I'm not really into deck-builders, but I get the appeal. The TD aspect adds a layer that could draw me in though. ...though I also don't tend to love pure TD either, I like fusion with TD and FPS or hack and slash or real time maintain/upgrade, or something. This could really appeal to a lot of gamers though.
It seems to be done well with a good amount of depth and interesting art.
Interesting mechanic to pay for removing weak cards from the deck.
I do like the mechanic of expanding the map though. That's a lot of fun!
The upgrade tree is also nice and diverse, which is fun too.
South is pretty protected, but I worry about West having larger waves.
The lightning storms sure are useful!
Dang, South was the downfall after all. I don't think I understood how you knew West wasn't going to be much of a problem. Seemed like a wild gamble to me.

The west thing was a bit of a gamble, I noticed that that side seemed to be hit less hard up until I expanded it. My guess is that every entrance has a set difficulty of units per wave, but that expanding that side will add difficulty if that makes sense. Like if west was a difficulty 3, then when I expanded (let's say on wave 7) west became difficulty 10. South would then be all other expansions added together. Just a guess, but the extreme jump in strength of west after just one mid-late game expansion made me think that.
I have a vague perfect game in my brain that combines a lot of these different game elements, I feel like TD is sort of part of the puzzle. Colony Survival is pretty close to what's in my head. But I think what I'd like to see is a bunch of Colony Survival-likes duel to out and push the concept further. Base Building/Survival, First Person Fighter, Colony Management/Resource Management, Open World, making it fun is the hard part. Valheim adds to the picture some too, making it a little less sandbox-y and throwing in more goals. 7 Days to Die hit at the idea too, but that game never got finished unfortunately.
