Your journey sounds so similar to mine. I didn't even make it to Uni, but did the whole work up the ladder, studied accountancy on the side, quit one job, went into accountancy for just over a year (hated it). Left and literally started a completely different journey in marketing as an intern. Imagine leaving a solid salary for £30 a day 😭😫 I did it and within two years I was running a team and managing two departments. Left after 3 years...now I run my own media publication 💃🏽🙋🏽 Take no passengers - do what you LOVE, life is far too short to not chase the dream. I did all of that while raising our little bubba...then we added two more bubbas to the team lol. I'm happy - confident - found my feet and honestly wouldn't do it differently. I took big risks, but I knew I'd work my ass off! Just go for it - with EVERYTHING and don't overlook internships, they're gold!!!
Sandy Croft this is so inspiring! I have a good and well payed job and I am thinking of dropping everything to go back to Uni to become a Midwife. This gave me a boost of confidence that it's worth the risk.
I have been watching since you were a kinda hair channel. I think you had like 1k subscriber's. Lol your growth is spectacular to watch. Beautiful woman with a beautiful genuine heart. You deserve the success.
That was probably the most useful informative UA-cam video I have ever watched and has pushed me to go ahead with an idea I have! Very grateful. Brilliant video 👌🏾❤️
This made me realise how much I have been watching you.Seeing your growth is amazing. congrats on how far you've come and good luck to you for the success to come
Patricia, I'm so glad you made this video. I'm right there in that spot. I'm 32 and have been considering a career and lifestyle change for years. I think it's time for me to fail and fail fast. I'm also in a relationship and was wondering how you stay so grounded in who you are and what you (as a singular individual) are about. I think somewhere along the way I've let bits and pieces of myself go. Now I'm in a space of rediscovery and it's difficult.
Felicia Lee Oh I am a 30 year old mummy and wife and totally relate. My life has been ok but now i am looking to finding myself as an individual and confused is an understatement. Good luck
Felicia Lee I can relate. Sometimes the struggle is so real. Still trying to strike the balance, like Pat said rediscovery and reinvention of oneself is the way. forward.
A good way to stay encourage is to listen to something positive EVERYDAY! It really does stave off the feelings of despair, wanting to give of, or feeling defeated. God bless!
When you've heard all the stories before you know your a real fan girl! dam I need to be as dedicated to drinking water as I am to watching Patricia 😂🙌🏽💃🏽
I have really worked hard these past 2 years and all is worth it now because I'm finally getting to study Nursing at University. I'm soo excited to start this new chapter, praise to God🙌🏾He held me through good and bad times
PATRICIA! This is gold. Probably the best video I have seen and will probably be the best video to date. This is just brilliant... can you please do a series on career advice and life advice. I didn't know your past but I am gonna look at you past videos!
lol, I just graduated with a 2.1 in June, been looking for an internship, that was taking long so I'm also working in a hospital but as a ward clerk until January when my internship starts lol... Glad I'm not the only one who had to find a random job to keep afloat during job search.
Jasmine Ekusai Please check out www.testyles.com I have some advice/tips on what to do when looking for internships/work experience. I hope this helps you and best of luck and keep pushing.
have you thought about using your skill sets to also start a side business. one day you may be able to quit your job and live off your business. best of luck!
I hesitate to say this because I really don't support negative comments, but I will say it is just amazing to see a UA-camr that went to school and worked very hard in the regular ole workforce before choosing to pursue a job on this platform. I don't think everyone needs uni or corporate jobs, but having a young woman whom clearly committed herself to the idea that you get what you put in, that most people are not going to be handed what they want, it must be earned by doing the work, that's a message all the young adult viewers here can benefit from. I see comments on many different channels stating they wished they had what the creator had, or maybe thinking that these multimillion subscriber youtubers don't really have to work hard to have all those amazing things. Maybe that is true for some, but this is a great example of the steps it took just to get to this platform, let alone the work needed to make a real living off making videos.
I'm in the US & started working when I was a senior in high school. I never went to college but I ended up at a job when I was 22 in a mostly male driven industry. I've been at this company now for 16 years & probably know more about the business than most of the men. It was never a job I thought I wanted but it works for me. I learn all I can to make myself better each day. My advice to younger people is just get out there & start somewhere, you never know where it will lead! Love your videos Patricia! So much great advice & I can tell you truly care about your audience. ❤️
I lived for this video!!!! you are so well spoken and wise girl - I have been a supporter since day 1 and have seen you come a long way, its a true testament!! ......I think I will make a similar video coz I am 27 (in 8 days lol) just finished my Masters in Clinical Psychology and it took me a longggg time to get to this point - definitely have a lot to say - and I definitely went down a windy road to get here ....but God has been sooo good to me with the opportunities I am now getting that are psychology related which is my passion! look out for it next Wednesday if anyone is interested :)
aww amazing!! what are you studying? don't be scared girl I actually found my Masters easier than undergrad and I had a 5 year gap in-between and had to learn everything from scratch compared to my peers who went straight into their Masters after undergrad
#GOALS......Got me wondering how to move to the finance sector and get that Coin you are talking about. Great advice. Almost nobody knows what they want to do with the rest of their life. Even at 30. Xoxo
A helpful to is to read, read, read. Start with, "The 4 Hour Work Week." Also, listen to the podcast titled, "Side Hustle School." Make sure your start with the first episode. Very informative.
JustDoing Mi it's investment banking/capital markets/private equity / consulting for banks = corporate finance and market aka high finance. Huge money to make but huge hours. If you are young you can still do it :)
Léa B man, picking a Banking and Finance uni course was the best decision of my life. I'm graduating this year and I couldn't be more excited for what's next.
I am currently going through a career change and start my new journey on Monday! I'm very nervous but watching this has made me feel more comfortable about my decision. I enjoy your videos more than any other UA-camr's because of your beauty, your humour and above all your substance. You are the full package! 😍
Patricia you're so motivational I always take away one sentence, phrase or concept from your videos that really motivate me to do whatever I have to do!
Patricia I've watched you for YEARS and to see your growth is really a testimony- you're proof on the advice you gave about being patient and just focusing.
I've been stressing so much about where I'm transferring once I'm done with my associates. This video is GOLD, you woman are a big inspiration to us who still don't have a clue of what the real career life is. Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed to see today.
INSPIRATION!!! I'm a working mumma that UA-cams too. I work as a Business Manager and find it hard to balance UA-cam, work as well as being a mum but I'm going to keep going and trying for him 💪🏽👶🏽 Thank you so much for giving me hope xxxx
look at you with your coke sponsorship! so proud of you girl. I've been here since the beginning. it crazy to watch someone's success form in front of your eyes. your literally my inspiration when running my businesses
I had no idea you worked in IB industry, Patricia! That's what I want to do, now I watch your videos with a whole different perspective and you seem like a Super Woman, making your way up to the most competitive men-driven corporate world 🙌🏼💕
I will admit I only got turned onto your videos bc I loved your accent and your style. But it pleases me to say your are truly an inspiration and positive role model for all women. I am so happy I stumbled upon your channel. Thank you for always using your own experiences to help other people gain perspective that they CAN do what they love! Keep up the good work Patricia. From one mom to another, your daughter is so lucky to have a strong mother like yourself! Much 💜 from Texas ✌🏽
It's true that once you face your fear, it's not as scary. I went to two auditions last year. After the first one, I wasn't as fearful. It was actually exhilarating. Now, I'm in the process of writing my own things and hopefully, producing and directing them... maybe I'll land a big role.... Maybe not.
You give me absolute LIFE. Truly the best career advice. I have most definitely learned a lot from this. I am 20yrs old from the U.S. I'm rather new to your channel, and this video is the reason why you'll always be my fave youtuber. You are so smart and resourceful on so many levels. You make your videos intriguing and informal just by being honest and being yourself, and I'm sure that's what people love most. Thank you for sharing these videos with us! I wish I had found you sooner, but, f$#% it, I'll binge watch the old videos too, lol.
Incredible advice Patricia! So many of us are deviating from the career path we thought we'd have off uni and trying to take a step towards what we truly love to do. I myself graduated as an engineer, worked in fashion then randomly dabbled in world sport admin and now is venturing towards hospitality entrepreneurship. It's a whirlwind but it's all cumulatively growing me towards something bigger. Thanks for the valuable advice. X
I feel so blessed to have discovered Patricia so many years ago, she has inspired and given me so much wisdom to inform my decisions. At the minute I'm taking the leap to move to Germany something that I've planning/dreaming about doing for so long and this video could not have been timed more perfectly. Thank you 😊
You have no idea how random I came across this video. I'm so glad I did! You are truly an inspiration! It's people like you who encourage me everyday to just go for it and to never give up no matter how many times I may fall.
Thank you so much this is exactly what I needed today. I'm 18 just about to take a gap year then uni and the past few years has been a struggle and because of this for the first time ever I sent my CV's out. So from the bottom of my heart thank you and God bless
Patricia, you've always been such an inspiration to me. You were the first UA-camr I subscribed to in 2012! I am a new mother currently and I stay at home while my husband works. I find that it is not the lifestyle for me and I'd like to work and start a business on my own. Watching this video ignited a spark in my determination to be the best I can be. Taking a leap of faith is scary as hell but thanks to you, I'm jumping in. Thank you!!❤️
I missed your chatty videos, and this one was fantastic! I loved your honesty, but also the courage and determination you spoke of...so many people have big dreams but get discouraged when they see all the work to be done. Your story shows that hard work not only pays off, but can also be used to brighten someone's day :)
This video is the most inspiring video I've seen on youtube for a long time... I am so happy I found you Patricia because you are funny and intelligent! Best combination ever.
Wow I seriously needed this. I was literally just stressing about moving onto a different area of study and then I got a notification and 💥 I'm here. This seriously helps ~ thank you bb 💕
Patricia, if you're just going off of helping people then your life has definitely been made. I've been watching you for yeeeaarrrrrsss and I'm so thankful because I've seen you grow, seen you evolve and I know it wasn't easy. Also, thank you for this video, it came at the right time. As a recent graduate who wants to change career paths, this video helped me see the bright side of the situation I'm in :)
So important that you're imparting your knowledge and experience to peers and young women. Nothing comes for free. Thanks for sharing your hustle and wisdom. Keep it coming girl! 🔥
This was amazing, uplifting and encouraging advice for everyone. I personally would love to see more "career oriented videos". No matter where a person is in his/her career things like this serve a valuable purpose and as Patricia stated you are helping and that's so important.
I'm so obsessed with you and your videos. You always know what to say. Your content just has substance. And your personality is so infectious, I love it!!
My favourite videos are ALWAYS the ones where Patricia talks about university & her career 🤗 They actually inspire me a lot because for the last few years; I've been going through S E R I O U S trials & tribulations w/ regards to university & my career path
Amazing Video Patricia! You are inspiring, and a go-getter! You just know how to connect with people and pass on your knowledge in a passionate way. Love it! You go girl!!
Patricia I just stumbled upon your videos last week and I am in love! Love your energy and ideas. They are perfectly timed in my life. You are inspirational. Thank you for your time it helps this small town momma❤
This is great advice. I left college (University) for a few years and returned two years ago to finish. I graduate in December and I made sure I spent the last two years gaining experience. I volunteered, interned twice and worked in the media and publication outlets at my University. It's REALLY helpful. I will begin applying for jobs next month!
Thanks for the encouragement I'm currently unemployed. I'm a vet, I've served my country which I'm proud of. I started a biz that has since failed but I'm still trying. Currently my life is in shambles but, I'm hoping it will come together. Good video Pat!
these are my favourite type of videos! Thank you for sharing! Love how you always want to inspire people and showing how everything is possible yet still being sooooo relatable THANK YOU!
always like the video before watching, love watching your long sit down videos, you've always remained so down to earth and relatable, which is why i've been watching you for so long!☺️
what you said in the end was the best thing i heard "if youre going to fail fail fast!" i wish i heard that two years ago but im glad im hearing it now.
Patricia, you are such a strong and intelligent woman! I really look up to you!! So amazing to see a beautiful and well spoken black woman being an example online!
Sigh.. I needed this. I'm planning to move to another country to pursue a new career. Its been somewhat scary deciding on how I'm going to make this decision happen, applying for jobs, etc.. so this video is a God send and has really encouraged me! Thanks doll Xx
Yaaasss I need some Patricia inspo right about now! In my 2nd year of uni now, and managing my UA-cam channel on the side, and you have 100% been my biggest inspiration! Love you Pat 😍💖
A perfect video for me to watch right now. Just finished university and have a degree in a career I don't want to pursue. In limbo land currently so I'm just figuring out how to get into a career I want. Needed your courage to keep me going 👐🏃💪
I love this! She explains the little things we can do to achieve our goals. We can apply this to any field we're in. This has pushed me to go ahead and apply to grad school in Boston, Massachusetts. I'll have to leave Virginia but I feel like I'm ready to make this jump now 😊 thanks for this video Patricia!
You are one of my favourite UA-camrs because no matter what the content is I absolutely love your positivity and energy level just love your videos to bits. Keep growing, lots of love. ♥️
Pat could you do a video on what helped you stand out and get a place on the internship even though you say you didn't have all the qualifications at the time? I'd love to hear about it x
is the course that hard? because i wanted to do similar course in uni but fashion industry is so sompetitive so had to resort to business management course
Julina Shrestha I feel it's the university I go to , I got central saint martins if you've heard of it and it's really competitive and if you are a teachers favourite you will enjoy . I just really struggle because I'm not rich so I find it difficult keeping up with everyone else who can afford it . If you enjoy fashion deffo go for it but it's not what I expected but I think as I said it's because of my university .
I enjoy fashion but I dont think I'm gonna have a secure future in that career. Well I'm trying to do business management now and thinking of exploring fashion marketing, buyer or something creative in fashion industry basically, see how that works out for me Goodluck for you youtube journey!
Boss Lady Pat! You are such an inspiration...It is good to know that you have made it this far..thank you for your great advice....everything does take time...good to see that it is all paying off for you right now...keep going up..
The hair color and her skin complexion go together SO WELL 🔥😍🤘🏾
KurlyPhro I agree!
KurlyPhro rightttt!!! That's so her! I always thought black hair was the sexiest butttttt hummmm I'm kinda thinking I need some color now!
Dang! That Hair color is LIT!!!!
KurlyPhro Yasss! Makes her look younger and so "fresh"... if that makes sense😝
RIGHTTTTT! I SENT MY WEAVE SUPPLIER THIS VIDEO N WAS LIKE THIS IS WTF I NEED
Whoop whoop 🏆
"If you're gonna fail, fail fast". Gosh I'm glad you said that, sometimes I'm too afraid to fail I don't even try. Thank you 😍👏🏾
You know you're a Patricia fan when you can remember hearing the stories in an old video ❤️

What im doing in my life right now clicking so fast on your videos 😂
This video is the most inspiring video I've seen on youtube for a long time... I am so happy I found you Patricia because you are funny and intelligent! Best combination ever.

This was amazing, uplifting and encouraging advice for everyone. I personally would love to see more "career oriented videos". No matter where a person is in his/her career things like this serve a valuable purpose and as Patricia stated you are helping and that's so important.

The last question was from me. I'm so glad Patricia took the time to answer it. Thank you so much. Brilliant advice. You got me so motivated.

YAAS Patricia, sprinkle that wisdom! You are such an inspiration with your intelligence and incredible work ethic!
I needed this message, thank you Patricia and the person who asked about what to do about taking action in the face of fear.
I love Motivational Patricia.
she's like that bsf that doesn't let u give up and always has inspirational quotes on deck 😁
Been on my university course for 3 years now and I've never hated something so much in my life 😂 pushing to do UA-cam full time ❤lovely advice
Jadore Dinosaur fashion design womenswear
is the course that hard? because i wanted to do similar course in uni but fashion industry is so sompetitive so had to resort to business management course
Had the same experience, switched to fashion merchandising, love it.
I enjoy fashion but I dont think I'm gonna have a secure future in that career. Well I'm trying to do business management now and thinking of exploring fashion marketing, buyer or something creative in fashion industry basically, see how that works out for me
Goodluck for you youtube journey!
Patricia. You are so giving of yourself hence why you have grown. Keep being you.
