.
I love Gothic Homemaking, it's so awesome to see this creativity!

As a fan of skulls and skeletons, this was my favorite episode.
You are like a goth Martha Stewart.
Naw, Voltaire is WAY better! You know he'd never indulge in insider trading--unless the stocks he was trading were the type used to punish naughty Puritans during the 1600's! -_^
Hey, numbskull, look at me, I got a bone to pick with thee
You ain't humerus, stop ribbin' me
Have a spine, bone up on settin' me free!
I'm in the middle of a cannibal buffet
I'm feeling rare, they like me that way
So if you really wanna know what's eatin' me
It's the man-eaters on the coast of Barbary
nice to see obscura and the oddities gang again after so many years.
Each week this show just gets better and better!
It's amazing how many artistic, creative and goth people you know and are friends with.
Well I just spent my Sunday Night Binge watching this series and now I'm sad there's only one episode left.
I love these episodes. Please don't stop! I'm not a goth, but I've always admired the lifestyle. The shops, clothes, etc is fucking beautiful art 😄
Although "Dr. Voltaire" has a nice ring to it
SpookyRoseVA i think id trust him
I feel like each week I marvel more and more at your handiness and creativeness.
Keep it up!!!
When you run out of projects please continue these is someone else's home! Love these projects!
I love this web series, it's cool to see you in so many places, and it's great to see old friends from other shows (Oddities). I mostly love seeing you introduce so many wonderful artists. Thanks for doing this.
I got really excited when he walked into Obscura.
Your videos just keep getting better. So, much creativity and humor omg. I am in love.
Why I DON'T hate Mondays anymore...Voltaire and his show...Magnifique💀 So inspiring...
Beautiful art❤❤

I have just watched every single one of these Gothic Homemaking, and they are SO FANTASTIC! I just can't even! Can't wait for more!

The best part of Mondays.
Just found this channel/show yesterday, after watching it's black friday and fell in love with it. So sad it will end...and so sad that I missed every of your concerts in germany...

Woo hoo! New episode

I love this show so much, I have watched each episode several times. I truly love it, and I hope it goes "viral" so Voltaire can keep making these. Thank you Voltaire!!
That kiss! So sweet! You did an awesome job on the lamp. Especially the shade. Great idea!
I love everything about this show. Thank you for supporting our community!
These episodes are true gems! Oh Voltaire, you creative GOD!
I adore this series, but am heartbroken this is the second to last episode (possibly for ever). I understand why but it still makes me sad. I'll just have to keep re-watching all the episodes indefinitely...
Your cat needs a name! I think a suitable one would be "Fluffy"
I have 2 one is a black cat named blair and one named salem
This is by far my favorite episode so far i could not stop laughing at your sillyness, please keep making more episodes as these always make my day 10000x's better.
I LOVE the lamp! It's a lavishly gothic explosion of panache.
Creative, informative, with a dash of comedy. While I'm not Gothic, I do like the macabre art style and creativity. I love this series.
I laughed a bit to hard at that ending! Will definitely be watching these all again soon for the new house I'm in! THANK YOU fo these Voltaire!
beautiful job on the lamp.... so much attention to detail! I really like your use of the purple gel, it must give an amazing glow in person! ♡♡♡
You are the channel that got me back into the gothic subculture, and more serious about it too, thank you sooo much, I love you 😍 (not in a creepy way, ok maybe....)
that moment when you cant sleep so you watch all the gothic homemaking videos on a marathon
because of your show, i actually wanted to decorate my living space- it got my creative juices flowing and even gave me an idea when you cant or are not allowed to paint a space but can tack things up- that gothic fabrics are a good way to go- so far on one wall i have black and white chandliers in varying sizes and plan to do more in time- I know there is only one more ep to go- but I truly hope you make more- also is nice to find gothically inclined individuals online- in my home town they are seldom and far in between- so watching you, black friday, toxic tears, and angela benedict helps me feel like there is alot more goths that are accepted than what is in my own town. keep doing what you do best my good sir- and hope to see more of ya in the future.

Best episode yet!

>dem medical specimens
My sister is a doctor; now I know what I'm asking from her for Christmas this year. Thanks, Voltaire!
Awesome series, absolutely loving it, keep it up Voltaire
That first girl made me fall in love! How do you resist Voltaire? You hang around cuties so often and somehow hold back D:
it is starting to get cluttered but i am still watching
Ahhh was so glad to see Forgotten Boneyard get a shout out, I got my very first wet specimen from him at a Horror Hound Weekend in Cincinnati
Oh my Gosh I love Ren's stained glass front door
This is one of my favorite things on the internet. Thanks for sharing so much cool stuff with us!
"for how long have you been a homosexual"
Who wouldn't wanna kiss Voltaire? He's hot!
IKR... Especially with that *voice*!
ive been gay for....uhm...3 mabe 4 years?
Inspiration Overload!!!
Finally my Creator's Block is Goooooooone!!!!!!!
Oh Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!!!
Looking forward to seeing Dr Frankenweiner finish fixing the lamp on the next episode. The lighting will look beautiful, I just know it.
Another great episode! Every one I watch makes me want to redo my bedroom.
best episode yet! everything is to die for!
My favorite episode by far.
by the gods I love this show... so informative, inspiring, and entertaining.
I LOVE it when you go all deathling DIY.
I forgot all about that oddities show, I loved that show so much. The lamp you made was inspired I want one now.
Obsidian Blackbird McKnight - now I want to watch boosh! that lamp is definitely one my favourite creations, so far! you have so many creative ideas ♥
The lamp is BEAUTIFUL!
There is a company that sells human skull fire stones. I know living in a New York apartment you may not have a fire pit but, for those of us with a more spacious yard, we can have a pit with the skulls of our enemies. If you are not dissuaded by a lack of inferno you can find the logs on Amazon by the seller Myard.
I've seen those. They are very cool. And yeah, no fire pits in tiny NYC studios. ; )
I used to watch these when they got posted on Thursdays as I got ready for Bible study. lol
I need to borrow a drill and turn one of my skulls into a pen holder or vase. Thanks for the idea V.
My favorite episode since the beginning !
Well done ! The lamp looks amazing ! And as I travelled to New York city two weeks ago, I was happy to see the two shops I went in (Obscura and Evolution).
Also, next week I'll be (finally, after all those years dreaming about it) in the WGT, so it was funny that you mention that too !!
Thank you for all the instagram artists you mentionned ! I really enjoy discover new artists ! those videos are really great, I'm glad you continued making them !
have an nice australian tour !
Absurdly wonderful!
I so miss these longer videos just so much carictor
That acting in this show is so cheesy but it fits in so well with the homemaking aspect. I love it!
oh my, that stinger it's plainly amazing
Obsidian BlackBird McKnight! Always delighted to catch a Mighty Boosh reference, you have excellent taste in comedy.
I just love this to bits...I'm building this cabim in the woods in Scotland and I think I may give the interior a Goth twist. I am going off Grid and on to Solar/wind hybrid system so candelabra and cool looking lamps are just what I need and anything that can be used to make the interior different is welcome.
binging the whole Gothic Homemaking series on election night to calm my nerves
NICE skull lamp I love your gothic style ideas I have to making that for my New House.
My absolute favorite web series👏🏻
I miss these long episodes
