Thank you for this video and it worked. I never thought to ask comcast why the cable box won't shut off when you press the "All Power" button on the comcast remote.

I love this misinformed lady she jumping through hoops to control the box and the TV, and Comcast makes it so easy for you to select what you wanted to do in the preference settings. Also just call Comcast and they will explain to you how to do it very friendly and knowledgeable.

Thank you. My box says SLEEP. Is it different from Power down? Any way now I can turn both tv and cable box on or off in one remote. Thanks again!

Hello, from my knowledge power is a temp mode that allows one button to turn back on - whereas power down completely shuts down the unit - You make have a more updated box than I did.

Thank you!!! I’m tired of getting up to turn off the box. Specially because we pay so much money for this!

LOL. I've got the exact opposite problem. I can't turn off the TV without the cable box also turning off. I want the cable box to stay on so that my DVD player can record something while I'm away. I was so envious when at the beginning of the video you turned the TV off and the box was still on . . . The only way I can turn the TV off and keep the box on is to not use any remote, leave the cable box on, and unplug the TV from the power strip.
So what remote setup did you start with that enabled you to turn the TV off and keep the box on?

Yes you are recording a program make darn sure, when you turn off your TV set, the cable box is still on. If it turns off with the TV when you go back to your DVD recorder, you're going to get nothing. I had the same problem, Comcast told me to unplug the set top box, then plug it back in. This is the way to clear up any problems that you might have. And now when I turn off the TV set, the set top box remains on, as designed by the Comcast engineers.

Once again it's time for me to clear up the situation. On your X1 box go to settings, you will see the setting for box to turnoff with TV or not turnoff TV, simply select when you want and will always stay like that forever, and you don't have to mess around the buttons anymore. In closing X1 box has several personal preferences in the settings, there for your convenience use them.

Will it still record your shows if it's powered down? Because i have it on power saving mode but it does nothing at all.

YES, you know what - my box is constantly hot and I never --- listen to me never turn it on - I can go weeks and not watch that TV and the box is still hot - I need to do a service call to check on that - thanks for reminding me - I don't think that's normal
