👍Great video, Professor! Michael Lewis IS the best nonfiction writer of our time, and despite the controversy, this IS one of great ⚾ baseball stories! (Like it or not!) 😎✌️
I find it to be extremely interesting that Joe Morgan was a critic, because Morgan, a Hall of Fame talent, was overlooked by many MLB teams for being “too small.”
You'd think small and fat ballplayers would naturally connect with the Moneyball approach. Morgan had such a knee jerk opposition to the notion that statistics could provide new insights.
I really appreciate the comment. I thought the title, "Moneyball", would generate more interest. After all, it's a bestselling book and commercially successful film. Algorithms are indeed mysterious. I have short videos lined up for this Friday and the next so I'm wondering if increased activity will get my stuff recommended to more people by the all-powerful UA-cam.
I feel like Moneyball, StatCast, and Sabrmetrics have taken the soul out of pro baseball. Now it's all min-maxed to things like launch angle, pitch spin rate, who gets more hits in home games on Mondays, and other stuff that nobody cares about.

Excellent video. Jim Bouton’s ball four had a huge impact as well. Great book too.

As a SABR member, I'm always appreciative of a shout out to my history nerd people!
Well written and delivered. Your tone of voice and honest story telling is refreshing and entertaining.❤Cheers
Thanks for the comment.
Thank you for sticking up for John Kruk 😂
Well done Prof. Keep up the good work!
This is a great channel. You should have half a million subscribers, at least.
Am a bit surprised and annoyed that this video remains "undiscovered" because it has some great insights! The mystery of the algorithms....? 🤔
