I totally agree about the lack of the "Jaws effect" throwing this film off as well.
I was pretty annoyed that there wasn't a better sense of world-building and understanding of the creatures, or even what caused them to come to earth in the first place.
I was fairly intrigued to watch this. But afterwards, it ended up feeling much more like a cash grab instead.
Yeah I like the actors and I see what they were trying to do, but I just don't think this was the right movie for the story they wanted to tell.
Since I haven’t checked out the movie yet I’ll wait to see the movie but commenting for the algorithm

I thought it was a very lazy movie. Visually and sound-wise, the few action scenes were fine. We learn nothing new about the creatures that we didn’t already know, and we literally get 10 minutes of character development before it goes straight into the destruction, and there’s not even context for that. The cat is the MVP and has his own stunt double. I cared less about the main characters and the woman; she was most likely going to pass anyway, so that was a poor decision to have her have cancer. I really didn’t care for it much. That's coming from a big fan of the original 2.
Yeah I really liked the first two so I was looking forward to this one. Not at all what I was hoping for despite the good performances

Not really a fair review. Scoring the story low because it’s not the plot you wanted? Hello, narcissist. I just saw it, and thinking about it now, it’s really a standalone film. You don’t need to have seen the other films to know what’s going on, but it does help. It’s not as good as the other too, less suspenseful, but I’d say 7.5.
I'm glad you liked it. This is obviously just my opinion. I think it's a good isolated story, but not a good origin story for A Quiet Place. I thought both main actors did great though as I did say in my review.
