Todd I'm so so glad that you are saving History!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Mystery item # 1 was part of an old furniture caster. The wheel and axle were missing and part of the arms that hold the axle for the caster. Nice search Chris! I’m glad you were able to save those items.
Thanks for the info
I am drooling over those early finds pictures at the end. I can’t even imagine being able to dig so many CW relics. Amazing!!!! Thanks so much for the video.
Listening to that traffic noise and seeing all of the developments going in is a tough pill to swallow. Our country is busting at the seams. 😂
Glad you enjoyed it....thanks Doug.
Great detecting Todd!
Heartbreaking to see all the development going on with much of it lost to history.
Wow. Great decision to hit that wooded area. Great video, Todd! Thanks for sharing.
Pretty nice of the developers to allow folks in to look for relics..many don't allow it
Really hope you don’t stop doing these videos. They are extremely educational and informative to many of us who love our country’s history. Great sacrificial ministry. ❤❤❤
Thanks and I would love to say that I won't but sans COVID life has gotten much too busy for me to keep posting weekly so its bi-weekly and may end up just monthly.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Yes, I get that. …. even posting monthly is good. 👍🏻
Nice haul for a place that'd already been pounded so hard. As the ol' saying goes, "No such thing as all hunted out."
I found a lucky spot under those trees. I've hit it another 3 times so far and hope to go back until they tell me its too late...I've done well every time even after this one. Sad to see it all go under the blade.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Subdivisions are the nemesis of history.
Todd, nice you were able to hunt there. I would go back and stay in the wooded areas. We are fortunate in our community that almost all farm land was turned into scenic parks or left undeveloped for the wildlife. But, the high rises are going up all around major freeway areas which effects our wet lands. The owner was very informative, can you imagine finding a pile of civil war bullets. Wishing you a Happy Eater weekend to you and family. God Bless.👍👏
Thanks Twins....I trust your Easter was a relaxing day with your family. Our son surprised visited us from college so my wife was all abuzz.
Thank you for trying to save our history.
As an aside, I hope the ghosts keep tier new new neighbors entertained.
Amazing what you found there in the trees. So sad to see all of this be turned into housing but it’s happening all over Virginia. Thanks for saving what you can.
Glad you can save some of the history before it’s destroyed. But remember this. Just bc they developed it , doesn’t mean it’s gone forever. Might get lucky
They tear up the ground pretty good so only the fringes may hold remaining treasure. Sad to see it all go.
Todd Thanks for saving history. Sorry to see them tear that sacred ground up. Hopefully you get more chances to save more history there.
That's the plan! I've been back several times since, none but this last time did I film though. I keep finding as much stuff as I did at the beginning. I found a hotspot under the trees that was never detected.
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives from the video it looks like you found a sweet hot spot. Good luck finding all the goodies. I'm always happy to find lead, even camp fire lead is most likely from the war. Keep up the great recovery.
I would believe there's underground huts ornpits you could dig out at this site.
🕶👍 no credits?
Hey Bottles I decided to discontinue Patreon since I don’t post every week now and mulling posting any more at all. I felt it wasn’t fair. I discontinued it maybe 2 months ago I’m guessing.
Humbling video and sad to see what is happening all over northern Virginia but I see it driving into that area.
hey hey.. Nice fun man!
Hey, thanks!
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives No prolem!.. You are welcomee!!
Nice, productive hunt. Sad to see progress crush history.
Todd,
Too bad the land will be housing, but at least it's been well searched.
Your new detector is realy good.
Was that the collection of the land owner?
WoW,
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Yes. The owner estimates they found over 50,000 bullets alone. Also they had over 300 hundred plates, and thousands of buttons and other artifacts.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives WOW and it’s saved👍
Heartbreaking that anything left in the ground is going to be lost to history forever. I knew I should’ve walked into that hedgerow…
LOL Rob I have been in that hedge row for three days now and you would be shocked at what all I have pulled from there. Friday's video shows some more at that site.
I found half a millstone in my yard and was obsessed about finding the rest. So I found another piece in the roots of a tree and then another close by. I’m wondering if the tree broke it as it was growing? I think the stones been there over 100 yrs??
It's very likely
Awesome video. Thank you Todd. Playing catch-up on your videos .
No worries. Welcome back Harold.
Nice finds. Sadly the building everywhere is taking over here also. It's sad that so many historical places are being paved over and being lost to future generations.
Maybe a pin for a tractor hitch?
Hey Todd, how do you like the D2 versus the minelabs.
Thinking of trying one out for relic hunting? Thanks for great content and explanation of the sites.
Hey buddy pros and cons with them both. I still use both depending on the site. I would not say one is superior over the other but others might disagree. For the price, go with the MineLab. The Deus is an experts machine I feel.....and takes a while to learn.
The final chapter and tragedy, another casualty of that conflict, the loss of those sites will be gone forever,it would have been great for the government to have had that site properly searched by a team of volunteers and all finds put in a museum for future posterity.
Yep I agree. So many battles were fought in the Shenandoah Valley around major towns like Winchester, Manassas, Foggy Bottoms and the like that the entire region should be earmarked for preservation but development from everyone moving here for work just makes the land unaffordable even to non-profits, and the Government is broke....
That is such a shame, why doesn’t a historical organization step in? Thank you for saving the history.
Hello from Knoxville GO VOLS. I wish we didn’t have to get rid of our history. I enjoyed the video. How is your hand doing? I have surgery Monday. I get a new knee. Stay safe say hi to your family for me.
My hand is still bothersome. I'm having to scale back detecting until this heals. I think I need physical therapy for it now. I hate to step away from detecting but Steve I think I have to for a while.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives I had knee surgery today so I understand. Take care my friend
How are they able to turn a site that should be on the national historic register into condo's???
Sadly this is all too common in Northern Virginia where real estate development pressure exceeds the ability of private groups to purchase land that sits near cities.
Such a travesty to see these national historic places be developed. So many losing their lives there and now it’s housing.
Basically what's known as raping the land
Can only hope their want for wealth is overshadowed by their "history" ignorance. Kewl dig bro!!
Do we see witness trees ☺️👍
How was this allowed to happen if America's battlefields belong to the National Park Service??? And why did the farmers sell the land in the first place??? They are trying to do the same thing down near Manassas!!!!
Land in Northern VA is some of the most expensive real estate in the country, so many CW Battlefields are in danger of development. The National Battlefield Trust tries to save these places through museum fees and events, but they aren't able to save these sites from development sadly. The Developers do allow detectorists to come in and pull out what they can before its plowed. It is just tragic to see.
VERY COOL. NICE WORK. MAKE SURE YOU GET BACK IN THERE GET ALL YOU CAN .SAVE IT. SAVE IT SAVE IT. LOL. ITS SAD TO SEE IT DISAPPEAR.... GREAT JOB KEEP IT UP.
